Miami Dade College marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its new School of Justice Emergency Operations Lab, Cyber-Range, and 9-1-1 Dispatch Training Lab. Spanning 120,000 square feet across two stories, this versatile building was repurposed from an old airplane hangar from its days as a Navy Airport.
Designed to cater to MDC programs in law enforcement, security, corrections, firefighting, and EMS academic accreditation and certification, the facility boasts state-of-the-art amenities. Beyond serving students, it offers a dynamic environment for police trainees, featuring scenario role-play areas, isolation drills, and an officer survival city. Among its offerings are a rappelling tower, defensive tactics rooms, a 12-lane firearms training range, virtual judgment simulation labs, and tactical driving simulators aimed at honing officers' emergency and crisis mitigation skills.
The building encompasses a range of specialized spaces, including a Vitra Blue Fire training lab, a tactical lab, a 9-1-1 Dispatch Training Lab, an Emergency Center Operation lab, a mock courtroom, and a designated intake and physical training room areas. Additionally, it houses eight classrooms, further enriching the educational experience for students pursuing careers in public safety and emergency response.
