Rhythmically it does feel a bit like Caroline No. The backing track here isn't as complex as those on PS. Maybe replicating The Wrecking Crew is harder than just replicating Brian and The Boys?
@barkboingfloom Turns out you were right on the money: according to the behind-the-scenes breakdown Dae Lims livestreamed earlier tonight, the de-synthed bass sound was taken directly from samples of Caroline No. Good call!
That's what I'm inferring from hearing these 1970s Brian Wilson songs with pre-trainwreck AI vocal models. Oh, _that_ 's what he would have done if his voice were in good shape and he had the fortitude to put as much effort into his 1970s productions as he did his 1960s productions.
This is so much better than the original. The original is painful to listen to. This is beautiful. I agree with @thebottomband, this is likely what Brian heard in his head.
@@stevehofer3482 Pretty much every Beach Boys song can be thought of as a mixture of brilliance, garishness, and grotesqueness. This AI-assisted remake dials down the grotesqueness and provides insight into what Brian Wilson probably had in mind.
@@jmdavison62 Garish, grotesque? Really? What's garish or grotesque about God Only Knows, Surf's up, Don't Talk and a myriad other BW songs? Brilliant, absolutely!
That was phenomenal. It's like hearing a new Beach Boys song for the first time. Please just do the rest of this album. I've always liked the melodies, but the production choices and Brian's voice made me write it off.
THIS IS SO GOOD. this being a solo brian performance at his peak vocally adds so much to this. the original is solid, but this is even better. well done.
Love You is generally criticized for (some of) the lyrics (and deservedly so) and the rough vocals. This shows what the heart of Love You is - a collection of great songs!
Another amazing AI cover/remix. Always knew this would sound fantastic with Brian's 60s voice. Hope to hear "The Night Was So Young" and "I'll Bet He's Nice" at some point as those are two "Pet Sounds" level songs that are underappreciated.
I'd like to hear Honkin Down The Way redone musically but with still with Al's original vocals as he sounded so great on it and with Brian's 60's falsetto. I'd like to hear Good Timin with Brian's 60's voice too
I'm pretty darn cynical about AI., as is Elliott in the top comment... but darn it does that sound pretty friggin tempting. (Especially hearing The Night Was So Young)
Great choice of song, I wasn’t expecting for Christmas to come early this year, but you’ve blessed us die-hard beach boys fans with another beautiful piece. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family Dae Lims 🎄 looking forward to what else you have in store for next year!
It's crazy how good Dae Lims is with AI creation, because it really shows what could have been. It makes me both very happy to hear this but also kinda sad. Just how a lot of Beach Boys songs make me feel.
Another great rendition, Dae Lims. You could do the whole "Love You" album this way. Another suggestion: since people argued in the sixties over who had the best falsetto, Frankie Valli or Brian, I think you should have Brian do some Frankie numbers ("Can't Take My Eyes off of You," "My Eyes Adored You," "December 1963," etc. I think BW would kill...
Have to admit, I got distracted with Brians later rough voice so I never noticed how how beautiful this song is with a younger Brian. AI changed my mind! Sounds beautiful! Brian had the most beautiful, Angelic falsetto back in the 1960s. AI is amazing technology, but it's a bit scary.
Wow! You've restored him to a time of his highest point vocally and mentally and potential. I wonder what Brian would think of this. I cannot stop listening to this one.
At least in terms of Brian's '70s output, I'd always gotten quite a Pet Sounds vibe from this track in particular. I imagine the anecdotes about him writing it in a range closer to his pre-15BO singing voice (hence the Marilyn duet) help to reinforce that notion, let alone the common remarks that his vocal almost seems to briefly slip into younger form on that closing "Together you and I". Point being, this was a pretty neat way to take that thought and run with it. Nice job… well, putting it together!
It would be incredible to be able to listen to these wonders of yours, somewhere with Hi-Fi quality, some blog where you upload them or something like that, as a musician and filmmaker, this is incredible for me, many thanks
Hey I just wanted to let you know that you single handley gotten me into The Beach Boys’s music. I thank you so much for that. I remember listening to Thank Him AI like it was yesterday, such a good ai remake.
@@CHAMPisHeRe3234 The album’s voice, theme and topic are about an older man’s hassles and experiences in life and in a relation. To re-translate that into PS innocence is a misunderstanding of AI possibilities. A disaster, a terrible whitewash. Shame on you. But do what you like. Die for it. I never judge.
Amazing... I have always thought what would be the Love You and post 1976 BB albums with Brian's classic 60's voice and bright falsetto - thanks to you, that's now possible, and even with the arrangements like it would be in the 60's. Thank you for that!
This is great. It really is. It showcases Brian's songwriting gifts in a way that the Loves You version doesn't manage as well. Having said that, I do love the fact that this version enhances the sense of Loves You as a sort of outsider art. Although that is perhaps the layer that veils the prettiness and craft in the song, it's an added dimension that great art sometimes acquires whether the artist intended or not. It's so cool we can perceive the song differently but equally like this. I've jokingly posted that I miss the synth. But, personally speaking, I imagine that had Brian recorded this on 66, he might have had something a bit more idiosyncratic in the percussion. More like Caroline No, You Still Believe In Me or ending of In The Back Of My Mind than You're So Good To Me (and almost all of Loves You for that n matter.)😊
Ha! This was my favorite song when I first heard Love You and I immediately wished I could hear the amazing songwriting of that album with Brian's old voice and arrangement sensibilities. As I grew to appreciate Love You for what it is, I no longer feel that a better version of it could exist. The synths and worn down voices are now part of its magic. But I still love listening to your What If interpretations. Makes me appreciate the original even more while giving me the chance to enjoy something similar to what my imagination conjured up. Also---the keyboard line from the original during the outro was a really nice touch to the whole thing. Thank you for your ingenuity!
Brilliant and it puts a great song in an interesting perspective, what might have been... when Brian was in a different voice and place in life, the 'when I grow up' Pet Sounds version as opposed to the seasoned married couple one we already know. I adore this, thank you!
Tremendous job on this song Dae Lims! I've always written off the material on Love You due to Brian's deteriorated vocals, but you've managed to capture the essence of a really good song. Great creativity with the harmony and backing arrangement. Can't wait for your next offering!
Wow. Just wow!!! For the first time I can look past those gruff mid 70's Brian vocals and see what a lovely siong this actually is. You've knocked me over Dae. Just subscribed as a consequence of hearing this and about to delve into your other works. Thankyou.
I'm generally wary of, and cynical towards AI creations but what Dae Lims has created here is genuinely very moving. Great work.
I agree @elliotrobertsvideos. When are you gonna do a review of every Beach Boys album?
I'm an AI enthusiast but I think certain work stands out above the rest and elevates a medium.
Out of curiosity, what did you think of Dae Lim’s Grow Old With Me?
@thomaspappalardo7589
It's alright. Seems a little dated now, this tech keeps developing so quickly.
Agreed, i don't get how he does it? It's hard to tell It's ai without being told beforehand.
The Night Was So Young with 1966 vocals would be neat.
One song that would be kind of doing would be Honkin Down The Highway but with Al's original vocals but 60's backing track.
Yes, this comment!! Definitely one of the most 60s throwbacks already on the album!
We need the whole back half of Love You
What about "Metl Away", "Rainbow Eyes" and "Run James Run"?
Or Love You era vocals on Pet Sounds songs?
This would've fit quite well on Pet Sounds. Pure magic!
Rhythmically it does feel a bit like Caroline No. The backing track here isn't as complex as those on PS. Maybe replicating The Wrecking Crew is harder than just replicating Brian and The Boys?

