How to ride a Harley Davidson 48 Motorcycle - Shifting, Rev Matching, Clutch Control

- Опубликовано: 6 окт 2022
- An updated video on how to ride a motorcycle. I had an older video using my Honda Grom, but with this one, I'll show myself riding in the streets and narrating it as I go. I also show how to rev match (blipping the throttle), and using clutch control, which I feel is very important. Enjoy and ride safe!

New rider here. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the time and effort you put into this video. By far the most relatable vid Ive seen since getting a bike. Very clear, informative and concise! Thank you for paving the way when you didnt have too.
Woo 🙌 I have two videos on how to ride. The other one is with my old 883 bike. Same style. I plan on making another updated one. Glad it helped, ride safe 🤙
it is my first motor cycle and its harley 48 and this video has been very helpful matey.. Many thanks
i feel you brother, just bought mine and have been practicing, sadly i live on a steep hill so its hard to get going lol
9:08 you made that look flawless.... to a beginner its most adrenaline pumping WTF DO I DO RN moment.
You always want to pull in the clutch. It stops the bike from moving. Then I look around for a way out and not just at the car in front. It's really muscle memory at this point and my hands just automatically do it lol 🤙
Best explanation thus far, and I’ve watched literally 5 hours of different videos. Thank you so much.
🙌🙌
Bro the way you explain in this video , 👍🏻 so easy , glad I find this channel ! Keep it up , keep making content ! 🏍️
Awesome Bro! Keep up the good work man!! You explained it with simplicity! Thank you!
Very underrated video! Thank you for making this.
Very comprehensive video.
Thank you. 😀
just got my first bike and this helped a lot!
Awesome, Bro. ❤ You are the best.
Thank you for this video
Upgrading from my R3. Always wanted a cruiser, but wanted to get some experience with a smaller bike first. Now on the verge of picking up one of these. Thanks!
Woo 🙌
Awesome editorial step by step word for word, clear as a bell, with the microphone, this is a real RUclips video!!
Best aggressive rider ever! I have a iron 883 and a beginner. Your videos helped me to gain confidence out there.appreciate you putting up videos. Keep it up and ride safe! ✊🏽
🔥🙌
Thank you so much for this video. Helped out A lot! About to get my first bike and I think I'll be riding it home lol
🙌🙌
You helped me learn to ride in your Grom video. You took the time to do a lot of explaining. Thanks! Found you when you were doing Onyx content. Then you sold your Onyx around the same time I was selling mine. I liked your Grom content and your video as to your preference between the Grom and Onyx made me buy a Honda Monkey as my first bike. 1 year later I’m looking to get a Triumph Speed Twin as my next bike. Stay safe and thanks for your content.
That's what I'm talkin about! 🔥🙌
I ride an avenger cruise, it's the cheapest cruiser available here.
cool video man 🤙
Looks like your in rancho , great video
Your the best.
Getting my first Harley this week and it's a 48 to so thanks mate this has helped I haven't gone riding for a long time and this was a good little reminder I have a habit of putting it in neutral before coming to a stop at lights is this a bad habit or ok thanks for the video 👍
Putting in neutral is fine. Just be aware of your surrounding and go into gear if u need to get out in a jam 🤙
Can you do a videos on cornering.
Very good video. I’m curious about the blipping, did you mention why or what that is lol?
Engine braking. Helps slow the bike down more naturally while putting your bike in gear. I suggest everyone do it. There's many videos on it 🙌
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi been riding a while just wanted to know what is top "rpm" safe for engine go fast 1,2nd and so on on a 48
That damn VA phone hold music gave me ptsd again hahaha. Great video . I’m not sure how good I’ll be with rev matching. How far do you roll the gas to rev match?
Just give it a good twist and adjust as you do it. Doesn't have to be perfect 🤙
@@kevlarxkoffee true true. The first time I downshifted it it gave a kick. I think I over revéd it
Hello. May i know info. Measure your handlebar. Nice man
Are they all forward?. Or 1 forward 4 backward?
its like a bad ass bike with a bad ass motor lol
Hey brother man that is a beautiful 48 wow I love those handlebars that looks badass and the exhaust is nice and throaty you did a good job on that!
I used to have a '97 custom 1200 XL beautiful all chromed out. My first Harley. 55 now an old man have 05 Fatboy 16-in apes stripped lowered
What are your thoughts on getting a 48 as a bike? Would you recommend a 48 over an 883 for someone to start out with? I've been riding around on a Grom for a few months but looking to get on a bigger bike now.
I think beginners get intimidated by the engine size number. 1200cc vs 883cc. It's not that far off. And Harleys are not like sport bike engines. I think anyone can handle a 1200 engine. The engine size is so close that it really comes down to the style you want. Overall, I like the 48 look more. The peanut tank looks really nice. I would have kept it if I only did local rides. So yes, 48 for beginners. Even a Street Bob is fine 🤙
@@kevlarxkoffee Thanks for the reply! A few days after posting the comment, I picked up an 883! and after spending some time with it and getting more comfortable, I can see a 1200 very is likely in the near future! =)
Nice job dude
Just curious how come you didn’t put it on neutral,iv always been told to put it on neutral when you stop
Some say if u have it in neutral and get hit from behind, you'll fly into the middle of traffic. If it's in gear, the bike will stall out. Others say to have it in gear so you're ready to move out of the way or take off if a crazy driver comes up. Do what u feel is more safe for you.
So I’m confused. What is the pedal for? Do you switch gears with the handle or the pedal?
left pedal to shift. first gear press down, and then 2,3,4,5 are upwards. Neutrral is a small click between 1&2.
So when you are rev matching, you blip it and at the same exact time while you blip it , you are shifting down ?
Yeah everything happens really fast. Hold on the clutch, rev the throttle first then immediately shift down and let out the clutch. I want to say shifting down and letting out the clutch near the same time is the key. Just do it slow first and then faster over time. I plan on making an updated video about it 🤙
@@kevlarxkoffee ok great thank you
On part 20:06 u just blipped it and didn’t let off the throttle ??
Any issues with your gear popping out of gear on a turn.
No issues. Never heard of that lol. Must need some clutch adjustment if that's happening.
selling my streetglide perhaps getting a 48 down the road
Oh wow 🙌
How I’ve watched it multiple time but no luck u u always have to roll of the throttle because I’m some parts it looks like u don’t let off and hold the throttle and blip without letting off
What kind of bars are those
Windows bars. Link in the description 🤙
It’s weird. My brain is having hard time processing using your feet to shift through the gears rather than your hands like on a car. And don’t get me started on the clutch looking like a brake on a regular bike and having come off the throttle while holding down the clutch then shifting with your foot. I can see myself messing that up man. It’s a lot to remember. Also on a car you can double shift the gears, 2 to 4 etc. can you do that on a bike? What about stopping in the gear you are in. You can do that on a car. Is it the same for a bike? All this is legit scaring me from passing my bike test.
I was the same way when I first started years ago. You'll form muscle memory and it becomes easy. Just ride around the neighborhood to practice first 🙌
And yes it's similar to a car, you can hold in the clutch and shift as many times as you want. Just be careful and I suggest going one at a time as you're beginning. Watch all of my tutorial videos, I show that you can shift down multiple gears with the clutch in. Be careful and be safe 🙌
Tank specs please?
3.3 gal tank. Got it from a used 2009 Harley Nightster 🙌
3.3 gal tank. Got it from a used 2009 Harley Nightster 🙌
Why blip the gas when shifting down
So you don't get the heavy engine breaking when you release the clutch..
