I definitely agree that Cher paved the way for many. Where I’d make a little asterisk is with Madonna. Madonna travelled on the same path as Cher but took it to a completely different level, and I wouldn’t say anyone that’s followed Madonna has really surpassed her… yet. Maybe someone will, but Madonna is still the queen. Much props to Cher and all the trailblazers who came before.

Umm she just wrapped up a world tour and performed to over 1 million people in Brazil! 1 million people! Cher's last album was a Christmas album. Love Love Cher but she and Madonna are on two different levels. Madonna is the best-selling female artist of all time.
Lol Madonna has no talent... can't sing or act...just dance. She did market herself well...and stole from everyone. As Patty Lupone said "Madonna couldn't act her way out of a paper bag."
As for origins, Madonna was 8 when Cher topped the charts in the ‘60s and a teenager. 18 years later Madonna had her first big radio hit with "Holiday." The next year Cher got her first Oscar nomination.
I love she's so honest about anything, even about what she don't like at all. She's a megastar but at the same time very down to earth.
I love how real Cher is. There are no pretenses, she just says what she feels and means and never apologizes for anything. She is a great woman!

Cher has a large house near the ocean and unfortunately became a victim of Marina deception, where a vessel was hired for Mrs Holt collided with a maritime structure. Fortunately Mrs Holt was OK but Cher had a large ship to repair or face loosing her Marina holdings.

Pushing the limits is a quality of Cher, when the world thinks oh she's too old now, well Cher comes back looking younger than ever and above all she comes back with a new success. She is the definition of a Star. I'm glad we never saw Cher on RUclips for her skincare routine, without makeup like so many other celebrities do. She remains mysterious there in her beautiful Malibu home. She's a Star beyond Stars ✨💙✨

Such great memories of growing up with Cher, decade by decade!
Her 3 Casablanca albums in the late 70's helped her tremendously to stay in the spotlight, keep going in her Vegas shows, and move her right into movies in the 80's. Despite what critics say, she took care of her career and today her career takes care of her. And that is how you survive in Hollywood.

Cher was marketed, shaped, and controlled by Sonny in many ways.
They were packaged together and Sonny balanced her out, making her more palatable to skeptical audiences.

Just because someone happens to be older than someone else doesn’t mean they directly PAVED the way for the career of the younger person… I mean, sure, they did theoretically do something, to "pave the way", by coming BEFORE, like possibly bringing up some industry problems or issues, but all performers will inevitably confront their own industry issues… Cher did bring sexy outfits and style to the forefront. But the 60s and 70s were also a time of hippies, disco, sexiness, sex appeal becoming more prominent, and Cher’s looks were no exception. But I’d say Cher was more among the classier stars of her day.
They are from different worlds and really can't / shouldn't be compaired.
