I have a nasty cold right now, but I feel a little better now that I was able to enjoy some rare finds 🫡

It's strange, but I don't recall ever seeing Canadian thrift stores selling any used home-recorded VHS tapes from private collections. I've bought over 60 sealed blank VHS tapes (Kodak, Sony, Maxell, TDK, Memorex, RCA, etc.) and plenty of official studio-released movies on VHS, but never home recordings of shows, news, home movies, etc. Perhaps those kinds of tapes are just tossed in the garbage at Canadian thrift stores or are deemed unsellable.

I always liked those Kodak VHS tapes and found that they were of excellent quality. They were usually my top choice of VHS tapes for any cherished recordings. In fact, I have at least a dozen sealed Kodak VHS tapes and I may even have a dozen sealed Kodak Beta tapes (if memory serves). I also love Kodak's classic graphics and colour design of gold and black and red for the "Kodak" lettering. :)

0:28 Wow! I have that same model of Panasonic pop-up CRT TV and AM/FM tuner, but it wasn't cheap on eBay (probably $80 to $100 in total (bid plus shipping) when I bought it years ago) compared to you finding one at that flea market for a mere $10. Bravo! :)

4:52 I do keep an eye out for Blockbuster video rental cases, but the ones I see never have that Blockbuster insert as the cover even though they have the Blockbuster logo inside the case or a tiny Blockbuster sticker on the jacket outside. Most of the time when I buy them, they come with the cover inserts of the original movie which I probably prefer anyway. I also collect VHS from thrift stores mostly and have the odd VHS tapes here and there that were rentals from mom and pop independent stores with the original address information printed on the box and VHS tape. Like you, BattletoadOVerload, I buy them out of nostalgia (and to watch, of course) and out of wanting them as part of video rental history and pop culture history because I miss the social aspects of going to video rental stores back in the 80s and 90s. They were very special places for sure. :)

6:28 That's cool, BattletoadOVerload, that you worked at a Toys 'R Us years ago. I know they're all gone now in America, but we still have Toys 'R Us stores in Canada that are alive and kicking. :)

Dude that little crt is awesome. Those tapes as well. Ive actually never watched Akira ill have to check it out. Anime on a crt is the way to go. One day your gonna have to turn your collection into a museum.

I bought that Winners Guide to Nintendo from a scholastic book order through my school. It was like a magazine, showing off new games I never heard of. I must have been 4 or 5 at the time and would ask my mom to read it to me before bed. Seeing that front cover brought back a rush of memories!

My first crt tv as a kid was actually a small sanyo tv. Just a consumer set not a cool monitor like this. So, sanyo holds a place in my heart. The only thing sanyo brand i own now is a rare find of mine at a thrift store its a sanyo woodgrain mini fridge. Had no idea they existed. Was definitely used in an office during the 90s. Had an office logo on it.

Wow talk about a stubborn crt! But we got to see some freaking battletoads! Was looking forward to the next one! Now its time to kick back and enjoy some rare finds:) work had me behind and thats not like me for your channel.
