    We are a Small Farm located in Central/Northern Michigan. We farm every inch of our 6 acres. We breed Registered Dairy Goats, Dexter Cattle, and Heritage Hogs.
    Clean healthy food is important to us and we like to produce the majority of our food on the farm and we grow and raise enough to sell to local customers.
    In 2019 we added honeybees to the farm and have had as many as 30 active hives producing honey for us.
    Our goats include Nubian goats, Mini Nubian, and Nigerian Dwarf goats.
    Our Heritage Hogs include: Hereford

    Just discovered your page and LOVE IT! Your honesty is refreshing. I’m an 80 year old who spent more than 60 years farming on a part time basis. Loved every minute of it, even though it was physically hard work that had its share of emotional lows. Keep up the great job.

    When you make your new sign, just put the hours of operation that people can come since I think you both work outside jobs. Or they could call and you could set up an appointment time. I can’t remember how I stumbled onto your channel but I’m sure glad I did❤ let’s get busy on that sign❤

    Try online selling, with special orders in advance. Cater to your local area. We have people that do this in my area. K and P farms in Ellijay Georgia. They offer different packages to their customers. Nice for the customers and the sellers. It makes it easy and everything is done in advance. Meat is sold before it even goes to market. We have several people in town that do this. One was a Dairy farm that converted to selling grass fed beef. They have more business than they can handle. People drive over an hour from Atlanta for their beef. Love you guys. Love watching the videos. They help others more than you think. I am trying to raise mini jerseys. Thinking about Dexters for beef in the future.

      It must be on online company that is used? Do you know the name of it? Most of our beef customers are from well over an hour away. Some have cottages or cabins near us and stop by. Dexter beef is the best! Good luck with the mini jerseys we love our Millie even though she isn’t a mini. Happy new year!

    The bell peppers are amazing. We are Northern Indiana and have trouble growing them.

      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  7 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t have luck growing them until I started using the black weed barrier to help retain moisture and the manure compost.

    Totally agree about the wild runaway Kunekune babies lol. Those babies not only get out but we found a couple, like 5 acres away. They just 'felt like running'...(like Forest Gump)
    If you can, try moving your buck goat pens. We had a bad case of worms that were resistant to everything we used prior, when we moved to this property. One thing we did besides switch up our wormers was to , right after worming with the new meds, we moved our buck pen to a new location. It really did help and I've barely had to worm them this year even with our wet fall. We were blessed with a dry dry summer but fall was crazy wet.

    • @SweetBriarFarmMichigan
      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  7 месяцев назад +1

      We moved the buck pen and are dry lotting them. We still have some modifications to do but it solved the problem. We never had an issue with the does since they were dry lotted.
      5 acres away! That’s crazy!
      Have a happy new year!

    Sounds like with getting rid of the Kunekune's and Nigerians, there will be more room for cows ;) Also with downsizing your pigs, will you have spring feeders for sale?

    • @SweetBriarFarmMichigan
      @SweetBriarFarmMichigan  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I have you at the top of the list. We moved the boar in with the sows first week of December. I am 90 percent confident they bred back right away. There are urine pregnancy tests for swine… might make a good video😂 So we should farrow end of March.

    You might be able to sell the does bred but especially in milk. Fall is a hard sell. I dont think we could have managed to sell the does we did if not in milk. Good call on breeding them to increase value.
    Also I thought this was child #2 for you, not #5! Amazing. You guys had a good year with some hard losses. 2024 will be better!
