its not healthy tho :/ that sound are the vocal cords hitting each other in an unhealthy way and this is on of the ways you can get nodes...
its debatable that there are people with "raspy" voices naturally but i know that most have this "type pf tone" as a result of incorrect singing...btw i student of voice and have been studying it for 3 years now

I'm gonna be a bit of a troll, I'm a music major and the song was really good, but you need to blend your falsetto in with your chest voice more. Yes maybe you wanted that contrast, but I did not really like it. Also, some of the upper notes sounded autotuned. Either you happen to be that good or you need to work on intonation up there. If I were you I would have transposed the song down maybe a whole step. You are really good though, this is just some constructive criticism.
Also a lot of the notes were strained up there and that is in this style of music, I just thought it was a little too much
im also a music major, and i agree that his voice strained on the high notes but also remember he is doing it in full chest voice meaning strained-like sound will going and going to appear if he pulled it up. i guess he need to learn how to use his mix voice.
So what do you two think of the versions done by Chase Holfielder, Caleb Hyles and Hearts and Hands? They're all rock tenors doing it in the original key I think.
