Don't forget to read description about drawer.

I have since thought about an alternative way to not damage the snap-on front to the tray.
Remove and replace the drawer and front cover at the same time, this means we don't have to possibly destroy the drawer front snap-on. The front drawer snap-on is TOO tight.
To remove, undo top-front metal strip and then remove front panel and drawer together.
To put back on, as soon as drawer is half way slid on then screw the front-top metal strip in place. Then screw the front panel on as per normal.
I wish I had of thought of this earlier but I was so used to removing the front snap-on first, as per every other disc drive.
Try this, let me know how it goes.

I just soaked the old rubber drive belt off my CD in boiling water and refitted it and it works! The heat does something to the rubber so as long as your belt isn't toast try it to save a few bob!

Great video! It looks like surgery to me. Pins, screwdriver, screws etc. etc. Thank you nurse. 😄

Great video , but what is the size of the belt as there are numerous on the market of different sizes?

I don't think it's that important, it's only for the drawer. I might have got mine from www.vintage-electronics.net/ which is where I get most belts.

I now have a spare laser assy in case I need it in the future. A$18 incl post from AliExpress.
Only thing this player doesn't do is HDCD but I have only 1 or 2 HDCD discs anyway so no big deal.

I've recently purchased a used one in great condition just for cds and sacds , can you tell me when playing hybrid cds should the sacd light be on or is this for non hybrid sacds. The sound of all cds has improved and hybrid sound better but this may my imagination.

@@chrismogford2022trip I think my problem is that I haven't got it connected to a monitor as it needs to be as setup information is available on screen only. I have the instruction book and checked it out as I only wanted it for cds. So will buy one as I may use it occasionally for video. Thanks for your help.

@@peterlester8830 It doesn't require a monitor. just keep pressing the button to cycle through types. Indicators show with different colours.

@@peterlester8830 I think its because you may be using only CDs. You need a SACD in it to change layers.

It the tray doesn't want to budge at all, there is a 1cm round hole in the metal bracket on the left side of the CD mechanism. Sticking a screwdriver inside it and pushing slightly will lower the lens part and allow the tray to come out. (There is a kind of lever about midway underneath the mechanism and that hole is there specially for that)
