A bunch of factors in this. Pandemic delaying everything, months long writers strike in 2023, marvel reworking stuff in the background so they delayed everything from 2024 till 2025, reshoots and bad test screenings on this film also delaying it. And most of all, post endgame there hasn't been focus. In those 5-6 years between the 1st and 3rd Cap films, marvel was focused on Cap, Iron Man, Thor, and the Avengers in general. Since 2021 they've just thrown shit all over the place with no focus on specific main characters of the overall franchise and no intention to do an Avengers film, so Sam Wilson got screwed over when he deserved way better. FATWS also should've been a film in 2021 to lessen the gap since the last time we saw Sam on the big screen

I’m sorry but even in the MCU it makes zero sense for Sam to take the shield. He doesn’t have super powers. He never went through the super soldier program like Steve and Bucky. He doesn’t have the strength, speed, stamina or any other physical attributes to remotely be Captain America.
Brave New World could’ve been so much worse. “New World Order” title, Sam in a white hood (his old design), “Serpent Society,” Sabra in her comic incarnation, etc.

personally i don't think i would've known this movie existed if it was released a couple of years ago. i took a break from mcu after the endgame (as i believe most people did), but now after few years have passed the interest is getting back, I've heard that new trailers dropped, watched them and they got me really excited, can't wait to see captain america 4 and thunderbolts
I'm one of those people that think Bucky should have gotten the shield. Falcon already had his identity pretty firmly established and like you said, Bucky was still soul searching and not knowing what to do next. I think it could've been framed nicely that Cap trusts Bucky and believes he could be the next symbol despite his past. I like your videos a lot, i dont really care for superhero movies anymore but i like the more slightly optimistic viewpoint you bring when talking about how poorly they've been handling it. People thought Bucky should have it because Sam is written terribly. Hollywood pushes diversity so hard, and yet can't right good diverse characters to save their own life. If I was conspiratorial, I'd say it was intentional and they wanted to make diversity look bad, and that they were in fact secretly racist
I've also thought about this conspiracy too bro they want this guy to fail to make him look bad on purpose as joke when no character building was done nothing I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. It never made sense to give Sam the shield and legacy of Captain America when there was no build story arch to the only one I can think who had arch to build to it was Bucky it always felt that is what was being built towards or at least just give bucky the shield to keep. They never fleshed out Sam's character from loosing his partner him joining the force exploring dealing with grief his character has has always been sidelined fair enough there are a lot of characters already so his character has not been explored the most it has been winter soldier, giving him the shield and mantle of Captain America was a bad move it just shows lack in creativity in trying to make him cool as the falcon. Flesh out his character first in the new phases build his character ,make him important in the stories then at the end of secret wars you can make it a moment just like cap picking Thor's hammer Sam injects the super soldier serum not doing any harm showing him he is worthy to pick up the shield to save his friends. Then you can have bucky say I knew it.
@boldmusa4480 Personally, I think Bucky should have had the shield first, like in the comics, but gives it to Sam at the end of TFaTWS, because it turns out Bucky's role was to find a worthy successor. Would have been a completely different show of course, but that's not a bad thing
Also should have also gotten the shield because what is his character arc without it? Him becoming the new Captain America would have been the best way to start his redemption arc.
I'm hoping it's good but I'm still iffy on Sam as Captain America. Feels like an odd choice since Bucky is right there and still going out into the line of duty, and I really hate how his main thing for picking up the shield is him not needing the serum to do it. Yes Steve wasn't fit for it but he couldn't be Captain America without that serum. Not only does it make for cool fight and action scenes, but you can't put a normal guy with a frisbee up against a Hulk in his first movie, especially since that Hulk easily throws away that frisbee. Vibranium suit or not, he can't go up against a Hulk and win without the serum without it feeling like plot convivence. Speaking Bucky, I know he's doing Thunderbolts around the same time but why did a TV show spend a lot of it's time building up the relationship between Sam and Bucky just to have him not in the movie?

Sam Wilson had done cameos in other movies, like Ant Man, pre endgame. He should have appeared in Black Panther 2, it would have been a logical time for him to get his new suit. Now that he already has the new suit, the audience won't know why he has all his new powers. The TV shows are a distraction, they cheapen the brand, and the movies have been starting new franchises, which maybe they shouldn't have been doing. I'm not sure what the point of the Eternals was, those actors were too big names to put in lots of movies, I'm not sure where that movie could have gone, even if it was a success.

