Thank you for this video Sasha. Could you maybe do a video about a writer's notebook? And how to motivate yourself to actually start writing/ how to overcome writers block. Writers block is killing me atm. I'm supposed to write an essay until tomorrow. I could easily write about the topic that was given to me but can't manage to motivate myself enough to sit down and start writing. Or I'm just sitting in front of a blank page.
I struggle with writer's block as well, it is definitely an issue for me, but you have to remember you are not alone in this, many writers struggle, too. I made a video about overcoming writer's block ^-^. I know how hard it can be for us writers to stay motivated! If you want to check it out it's here :) ruclips.net/video/6BUsIxEI1-g/видео.html I hope it helps!
Please make a book encyclopedia / writer must haves/ tips videos! If you could make a video about rekindling passion for writing (let's say a person was inspired to write a book when they were younger, but things got in the way like college or some issues or people that said it was a bad idea altogether) how does one keep on writing? What should a beginner author write about?
I really, really, really, really want that emotion thesaurus. Sometimes I struggle with conveying the the emotions of my characters. This is going on my Christmas wish list, if I can't get it for myself.
Also, have you thought about doing a video on how you named your characters? I am wanting to start writing my novel but am having trouble naming my characters. Especially fantasy names.
If it helps, I suggest giving characters a name similar to another that plays a role like the you want your character to. As for fantasy names, you could pick out attributes you want the character to have and look up those words in a different language and mix them together or rearrange them to make a name. That's what I do. Hope this helps.
I haven't been able to write in a long time. These might help a lot. Recently I've been writing stuff in a journal that happens day to day or whatever and it's kind of given me a want to write a book or try to again. I'm sure these will help a lot. Though I'm not a coffee drinker or tea drinker I'm sure warm apple cider will help me 😂 I have a lot of notebooks laying around and more so I'm slowly getting prepared. Thank you Sasha so much for these tips!! I would love to see more that would help and not make my cringey past writing come back 😝
i haven’t watched you in a few years, but i saw you in my subscription box and thought why not!! now you’ve inspired me to sit down and write again and even delve into the reading world as i haven’t for a few weeks (as you put it in your why longer series are better, im in book hangover mood after finishing the Crank series)
I cannot wait to see your video on how to make the encyclopedia! I actually have a folder in my Scrivener that is marked 2019 Writing scraps and Notes for ideas. I have them for past years too. I also have a digital bullet journal on my phone to keep notes and ideas on the go.
I would love to see more on how to outline a book bible. As a writer outlining with such detail has always been a struggle for me, so getting tips on how to properly do it would be so helpful!
1. Coffee 2.sweedish fish or 3 musketeers 3. An outline of my book (rough plot ideas ) 4. Family tree of characters (depends on if I’m planning to have a sequel or not). 5. I like to make a playlist for songs that fit the story I’m writing.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been writing for about 5 years but only started to write seriously about one year ago. But I sadly struggle a lot and this video helped me a lot. I would love and very appreciate if you make another video like this one. Lots of love and hope you're doing great
When ever I’m working on a series I have sort of like a book bible but I call it my info book and it just helps me keep continuity with in the series at that moment
thank you so much for this video!! It was so helpful!! I love all your videos but your writing videos are my absolute favorite, you are a huge inspiration to me!!!!
All the Thesaurus books are great. I love them in physical form for when I'm home and on my kindle for when I travel. And I agree with you on giving someone who writes a note book because writes will fill them will lots of ideas.
Omg, thank you so so much. Now I know what I want/need for Christmas! I love your channel and you overall. Hopefully one day you’ll be doing a review for my book. 💕
That emotion thesaurus sounds like everything I have ever needed. I love my Book bible. For this project I'm working out of a bullet journal (I have a thing for longhand), but I'm thinking about doing something similar, but rearrangeable for my next one. Maybe a traveler's notebook. I don't know.
These are awesome tips, I'd love to hear about your other tips! I'm the worst for staying organized so keeping a planner with daily word counts was something I never thought of before!
Yasss! Please do a video about the book encyclopaedia!!! I have an entire book planned out and ready to go but, because I’ve written all the notes on one document, it’s really hard to find the information I need when writing and is a tedious process which stops my creative flow 💜
That moment when you're thinking, "Sooo...what do you do if you don't drink coffee, tea, OR wine?" Lol. Btw, Sasha, I'd LOVE to see a book encyclopedia video!!
THANK YOUUUU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I’m (trying to be) a writer (essentially on Wattpad haha) and this is useful! Especially the Thesaurus (I use the website by the same name to find synonyms) and the Encyclopedia! I would really like it if you did a video about that, because I know I need to do one but I just don’t know where to start or how I should do it so yeah, it would be great if you did that 😅 Again, thank you! Can’t wait to read your works!
Great ink pens are one of my writer must-haves. From smooth writing to having vibrant ink and grip support, I'm always on the hunt for new writing ink pens. Also, the Google Drive and MS Office apps are another must-have. I can work on my current manuscripts even when I'm out and about.
I've never thought of making a book bible! I always try and write key information in a notebook I have with my core ideas and points in the story but it becomes so clustered and messy and there is certain characters I don't feel are important enough or developed enough to include... I just get stuck and flustered a lot! And FINALLY a solution!
A writer must know what characters want and feel cause that is the way you write. You set up a plot and characters interact depending on their emotion towards the scene or their lives. That is the way humans behave
Oh I lost one of my notebooks with over fifty pages of information for my book when I was 13, I was absolutely devastated! Still working on that same idea. Will definitely check out the emotional thesaurus.
That's a very helpful tip!!! I like to write fanfiction but the only problem is that I have to catch up with school and barely have spare time. Also, some of my stories are hiatus for a long time since high school. Since the holidays almost coming, I should get back and write more hopefully. I hope you upload more often to your future writers. :)
For me, the best tool as a writer is silence. A quiet space gives me a better way to write and focus. I do write in hectic environments but ir's not the same thing. :/
this was really helpful! i've always loved writing even though i don't usually do it but i really want to get more into it and i think using this essentials would help!
PLEASE I need a video on that book encyclopaedia/bible thing! It could be very helpful And I would also like to know how you organise your notebooks, so maybe you could also do a video for that? Great video, really helpful, thank you!
This was extremely helpful! I've had more and more story ideas as of late and I'm wanting to commit to writing them. The emotion encyclopedia looks perfect and the book "bible" makes complete sense. Could you please make a part two? Also, did you ever deal with the fear of imperfection when it comes to writing or creating anything in general? I'm slowly but surely putting aside my insecurities but I was wondering if you had any tips?
I think having a book that you like next to you could go both ways. It could also make you feel “my book will never be as good as this book” At least that’s how i would feel cause I’m not that confident when it comes to my writing😅
I used to have those glasses, and I sat on them and broke them! Can you please tell me where you got them from, I forgot all about them until seeing this. 300$ down the drain, I can check the eye doc where I got them, too
Yes please do a video on making a book bible, that would be extremely helpful! I love your writing videos.
Yes please!
The emotion thesaurus and the book bible thingy blew my mind

I can totally relate, i am currently ransacking the internet looking for unpronounceable fantasy appropriate names
If it helps, I suggest giving characters a name similar to another that plays a role like the you want your character to. As for fantasy names, you could pick out attributes you want the character to have and look up those words in a different language and mix them together or rearrange them to make a name. I’m super late but Hirohiko Araki’s Character Sheet is amazing
Buying that emotional thesaurus when I can! That will help me so much during NaNoWriMo!
I'd love to see another video like this, it's truly helpful!!
I haven't been able to write in a long time. These might help a lot.
