    I decided a couple months ago to finally move up from the cheap, almost disposable, gas station types of knives and your content has been a fantastic resource! I don't know if it would be interesting enough for a video but I'd love to see a rundown of some good representative examples of various steels. I'm wanting to get hands on experience with the differences myself and think you could probably get me off to an educated start. Keep up the solid work!

      Search the playlist. So much sharpening of different steels, many videos on different steels. My advice is try Spyderco, they have every steel with great heat treats across the board. Try the lightweight series to save some cash.

      @@BrandonGavin_EDC Those videos are actually what got me interested in getting a variety of steels to mess around with. I'll check out Spiderco some more, their blade shapes generally aren't at the top of my list, but would certainly be worth it for good steel. Thanks for the tip!

I thought he was talking about a SACHET like a tea bag. This word is proabably more like "sach" "ie" So, in conclusion, we were both wrong I think lol

    Mine is in the mail. I'm putting a proper choil with a diamond chainsaw sharpening style bit in the Dremel. That ramping blade bevel on the primary grind was on the Civivi Pintail too. Gone on mine now, along with a new opening hole that starts at the hole where the thumbstuds used to be. I've gone choil happy. Spydie Carribean needed one desperately. Sharpening hit behind the edge every time.

    Thank you Sencut for not making this knife with those stupid deep sharpening choils. That feature just makes for less cutting edge. It also makes it irritatingly easy to catch and snag rope when I'm trying to cut it.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  8 месяцев назад

      There's specific knives for things like that, in that case you want a certain kind of plunge, otherwise the blade could recurve over time, or just looks like you don't know how to sharpen, it also chips stones and makes it difficult to hit the back of the bevel, if you are worried about catching ropes because you do a lot of cutting with them or have the chance for serious injuries or death then there's specific knives for that or atleast specific features

    A lot of serious and especially repetitive work with will result in accidentally unlocking the blade onto your fingers I believe. Liner locks failed in that and other ways. Im sure this would. Id rather have a knife which requires strength and dexterity to unlock, with a reasonably unbreakable lock. I like my Cold Steel AD10 lockbacks. I dont ever want to use a knife with a questionable lock back again. I put plenty of force upon any I own, and lockback knives must be high quality or they are immediately or eventually very dangerous.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад +2

      I think you should be using the appropriate lock for the work or job your doing. Most knives that have disengaged on my have been very cheap or low quality knives, or was because I was using the tool improperly, for hard long term work I would recommend harder use knives as well.

    • @danhaywood5696
      @danhaywood5696 2 года назад +2

      What I've learned is having an unsecure lockback is more dangerous than not having one. I've used folding knifes all my life, and Ive literally had hundreds of jobs and spent most my life as a sailor and working in trades. Done a lot of canoe expeditions solo too. I've also got stabbed by a cheap dagger that bent in my chest and became temporarily stuck. Knifes in real action, are subject to extreme forces. Even using the back of a clip or drop point lockback blade to pry open paint can lids can cause a lock back to fail, or be released by accident. Mostly cheap knifes yes, but Ive had a $180 Myerchin fail on me.
      Im amazed there are not more injuries from that. There are plenty of brands and locks I haven't experienced though. This is one of them, so I don't know what that button feels like, but I foresee it as an accidental release hazard. I got arthritis in my hands and wrists, but I have the ability operate strong lockbacks still. Not like its not gonna hurt anyway. Dont think I want it this easy, then I'll get weak, shrink from the pain which I now ignore. Maybe someday I'll check one of these out in a store, see what I think. I enjoy your vids though.