It is refreshing when either of them give a positive review rather than just bashing on everything and calling it woke but videos where they actually praise a show or film are rare.

Dude Thunderbolts is gonna be so good. Very encouraged that Marvel has enough faith in it to bury Cap 4 under it, releasing just a month later so that people quickly forget how bad that movie is. Also props to Marvel for experimenting a bit with the Cap 4 trailers, the editing on them has been top notch that those trailers alone have been more creative than most of the stuff they've pumped out over the past few years.
I always disliked the idea the of Sam Wilson becoming token Captain America. He was fine enough as an original black superhero, and now he’s the race swap version of an established superhero. It’s lazy and insulting. Plus the run never worked whenever they tried it.
Honestly, as a non American, this movie could have never worked at any time for me anyway. Steve Rogers Captain America kinda worked for me bc the costume and shield came from an other time and the absurdity kinda spoke to that. Now it’s really hard to root for someone who just wears their Flagg as a costume. I totally get that it’s much more than just that but as said I am not American and kinda just cringe. It stings bc the 2.Cap movie is my favorite mcu movie and the falcon was my favorite part in that.

I mean it doesn't even really make sense for Sam to get the shield. He's already the falcon, Bucky was an assassin and him becoming cap would have been his redemption arc. Skipping over Bucky's character arc is dumb, he might as well have died in endgame, they made him so lame.
For me, the real breakout character in this film is Sumiko, who quickly evolves from her Karen-esque introduction into a caring-- if brusque-- friend and neighbor. Her sacrificing of her prized stash of rice to feed Akiko... followed by Noriko's deep bow of respect... is one of the movie's most moving moments. God, I'm glad they're reacting to this movie. It's a masterpiece. I'd never seen a Godzilla movie before, and this one has set an impossible standards for any others I might watch. I had the luck to catch this movie when it was in theaters and man it was something. This movie deserved more awards, I knew it would be good but it blew my expectations right out of the water. This is the only Godzilla movie where I cared about the humans and wanted to see Godzilla get taken down. The destruction, desperation, acting, story was just absolutely phenomenal all the way through. I get chills every time seeing Godzillas atomic beam in ginza and the third act had me at the edge of my seat. I like your videos a lot, i dont really care for superhero movies anymore but i like the more slightly optimistic viewpoint you bring when talking about how poorly they've been handling it. Much more enjoyable than just someone who clearly doesnt have any passion for it just talking about it because they built their brand talking about superhero movies when they were better.

People thought Bucky should have it because Sam is written terribly. Hollywood pushes diversity so hard, and yet can't right good diverse characters to save their own life.
If I was conspiratorial, I'd say it was intentional and they wanted to make diversity look bad, and that they were in fact secretly racist
I've also thought about this conspiracy too bro they want this guy to fail to make him look bad on purpose as joke when no character building was done nothing I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. It never made sense to give Sam the shield and legacy of Captain America when there was no build story arch to the only one I can think who had arch to build to it was Bucky it always felt that is what was being built towards or at least just give bucky the shield to keep.
They never fleshed out Sam's character from loosing his partner him joining the force exploring dealing with grief his character has has always been sidelined fair enough there are a lot of characters already so his character has not been explored the most it has been winter soldier, giving him the shield and mantle of Captain America was a bad move it just shows lack in creativity in trying to make him cool as the falcon.
Flesh out his character first in the new phases build his character ,make him important in the stories then at the end of secret wars you can make it a moment just like cap picking Thor's hammer Sam injects the super soldier serum not doing any harm showing him he is worthy to pick up the shield to save his friends. Then you can have bucky say I knew it.
@boldmusa4480 Personally, I think Bucky should have had the shield first, like in the comics, but gives it to Sam at the end of TFaTWS, because it turns out Bucky's role was to find a worthy successor. Would have been a completely different show of course, but that's not a bad thing
Also should have also gotten the shield because what is his character arc without it? Him becoming the new Captain America would have been the best way to start his redemption arc.

