Undoubtedly, she’s still got it, just great. Thanks for uploading. A shame the band isn’t performing in Chicago-yet. Thankfully, here in Chicago we’ve got a fantastic tribute band: The Great Pretenders featuring Suzanne Cross on vocals. They are also fantastic! (and I am not affiliated with them, just a very lucky fan.)
If Chrissie was a dude, she'd be hailed as one of the greatest singer-songwriters of her generation. Instead she's opening to half-empty stadiums for a clownish, has-been rock act. Still better than all the rest, and 71 to boot!
Her Bowery Ballroom show Wednesday night showcased deep cuts and newer material (not so much the hits). Great show, she and the band were tight. Also came in about and hour and 15 minutes.@@somelikeithot63
I saw the Pretenders live at Live Aid in 1985 in Philly, and they were actually the best band at that show (on the Philly side). Saw them a couple of years later at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and they tore the place apart....top 5 show for me out of perhaps hundreds that I've been to.
Part of the reason I went last night in Pittsburgh was to see The Pretenders as I'm trying to watch many of the surviving Live Aid participants in concert and see which ones will sign my shirt.
@@ivanscottself9077 Yeah thats where I first came across them. Of course I got nowhere near Chrissie but so far its been signed by Graham Nash, Rick Springfield, Paul Young, Howard Jones and 4 of the five Hooters that were there. Andy king from the Hooters has agreed to sign it if I'm ever in Philly.
Thanks a ton for this. I was there last night. Great show. My first Pretenders show. A real rock band . . . for all the hillbilly's in Ohio !! ha ha ha
Her music is timeless I remember always seeing them on mtv in the 80s….brass in pocket was always my favorite She looked hot as a waitress also 😂 She still looks great and sounds great and her lineup is excellent
Ever since the first video appeared here on YT of the Pretenders' pre-tour shows, I immediately noticed that Martin was absent. And since then, there has been no explanation of his whereabouts. It seems to be very secretive. I just hope it's not a health issue.
Martin comes and goes, has other gigs. He hasn't played on every album since 2002 and does not always go out on the road. Just saw the show at the Bowery and she gave a shout out to him, that "he sends his love"
Thanks for the upload! Wow, Chrissie Hynde is 71 and killing it. I've always liked her and the Pretenders' music. This is a real treat.
Chrissie seems to rock forever. She is amazing. She can still hit the high notes, too.
Saw them once and will see them in Pittsburgh this Friday night. She still sounds amazing. Kick ass rock chick unlike the crap coming out nowadays...
Great video, thanks for the upload.
WOW this was a joy to see & hear….thank you so much…early days of punk brought back in a flash.
Chrissie is 72 and still sings the same 👍👍!!

Not only do I enjoy her music but I also admire the amount of energy she has.

She says she is doing this so she can headline the much smaller venues that she prefers!
