2:33 The D-Series sizes are so light compared to those used to Tirintron weights due to smaller internal speakers and thinner feeling plastic. I transported a 32” D-Series by myself once thought I wouldn’t advise it, can’t do that with a Trinitron. I do have a 20” d-series thats adorbs also :D
@@BattletoadOVerload Some of it also has to do with the fact that the aperture grille has very thick metal around it to keep it in tension inside the tube.
You are funny, man! I'm gonna check out more of your vids, for sure. I just found a D-Series at a local Salvation Army for $6 yesterday, so I'm watching a ton of vids on it...I'm getting ready to do a full restore, so lot's of work to be done.
Nice score ❤. I also have a D series of my own with the remote, and the remote is RM-C1259G. So I would look for that one or a universal remote would work too if you wanted to go that route
Pretty sure the majority of trash haulers forbid taking TVs unless you pay additionally to have them remove it or you take it to your local recycling center. My local recycling center will not allow anyone to take anything, I’ve seen plenty of Trinitrons, AF series, iARTs, and D series go right to the crusher, it’s super sad.
Out of all the CRT’s I’ve collected and gotten rid of in the past decade or so, the 20” d-series is my biggest regret that I let go. What’s sucks is it’s rare as hell. Thankfully I have a 27”, but honestly 20” is the prime size for retro gaming in my opinion.
I agree with you on the 20in size. After moving a couple dozen 27in CRTs around in the past 3 years my back is thanking me for cutting back on them. Oh, the games look great on them too of course :)
Man how can you smash a vintage game pad on the concrete floor and just inches away your friend holy grail crt? I can’t believe you did that over a game. I did that when I was like 13.
These D series were great sets. Shadow mask is the way I prefer it, as that’s what’s used heavily in the arcade cabinets. As a former amusement tech, I saw a lot of cabinets and a lot of the tubes were Thomson, Panasonic, and RCA. All shadow mask, all tube producers for JVC.
XD. This is so great. You mirrored almost exactly how I felt in search of a 27" or smaller. Magically got lucky and found one for $25 on OfferUp. I went and picked it up in-between classes. There's a great feeling in hunting for CRTs to beat your favorite games on, isn't it?
I also love CRT TVs Sony jvc and trinitron I live in Jamaica so it costly to buy one from Ebay shipping cost and price would love to find somewhere to get them cheap though I am getting a jvc full featured one from mother in law
I have the Sony fv310 29 inch model(I dont know if it is just a latin american size version) ... I bought it for the equivalent to 30 bucks or so, but I traveled to a city 200 kilometers away to pick it up 😆
The Sony. BUT.. I've never seen a 27in D-series in action.. only this 20in. So one day I'll have to get a 27in one to compare it to the 27in fv310 to get the true opinion 👍
I think it’s a preference, the JVC uses shadow mask and the Sony has aperture grill. Personally I hate aperture, also curved tubes are better than flat tubes for convergence sake.
Finally, I've been looking forward to this.
kenny lauderdale my life is complete now that I know what the best CRT is, right K-Laud?
Huge fan of "In Search Of..." and I have to commend you are this fantastic homage!
Thank you! I love it too I grew up watching it, it was my honor to give it a good homage

I've heard that before I think, that they're way lighter then the Trinitrons. That's great news cause the Trinitrons break my back!

Gotta love that Christine reference
I love that movie
Great episode! The parody of "In Search Of..." was perfect!
Thank you brother! I may have to make another one in the future...!
Each episode keeps getting better than the last. Good job!
Thank you brother!

Awesome, thanks! And that's a truly great find, good luck with the restore. It'll be worth it
I’m trying to save as many CRT’s as I can. I have 7 now in preservation in a secret 🤫 underground lair.
Lol that's awesome. Thank you for saving them! Don't worry your secret is safe with me!
What remote should I get for a D-Series? I snagged a 27inch the other day.
Nice score ❤. I also have a D series of my own with the remote, and the remote is RM-C1259G. So I would look for that one or a universal remote would work too if you wanted to go that route
@@BattletoadOVerload Ah okay, I grabbed one of these off Ebay. JVC RM-C381. Hopefully it works.
The twenty inch j v c d series is very elusive
Are people just not throwing out CRTs anymore? You could go to a recycling place. That might net an interesting model.
Oh, they definitely are. Its just the storyline for this particular episode ;)

What's the difference between the JVC D800 (which I have/can find nothing about) compared to the D300s/200s here on youtube? Got the 32" myself
Cring factor was at an all time high but nice video man

Nice. I've seen a lot of other people online also saying that they prefer a shadow mask or any curved tube design in general

Yes it's a great nostalgic trip and great feeling of accomplishment. I love my hobby! Thanks for watching!
14:06 I thought you were going to have a secret CRT handshake
Haha. That's a pretty good idea
Out of all the CRTs, which did you like the best?
I found a 36-inch black D series, but they don't answer. I just don't get it. lol
I have 5 32" d 305's just hangin around
JVC GANG JVC GANG
Love the episodes totally and love CRT forever no entering email address to watch TV or all the problems of LCD led tvs
Thank you brother. Yes exactly! No nonsense like these new flat screens..!
I also love CRT TVs Sony jvc and trinitron I live in Jamaica so it costly to buy one from Ebay shipping cost and price would love to find somewhere to get them cheap though I am getting a jvc full featured one from mother in law
I hope you find a source in Jamaica one day, and can get all the jvc and Trinitrons you want for cheap :)

That's awesome! Definitely worth the drive for that beautiful baby. I live in the Northeast USA and they're super rare in this area

whats the difference between the D202 vs the D501 model?
I have no clue....!
@@BattletoadOVerload damn lol I could go pick up either one of them but not sure which one is better
How does it compare to the Jvc A series?
I think it's a little nicer looking than the A series. The A series however still looks petty great
Alright thanks man
Do you RGB mod them?
No I don't. Not yet. I havent gone inside a CRT yet BUT planning on changing that very soon...!
@@BattletoadOVerload awesome keep us posted.
First! Haha! :D
