Hey so i was wondering if you think the MRI will ever become a more accessible tool to the public like do you think it's possible to make a portable MRI so people can experiment at home i imagine it would be expensive but imagine what discoveries people would make it only too a couple years of the people with Google maps to find craters and mane its like what if every person had access to LIDAR i would love to see the local discoveries mane the amateur local folk discovering planets like we need money to make this more accessible to the public like i want to experiment on my dog and myself to see what action cause what part of my brain to be stimulated and understand myself better
@@xanv8051 understand your point although there's a lot of safety concerns with MRI! I suppose if there's guns and explosives available to the public then maybe we should be trusted with MRI. LIDAR is actually very accessible due to it being a feature on the latest iPhones!
I cannot go in. I tried numerous times and screamed with fear. The being tied down with your arms pinned down is the thing. When your arms are not tied down it is bearable. I do think you should provide music. My last MRI (head MRI) I was given sedation first and it went really well. In Spain. I mentioned to the specialist that MRI was an issue because of the claustrophobia.
Yeaaahh! This is amazing once again BBC you open my mind, I have been wanting to pursue psychology, and eventually animal psychology and have had people laugh in my face about it. This proves,to me at least, that we are not alone on Earth we have many intelligent being here with us if we can't understand how the creatures work or think that we live with on earth, how can we try and communicate with an advanced civilization (if they exsist)? The point being Thank You, all of you for doing amazing videos and teaching us possibilities of the world we live on, in and around.... or flat whatever your perspective

well Mri‘s of cats are not uncommon but they are completely sedated they can be trained to lay still for a very short moment but in a loud MRI is it impossible

It is baffling that we can clearly recognize that animals have minds and yet we cannot recognize their personhood. We recognize that there is clearly something it is like to be a dog, a fish, a human, a pig, and so on, (by some studies often with common thinking) and still, we deny them a basic fundamental right that we provide to all people who are human: the right not to be property. To be property is to be a thing. It is clear that both humans and animals are in a class of their own, in the known universe, in that they are subjectively aware, they are sentient beings, beings with preferences and not just things with no intrinsic value. Because they are beings with preferences such as the preference not to suffer and a preference to feel good (happy), we ought to accord some basic moral value that we owe to them such as not using them exclusively as resources or means of another; that is what we found wrong with human slavery, in that it treated subjectively aware beings like things, yet we still practiced that injustice on animals. If you agree that animals are beings to whom we have some moral obligations to such as not imposing on them unnecessary suffering than you are committed to living as a Vegan. Being Vegan means, you do not eat, wear, or use animals or animal products to the extent practicable with the goal of abolishing all animal use because such use cannot be morally justified. To learn more about the subject check out Professor's Gary L Francione's book: Why Veganism Matters (The Moral Value of Animals).
The Vegans are going to have a field day with this one. I wonder what Chicken,Cow,& pig brains look like under the same conditions. Granted getting a control would be difficult because the fMRI would probably terrify a cow and pig.
Actually cows are very trainable, some trainers say even more than a horse, so it's possible that they could be trained to do something similar. Making them fit inside would be the hard bit...!
Of course there is a selection bias in action here. Those dogs who can make through the "holding still" training are probably a lot more intelligent than dogs at large. So it may not be representative.
My pug which is considered one of the lesser intelligent breed can hold still for as long as I want him to and he does 30 different tricks. It's the knowledge of how animals (humans) work that matters. I have trained my aquarium fishes the same way and they accomplished tricks (since sound doesn't travel well in water, I used a laser pointer instead of a clicker to accomplish the same thing). 20 years ago I had a horse that was considered a GENIUS horse by people that didn't know any better, a whip was used to accomplish the same as a clicker (Stop watching The Dog Whisperer if you really want to understand animal behaviour because that show is absolutely retarded.) All animals including humans respond to reward based training. Would you go to work everyday if there wasn't a pay-check at the end of the week ? An Animal's pay-check is a treat, a pat or tug of war session with their favorite toy.
The frontal lobe is known as the executive center of the brain and controls important cognitive skills..!! It's literally our control center. There's lots of research out there for your to study and it's fascinating..! Happy researching..!! .

Looking at them briefly and diverting your vision, then doing a different action to show positive acknowledgement is usually better on these occasions. But not all animals act the same, It's natural. Yeah, but that's how its gonna be, one day the insects and animals are going to eat us too and we will pass away and the circle of life will go on and on, this Earth is nothing compared to the heaven God has kept for us. So much we dont know makes me mad lol

How is it that cats have smaller brains yet are a lot smarter? Dogs are too dumb to even sit still for an MRI scan. Why is it that all of these people who study animal intelligence give them more credit than they deserve? They aren't "a lot smarter than we give them credit for", they're doing what we have known them to do for millenia - they associate their owners with caregivers and get emotionally excited around them in anticipation of feeding. Who needs a PhD & MRI scanner to figure this one out?
Dude cats aren't really that smart, coming from a dog and cat owner. Dogs are a lot more emotionally intelligent and interact and understand a lot more than cats do.
what most people might think of as intelligence in cats is just caution, because they're smaller, less social and lower down in the food chain. i'm just surprised that, considering most people use humans as a benchmark, someone would place cats above dogs seeing that behaviourally, dogs are a hell of a lot closer to humans. they're more sociable, they have a social hierarchy, they hunt much in the same way as humans used to in prehistory (endurance hunting - running down prey). i guess some humans have trouble getting dogs to understand our verbal cues. most of the time the misunderstanding is mutual, as the human in question fails to comprehend the physical cues used by dogs to communicate.
First off, since when did brain size ever matter. "How is it that cats have smaller brains yet are a lot smarter than dogs" hm I don't know, how is it that you are smarter than a whale yet it's brain is larger than 6 times the size of your head, oh wait you aren't lol. What matters more is the ratio of the brain size to the body mass (which cats have a higher EQ than dogs)
Blundering Tusk Ever think that dogs have those underlying traits because.....we domesticated them that way. Ohhh...... and cats have less of those traits because.... they have been domesticated for a much shorter period of time than dogs have. You guys are comparing dog's social and emotional skills to cats in relation to human expectation which is a incredibly skewed perspective and logically incoherent when looking at such a situational and broad subject such as intelligence. Of course dogs are going to be more obeying, cooperative, and empathetic than cats because we've bred them that way for much longer than we have had the chance to for cats. A more fair comparasion would be a wild big cat to some wolf speicies of sorts.