caroline no?? yes
Love You in Brian’s 60’s voice would be amazing.
One or two LoveYou songs in 66 voices is enough for me. To do the whole album would be banal, blasphemous. You can easily extrapolate yourself.
Yeeeeeeees
Man. Heartbreaking. What could've been. Poor Brian.
The 70's was a rough time for Brian being in bed, drug addict, divorce etc.
That cover... we getting a full LP Ai remaster??
This is what Brian was hearing in his head when he recorded the song for "Beach Boys Love You"

Angelic.
This is amazing, Brian never lost his ability to write a heart wrencher. This song paired with his 60s voice is such a treat. Nice work 👍👍
Suddenly I find these 70's Brian tunes were gold.
But can't imagine his 60's tunes being turned into 70's ones.
The refreshed vocal helped me to recognized how beautiful the song really is.

You’ve finally answered what fans were asking back in ‘77 - how it would’ve sounded with Brian in his prime. Well done, sir. I truly applaud your work
Fucking amazing, would love the whole Love You album done with this Pet Sounds sound!
Can't even begin to imagine how you do this. It's a magic trick.
You should do an AI version of "Good Time" with Brian's rough 1977 voice to match the rest of the Love You album.
This only makes me appreciate the genius songwriting even more. It really highlights the unusual chord changes and beautiful melodies
Torn with this one, it’s interesting to hear, but I love Love You unconditionally, it is perfect as it is!