I'm hoping it's good but I'm still iffy on Sam as Captain America. Feels like an odd choice since Bucky is right there and still going out into the line of duty, and I really hate how his main thing for picking up the shield is him not needing the serum to do it. Yes Steve wasn't fit for it but he couldn't be Captain America without that serum. Not only does it make for cool fight and action scenes, but you can't put a normal guy with a frisbee up against a Hulk in his first movie, especially since that Hulk easily throws away that frisbee. Vibranium suit or not, he can't go up against a Hulk and win without the serum without it feeling like plot convivence.
Speaking Bucky, I know he's doing Thunderbolts around the same time but why did a TV show spend a lot of it's time building up the relationship between Sam and Bucky just to have him not in the movie?

Sam Wilson had done cameos in other movies, like Ant Man, pre endgame. He should have appeared in Black Panther 2, it would have been a logical time for him to get his new suit. Now that he already has the new suit, the audience won't know why he has all his new powers. The TV shows are a distraction, they cheapen the brand, and the movies have been starting new franchises, which maybe they shouldn't have been doing. I'm not sure what the point of the Eternals was, those actors were too big names to put in lots of movies, I'm not sure where that movie could have gone, even if it was a success.

They took too long, and the reshoots delaying the CA 4 are hurting the movie. If they cut down on Disney Plus shows which are a waste of time and focused on making movies which actually bring in money then it could have been a success.
Marvel took some really bad choices it’s been 6 years since Endgame and just now we’re getting the follow up on the Captain America story. (The Disney+ show doesn’t count cause not many people watched it)

I get the impression he's not really a fan of any of the Disney+ shows. Plus I think he's going for that fed up outraged critical drinker nerdrotic vibe. It is refreshing when either of them give a positive review rather than just bashing on everything and calling it woke but videos where they actually praise a show or film are rare.

Dude Thunderbolts is gonna be so good. Very encouraged that Marvel has enough faith in it to bury Cap 4 under it, releasing just a month later so that people quickly forget how bad that movie is.
Also props to Marvel for experimenting a bit with the Cap 4 trailers, the editing on them has been top notch that those trailers alone have been more creative than most of the stuff they've pumped out over the past few years.

I always disliked the idea the of Sam Wilson becoming token Captain America. He was fine enough as an original black superhero, and now he’s the race swap version of an established superhero. It’s lazy and insulting. Plus the run never worked whenever they tried it.

Honestly, as a non American, this movie could have never worked at any time for me anyway. Steve Rogers Captain America kinda worked for me bc the costume and shield came from an other time and the absurdity kinda spoke to that. Now it’s really hard to root for someone who just wears their Flagg as a costume. I totally get that it’s much more than just that but as said I am not American and kinda just cringe. It stings bc the 2.Cap movie is my favorite mcu movie and the falcon was my favorite part in that.

I mean it doesn't even really make sense for Sam to get the shield. He's already the falcon, Bucky was an assassin and him becoming cap would have been his redemption arc. Skipping over Bucky's character arc is dumb, he might as well have died in endgame, they made him so lame.
For me, the real breakout character in this film is Sumiko, who quickly evolves from her Karen-esque introduction into a caring-- if brusque-- friend and neighbor. Her sacrificing of her prized stash of rice to feed Akiko... followed by Noriko's deep bow of respect... is one of the movie's most moving moments. God, I'm glad they're reacting to this movie. It's a masterpiece. I'd never seen a Godzilla movie before, and this one has set an impossible standards for any others I might watch. I had the luck to catch this movie when it was in theaters and man it was something. This movie deserved more awards, I knew it would be good but it blew my expectations right out of the water. This is the only Godzilla movie where I cared about the humans and wanted to see Godzilla get taken down. The destruction, desperation, acting, story was just absolutely phenomenal all the way through. I get chills every time seeing Godzillas atomic beam in ginza and the third act had me at the edge of my seat. A definite 10/10 movie for sure 1:04:36 that last roar in the IMAX theater scared the SHIT out of me-wasn’t expecting it!!! I've watched all the Godzilla films multiple times since I was a kid. Japan's Godzilla series came to an end with Godzilla Final Wars, but I think it was created with new talent as Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Minus One. The title "Minus" in Godzilla Minus One means that Japan, which had lost everything after the war, is threatened to become even more negative, but the film was released one year earlier than its original 70th anniversary in consideration of Godzilla and Kong being released in 2024. It is said that it also has meaning. Director Yamazaki has officially mentioned that the birthmark on Noriko's neck is Godzilla cells, and it seems that the director is also interested in making a sequel.
