    This is a beautiful Summer train ride in such a beautiful environment. The Sun works so well with you in this video as it shines from behind you and lights up what is in front of you. Bits and pieces of this run are other-worldly and I just love them … other pieces are just so cozy village, warm field and Summer-friendly. So much good viewing in one video. The run between 2:25:44 to 2:28:05 transported me to a whole, new, alien world. Thank you so much for taking me there!❤❤❤

    Is it me or does this engineer seem to be having a bad day? Blows his horn once, a mile and three tunnels away from a crossing. And then I guess he expects people to jump on board with any luggage. Dude set at Voss station, to pick people up, for seven seconds! That almost seems dangerous! What about elderly people who can't move quickly? With that being said though this is first vid of yours I'm watching and it's amazing! Makes me want to move to Norway with those views! 😍

      First of all: *she, not he.
      Second: I have edited the videos so that the stops are MUCH shorter than they are in real life. Usually we have several minutes on each station, depending on traffic or delays. Of course I use the mirrors before I close the doors to make sure that no one is in danger. And the conductor is making sure that people are entering the train safely, it's a team work.
      Third: Thanks for watching and commenting :)

    The driver's seat on the locomotive you are driving looks lovely and comfortable, and I suspect is adjustable enough to give you as much leg room as you desire... unlike the pox-ridden cramped driver's seats I had to endure on the British Rail class 150 DMUs that eventually caused me to take early retirement after 40 years service.... Retirement is however the best job I've ever had.... Enough about me.... You always make intersting and scenic videos...

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  4 года назад

      Yep :D It's the sister version of the RE460 :D We had one engine here from the LOK2000 project, and the engineers smashed on a sticker of a moose on it, so it is running somewhere in Switzerland with that logo on. :)
      The Norwegian technicians did not trust carbon fiber reservoirs and equipped them with standard steel ones. That made the loco to heavy so they reduced the size of the engines, ending up with a total of 7500hp compared to the RE460s 8200hp :)
      The EL18 is probably the most successful and versatile acquirement that then NSB ever did.

I’ve always loved Norway and have been back twice since that early visit as a little boy. On my last visit I saw Kraftwerk play in Bergen and then took the morning train to Oslo to see them play the following evening there. That in itself was such a beautiful train journey. Hi, RCG, always glad to see your postings and videos. I love watching your country's scenery go by.
    I am confused by the signage at trackside - specifically, the yellow diamond-shaped signs - some have a horizontal line across them, while others have a vertical line; and some others have both vertical and horizontal lines. Are these all signals for you to sound your horn? Or are there other meanings to these signs?
    Thanks again, and keep up these fabulous videos! :-)

    • @RailCowGirl

    I had the privilege of being a locomotive engineers assistant in New Zealand for 4 years learning to drive. Way way back in the day. Circumstances prevailed against me and that was as far as it went for me. Sure miss the cab. Anyway these wonderful videos certainly bring back fond memories. I do have a question though. What are all those wooden tall fence like structures dotting the landscape. A good example would be at 2:27:02 in the video. Orange ones. Can anyone tell me.

    • @oeo061
      @oeo061 2 года назад

      Since no one helped you out so far, I'll take it on me; The wooden structures are snow fences. These mountainous areas typically have harsh winters with 2-3 metres of snow and a lot of snowdrift even on a moderately windy day, not to mention during the quite regular storms.
      The snow fence makes the snowdrift settle down and accumulate behind them, instead of covering and clogging the railway track.

    Lovely video!
    When I saw the other video (with the tree fiasco) and you arrive at Voss-
    I thought: "What's that in the sky?"
    So after a little searching and such, I'm interested in the Voss Gondol.
    You know, the tourist board owes you a great deal...

    I love the new images, especially the tunnels, it's so much better than it used to be. Keep up the great work. You're the best at what you do and I still get that peaceful feeling from watching your videos during the time of COVID-19

    They should put a fake station in one of the tunnels with actors paid to dress up like the Morlong mole people of the underworld standing on the cavernous underground platform when the train stops there. They should have large dark eyes and be covered with moles. Just to freak out the passengers, men should escort them onto the train with cattle prods at the ready and put them in separate compartments. ...Just a constructive thought.

    I am really enjoying this film, the amount of work that has gone into making the tunnels is unbelievable and when this one has finished I will look forward to the next, which won’t be too long I hope

    "hyperlapse yourself to work" :-)
    As a child, I wanted to be engine-driver (and rock star and rally driver), but alas, not good enough eyesight. And since then, everything goes to hell, a now I'm almost 50 and struggling to find a reason to wake up every day. ;-) Welp... I'll watch another railcowgirl, very well done, Norway rulez, thank you.

    A few questions from a newbie. How many tunnels on this route? How many kilometers is the longest tunnel? Why does the driver blow the horn in the middle of nowhere when there are no crossings?

    I really enjoyed this LONGEST RUclips train video I have ever seen and thanks for sharing. Just wish that there was much more sunshine in the video other than near the end which I especially loved with the gorgeous scenery bathed in sunlight. Not sure why the engineer blasts the horn so much when there are no crossings. GREAT views from the cab, rain or shine, especially with the endless tunnels. Thanks again for sharing.

      Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it :) I have other videos with more sunshine than in this one on my channel. Unfortunately I cannot change the weather...
      For the horn, look for the yellow diamond shaped signs. The ones with a horizontal line, means level crossing. The ones with a vertical line means station or halt. If the sign has both lines/a cross, it means there is a station/halt and crossing ahead. Hope that was helpful :)

      @@RailCowGirl Thanks for your comments and explaining things for me that I was wondering about, especially about the train horns. Much appreciated. Yes, you cannot control the weather but sunshine does add to the beauty of the scenery that surrounds the trains. I have subscribed to your YT page and will enjoy more of your videos. Cheers from New Mexico USA!
