Lots of people wants Yusin with Deokman to end up together. The thing is, this drama more or less followed the history, and according to real history, Kim Yusin is Deokman trusted general, her right man during her reign, not her lover or something. So yeah, thats why.
I just realized something here. I have watched the whole drama many times over. The scene at 0:38 had a great impact on Deokman's decision on the future. Refusing Yusin's love although he's very sincere, and willing to marry Bidam, although he is untrustful to her. My conclusion is Deokman had never really forgiven Yusin for sneaking at her while she is taking a bath.
She didn't refuse Yusin's love, she made a choice to fight for her birth right and that meant Yusin and her became lord and subject, which meant they could never become anything. They had a chance in the future but then Yusin sacrificed himself to save his people so that put an end to any relationship they could have had. Bidam was beside her all those time and loved her whole heartily, she was all that mattered, he didn't care for riches, for power, and never treated her any differently, she was always Deokman to him and she loved him for it. The problem was on Bidam's side, he never felt adequate and suspected her love for him was insincere or not strong enough. I thought the transition of Deokman's love from Yusin to Bidam was done very well, each relationship reached it's peek then met a logical end. I feel sorry for Deokman, she lost so much to fight and keep the throne.
Oh I am glad that I wasn't the only one who have the same thought. The first time that I watched this series, I thought that the romance part between Bidam and Deokman seemed so forced but after re-watching this series, I also realized that the transition between Deokman's love for Yushin and Bidam actually make sense. I think it started after Yushin got married, she was crying and Bidam cheered her on. Then he left for a while and came back as a Hwarang, the look on her face was something so different, a Deokman with shining eyes obviously happy to see her friend - we didn't see her so happy for so long and that was the first time. But Bidam change and became so manly so she started to get awkward with him but he always came close to her so that's how it goes. The only problem is that, didn't give us much time to see it properly developed because they rushed the whole thing. Deokman suddenly change into cold Queen and Bidam into something else.
Bubble Berry I think Yushin's love for Deokman never changed, it just transformed from man-woman love to leader-follower type of love. I would have supported the Bidam x Deokman couple if Bidam hadn't changed and let himself manipulated by Misil's people, and if he had trusted Deokman's love more. I appreciate that Bidam was there with her when she felt lonely because of Yushin's marriage, and it's natural for her to start falling in love with Bidam, but over time after she had become Queen, to me their relationship started to go downhill, with her being too busy and Bidam changed into someone that wasn't him anymore. People change, but in this case, it was a bad change. In the end, she still wore the ring, but the person beside her was Yushin, not Bidam.
