    By the way.. that is the most beautiful pantry I have seen in years. My mother had a pantry/root cellar growing up. It was excellent yet not nearly as big as yours.. just beautiful and well done

      Thank you sooo much! I’ve owned 2 farms. My first pantry was tiny. It was under the stairway. This is an actual room. I LOVE all the space. Thanks for watching.

    Totally agree I’m almost 72 started preparing in 2020. I do everything you’ve talked about except freeze drying. I do keep and eye on Amazon when the freeze dried items go down in price. Or do the Amazon 3 month payment no interest charged. It makes me so sad for my son who will be 50 April 1st And my 25 yr old grandson. My son thinks I’m losing it. But you and I know what’s coming. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you ❤️🙏🏻.

      I almost commented on what our children think. We have 6 grown kids. Unfortunately they are not onboard with stocking up or seeing what’s happening. I’m afraid for them. So all we can do is pray and make sure we store enough for them as well. Thank you for your comment. It’s encouraging that others have their eyes opened.

      Not a week goes by that I'm not adding to my pantry. Weather I'm getting extra dry goods or dehydrating something for the pantry shelves I always try to add something weekly. These are scary unknown times. We just don't know where or when something is going to take place. Bless us all. Especially the unprepared. 🍳🍲

      @@JustDoSomethingHomestead That’s all we can do I believe in the power of prayer and will continue to prepare and pray for all those that just are so blinded by every thing going on. Stay safe.🙏🏻

    Gm. I left u a message for u telling u how much i like your videos. I have been prepping for awhile but i still have questions on certain things to vacuum sealing. I know not to put oxygen observers in salt and sugar. But can i put salt in jars for vacuum sealing? Or should i put them in food grade buckets with a gamma lid? The buckets will take up room. So I was hoping in jars would be ok. I trust u with the videos i saw already. Oh and what about flour in vacuum sealing? I know to put cupcake cups in the top. But should i put oxygen observers in jar and if so how many CC's? Sorry for do many questions. Ty for all your videos. I hope people take your advice. Because when stuff hits the fan no one will be coming to your rescue. There are going to be alot of hungry people. They need to stock up on meds too. Over the container as well as prescription. It may seem to much to do but just doing one thing a day it will add up. Just start small. Sorry this is long. Ty again. Blessing to u. Hope your channel continues to grow. Stay safe.

      I put my salt in jars. My main reason is that I can’t lift the 5 gallon buckets. They’re just too heavy for me. I vacuum seal flour too. I don’t use oxygen absorbers. They seem redundant to me since the air is removed. But I read an article saying that although the air is sucked out, some still remains. That makes sense. So I may start adding them to items I’m planning to store long term. Great questions!

    My son and I found our favorite chips on sale and bought 4 (Taco Doritos). Can I vacuum seal chips or will they crumble?

    • @JustDoSomethingHomestead
      @JustDoSomethingHomestead  6 месяцев назад +1

      They won’t crumble but they will become rancid because of the oils in them. Vacuum sealing chips isn’t recommended. But it’s a great job of finding food on sale!

    Thank you for the education. I buy freeze dried ingredients from Amazon and Walmart like onion, garlic and broths. This way I can make soups or dry mixes(onion soup mix) and control the sodium. My family thinks I have gone off the deep end until they need something like toilet paper. Have a blessed day.

    If you use bags, either plastic or Mylar, a vacuum chamber sealer is far superior to any home level vacuum sealer. A chamber sealer is made to an industrial standard and is far more sturdy. I have gone through several home type sealers and have limited confidendce in their durability. The best part of the vacuum chamber sealer is that they can use any bag and do not need a special type of bag and since the sealing time is adjustable they can seal Mylar bags for added preservation security. The chamber sealers also are superior in sealing powers and liquids as they work by drawing air out of the entire chamber rather than just pulling it out of the bag.
