    Orlando de Lasso was born in Mons, today Belgium, in 1532. He was with Palestrina one of the most important composers of Renaissance, being considered the greatest representative of the polyphonic style (where two or more voices develop while preserving the melodic and rhythmic character). He was a staunch Catholic, even during the Reform period. He composed sacred and liturgical music for the Roman Ritual, where he produced a large number of Magnificat and Spiritual Madrigals. He died in June 1594, on the day that William V dismissed him for financial reasons. This Lacrima di San Pietro was dedicated to Pope Clement V.
    The melody, although still limited by the somewhat rigid rules, imposed not only by the development that took place until this last phase of the Renaissance, but also by the restrictions imposed by the Catholic Church itself (although it already includes female voices) has moments of great spiritual strength and is melodically admirable. The choral group is amazing and the direction excellent.

    I came to know of Orlande from Collins encyclopedia. Am mesmerized by the flow of the melody and the harmonization.

      ¡No puedo esquivar!
      [traducido con Google para responderte]
      "Siehe, oh Mensch, was ich für dich leide."
      Guarda uomo, quanto patisco per te,
      chiamo te, io che muoio per te,
      guarda le pene che m'infliggono;
      guarda i chiodi con cui mi traffiggono;
      non c'è dolore come quello di cui soffro,
      e se così grave pare il dolore esterno,
      quello interiore è ben più grave,
      poiché ti sento tanto ingrato.

      I would put a couple of others up there with it, limiting myself to purely unaccompanied vocal pieces:
      Versa est in luctum cithara mea (Alonso Lobo) - Victoria and Vivanco wrote great settings of this text, but this is the best of all;
      Hear my prayer, O Lord (Henry Purcell)
