  • The sunset on 8/9/06 between Calais and Dover. Unfortunately after a full day in Calais wolfing down Calvados and wine, I was pretty drunk when I took this and it is in no particular order. I also used various different camera settings. I just love all the colours and shadows. Music by Hawkwind: Hurry on Sundown.

Always cry when I hear this. Makes me think of our Mum.
Since her death in 2019 I've had a bad habit of sitting in her room with this on the headphones and weeping.
Sweet Jesus when someone dies they are so totally gone, and leave so little behind. A few clothes, her books and photo albums. Not much for an entire life.

Harmonica on this track is insanely good. Why Hawkwind didn't continue on occasion to explore more tunes like this throughout their career is beyond me. This is a work of art. Sounds like a great song to start a live concert. Impeccable musicianship, catchy melody and one of my desert island songs for sure.

My favorite song 36 years ago - and it sounds just as good now. I used to run home from school at dinner time, put the sterio speakers each side of my head and play it full blast. The teachers couldn't do anything with me in the afternoons. I'd refuse to wear my uniform, dress up in crazy cloths and make my hair stand on end. I eventually found Stonehenge Free festival in 1976 and ended up living in an old bus. I blame it all on this song and the sort of people who played it. R You mad like me?

I wasn't born in the 1970s, I've never dropped acid, I've never been a burnout... But just listening to this song gives me a taste of what the 60s/70s must have felt like. It's something ancient and profound, yet new and exciting. I can imagine lying in a field surrounded by naked hippie chicks and bearded men, listening to this, mellowing out and watching the clouds roll by. This song is sort of melancholy for me. Makes me feel like I missed something.

you did miss something ! they played lots of free festivals in and around Sussex in the early 70's , I've been sitting in a tent with Nick Turner on such an occasion !

This is my favourite Hawkwind song, and as it's the first tune on their first album you could say it was all downhill after that. But no, respect to a band that's always gone it's own way

Hawkwind has many fantastic tracks but this.....this Hurry On Sundown is astonishing. They have never done another track quite like this one and may be the only track another artist could cover. Hawkwind with a brilliant harmonica melody? But it all works -- the drums are thick and tight -- acoustic guitars are aggressive and the melody just sticks in the mind. I never tire of it.

I was exactly same at school, even did the speakers to the head thing, did some free festivals too. But didn't take it to the limit and live on bus etc. This is one of my all time favourite tunes

When i re-read my comment i actually cringed with embarrassment. It was a pathetic thing to type and i apologise to all and any that might find it offensive or whatever. Thanks for keeping things in order by replying and putting me in the right place.
