hi! i had TGA surgery when i was 5 days old. i am 18 years old now and start college this coming fall. i’m here to tell you that if you are living with this or a parent that has a baby with this condition, everything will be ok by the grace of God! the doctors will take care for u :)
@@A52warrior TGA is a rare heart defect. It starts in the womb and it happens when the 2 main blood vessels that pump the blood around the body are switched (the aorta and pulmonary artery) they call this an arterial switch. the surgery can happen right after giving birth or a couple of days after (like me) doctors are really good at monitoring the babies. if this happened 18 years ago, who knows what technology they have to monitor your baby now! you also have to go for yearly checkups to a cardiologist. i hope this helped, good luck with your pregnancy and praying for a safe delivery and a healthy life for your baby! ❤️
I’m 38 yrs old and born with TGA had the mustard procedure and was the first baby in North America to have a injection to keep my air duct open to fly me to children’s hospital in Vancouver Canada …stent put in at 16 yrs old and had emergency brain surgery at 27 and best cancer 5 yrs ago the nurses at the hospital named me baby boy blue. As I was blue when I was born.
@@TabassuM143hi dear hope u will be fine.... Just read ur positive comment thanks to Almighty Allah.... I am a patient who underwent this surgery. I am current 25 years old, played basketball on the highschool team as a starter and continue to improve my heart health. I have bult a carreer as a software engineer. This surgery should not stop any parent from limiting their kids(speak ot docs first ofc). Thanks for explaining this as I never had a visual of what happened to me. Only what ive been told :)
I’m 51 born with TGA and had a mustard procedure when I was 14 months at the IWK Hospital in Halifax. I did have a post operative stroke that I believe resulted me having a learning disability. I’ve received my first a Pacemaker at 19. Thankfully, I haven’t had any other serious illnesses in my life. I live in Vancouver and see PATCH clinic and annually. Thank you for creating this. I’ll probably end up sharing it on my Instagram. ❤
Thank you! We have a 36 hour old newborn that has this condition. They are performing surgery tomorrow to correct the condition. It is dextro-TGA and your video leads one to think that the surgery is fairly straight forward, you switch the arteries back to where they should be. However, what is the risk for brain damage once the baby is born? thanks
@@TheWobblinghorse Hello Lee, thank you for your kind note. Yes, all went incredibly well! Our little one is doing very well. Came home five days after the surgery. I’m thankful for you that you are prepared. We only found out after our little one was born. My prayers are with you and your family for a successful surgery and recovery.
Hey! Read my comment above :) I am someone who has underwent this surgery in 1998. My parents were very worried, but I turned out great. I am currently 6 ft tall, can workout, play ball and am a software engineer. This surgery left scars on my body but did not stop me from doing all the things any normal kid can. :) I hope my story can help strengthen ur family and I wish your child all the best.
I had this surgery as a baby, and I have been able to live a healthy life. I attended Yale and was on the swim team. I hope your baby is doing well and please encourage them to follow their dreams
The blood comes from lungs as oxygenated to left section of heart. And the oxy blood goes to whole body and this blood comes right section as deoxygenated .
Osmosis I have to say is really championing retention of medical subjects. "Way to go!" would be me putting it very lightly. Thank you 🙏 And I noticed the (probably) red blood cell on the deoxygenated part of the d-TGA wasn't smiling at all 😂❤
My baby girl born with TGA condition but unfortunately she didn't make it, the operation is successful but when they going to put her in icu her heart bleed 😔

Does anyone think that hiking to high elevations would affect this? Anyone with this experience problems when hiking to high elevations?
I thought prostaglandin e closes ductus arteriosus?
Indomethacin which is a PG antagonist closes Ductus arteriosus
