that beach fishing is what I do every day the weather lets me in NZ except I use an old Phantom drone to take the baits out. Takes it to the next level. I prefer rockfishing by miles but I'm 64 with health issues and rockfishing is becoming too much for me... done it all my life. Pretty soon the only fishing I'll be doing is watching your videos. You've been my inspiration and motivation since your first youtube video. Thanks mate!
Your b-roll footage and camera framing are at another level, my man. Your videos are beautiful! You are living the life, indeed. Some wicked catches on this trip. Cheers, Gido!
Love your work Gido. After travelling Aus for 6 months last year I’m stuck back in Melbourne now. Your videos take me back to that beautiful happy place fishing by myself in the middle of all those nowheres. Thank you.
Love it as alays Gido, the great Southern and South west are my go to place to relax and explore. Hopefully you read this I'd be so stoked if you did a KG whiting session off the bricks and show us how it's done. They also make damn fine wraps ha.
Awesome adventure! So many different locations and scenes, underwater, night sky, beach, on the water. You've covered it all. The shark fight and release was an extra bonus. Thank you for sharing all of the excitement.
Sounds stupid but I really wish one day to come to Australia and casually meet you and the other great anglers like Dixon, Briggsy and co. You are such an inspiration and also awesome to watch every single time! Greetings from Italy ❤️🤙
Those black rays are a total menace. It's pure luck you got it into the surf. We used to have small ones up to 1m across come in where we swam at Cockburn - some times the water was only 40cm deep.
Believe it or not but I actually have friends from Asia and the Middle East who willingly pay good money to play with big rays! Especially the Eagle Ray coz they are prone to jumping, can't think of anything worse than busting my back on damn stingrays. Great vid mate, got me pumped for a sesh!
You need a baloon or float at the top of the steel trace and then a sinker with about 3 meters of 20pound mono tied to the clasp of the hook to keep the bait and hook off theground and under the surface to keep it away from the rays and crabs
Thing is with rays in shallow water, they don’t have to put much effort into fighting ! offshore when you get them unstuck from the bottom it’s easier to move them .
@@gidosfishingadventures i had my 8-15kg rod bending like that on a big ray, waiting for it to snap at any moment, surprising the abuse they can take sometimes
It seems to me that you should always try to get All of your tackle back. You went fishing, not the fish. Do the work. They don't need to pull that through life. I'm a big fan, but I do hate that specific kind of pollution.
Yeah sometimes it's unavoidable but at least bring a pair of pliers or better yet don't use barbed hooks if you're not keeping fish or fishing in an area with a lot of for non- edible species. I'm sure a lot of people will scoff at this but back in the day people used to kill everything they caught, especially rays, sharks and other "trash" fish. The only trash in the ocean is from humans.
Just got an opportunity to explain to the missus the difference between ethical catch and release and not so ethical, at least imo anyway. Meaning RUclips content creators who only catch and release without any intent to keep fish and still use undersize tackle and barbed or even worse barbed trebel hooks because they're so desperate to upload videos of landing fish. I only watch three or four guys these days because I can't take the hypocrisy of some others who act like they're doing the fish a favor by releasing the fish after torturing it for a video. That's not my understanding of conservation but as long as it's legal I can only refuse to watch their content and make little comments like this. Fishing for the thrill of pulling a fish out of its environment for a photo op is not conservation.
Torture is torture whether it is barbed or not. If you catch a fish and it isnt too small to eat you NEED TO EAT IT. Fish are way smarter than people give them credit for...until you take care of fish day in and day out you cant understand. I fish. I only fish for food though. You wouldnt tranq a deer just to say you got one but ethically let it go....

I hear you buddy, age is a cruel master...
Same here, when I hit 70 I had to quit salmon fishing.
Nice 👍 unfortunately Hawaii has banned drones taking bait out or scouting for fish 😅
May you gain a good health and wellness @bushmanphotos 😊
You guys look like the best of mates.
Money can't buy it

haha yeh the big black ones are not fun the the eagle rays are ok. they dart around and jump a bit
Plenty of people here in the UK like to catch rays, big Thornback rays and Skate

Twinnies goes alright the left hand reef break on the point there is my favourite wave between espy and hope
Yeh it looked good
@@gidosfishingadventures have you done much beach fishing in hope
Great vids Gido. Is it possible to use polaroid lenses/covers on GoPros so we can see under the water like you can ? Thanks
Another great vid bro, you should start tagging?! Would be epic to recapture something special 🤙🏻
🙏🙏🙏🙏
🤘😎🤘
Nando's features in your video. It all began not too far from here in Johannesburg.
Love a good old gido fishing adventure. Amazing looking spot mate. What beach is this one? 🤟🤟🤟
Looks like you need to cook sausages all the time haha, nice video once again 👍
Hahah hook ups a constantly
Have you tried ceviche with shark? That's the best type of ceviche I've had.
Was wondering what a sausage fish was and then I saw those very sausage shaped fishes 🤣
First time i've seen you use tongs
nice fishing my man..what rods and reels are you useing
Hey you were using a grapnel sinker when fishing for the shark. Better than the pyramid sinkers?
Great video thanks
They hold much better when it’s rough
What did you use for that night lapse? Amazing footage
fujifilm xt4 and 16-80 f4 lens(wider would be better)
Where is that fishing place? ❤
The rod you used with the blue color is it the oceans legacy specialist 10'2 pe4-6??😊
Its the discontinued version. The newer model in grey/black
Thanks for reply🙏☺️, tight lines👍🙌
Is rice cream, rice pudding?
Yep, without the golden crust you might get from the oven
Should of turned the tax man into bear batter fish and chips
Hi Gido. I'd love to talk to you about merch partnership. Where can I send more information?
Send me a message via instagram or Facebook. Links are in video description
what kg was your mates rod?
pe4-6 i think. with 50lb line on the reel but pushing it too its limit
@@gidosfishingadventures i had my 8-15kg rod bending like that on a big ray, waiting for it to snap at any moment, surprising the abuse they can take sometimes
So I take it you like your steaks DONE!? 😂
They were actually medium. Which is how I like them. Reasonably thick steaks which I much prefer
Respect, how tol are you?
A little over 6ft
Screw the “presentation”… just eat!

We did try to land it but the line broke in the surf right on the shore line, I don’t like leaving hooks in fish either
