Thanks for the video. Looks very simple to change. Bought the jbl charge 5 and went from it lasting about 6 hours/ 6.5 hours or so on maxed volume to it lasting about 1.5 hours in less then a month. If I have the volume turned down lower sometimes I get an extra 30/ 40 mins play time out of it. Never seen a battery corrupt so fast in my life. Hoping once I replace it won’t happen again… Or at least for a while anyway.
Did you buy it brand new? I don’t think it’s normal for it to only last for 1.5 hours on max volume especially only having it less than a month. You should contact jbl since yours is still under a warranty and get the battery replaced or get a new one brand new

It was good for making pedestrians get out the way (ominous music closing in). I recently started using it as a PC speaker and saw that I only had around 6 hours of playtime with only 10-20% volume which was completely unacceptable. I then removed the battery cover to check it and to no surprise, the battery was full of swolen spots and ''sweat''. I ordered a replacement battery, it seems easy enough to replace by yourself, only a small screw driver and some patience needed. If I would've sent it to warranty they'd just say that I misused it (which I did but that's beyond the point). This was only after one year and a few months of using it while cycling. Not really designed for wear and tear!
I might be a bit late to reply to this but I also carry my Charge 5 quite a lot when cycling too, there are rubber cases with sling sold online and AliExpress to further protect your device frpm wear (even the rubber part from below), they also come with a sling so you can have your speaker around ypur torso and avoid friction, I wanted to ask you if you blasted your speaker at 100% vol. During the year and a half? Do you think the battery lasted long enough for you?

Some of the screws were seized up, as a contribution to your video I'd like to share how to remove these screws easily. use a soldering iron and heat up the head of the screw, and remove screws easily. You failed to add that there are two models, the ND and the TL. You have the TL model. Open the ND model's outer housing from the side without the feet first because there are two screws there on the feed side. I fout out almost ruining 1 speaker housing

Nice fix but is the battery light supposed to stay on all the time? Mine dose not shut off and I’m thinking bits draining my battery the speaker is only a couple months old snd full charge will drain slowly just sitting??? Also do you recommend the fast chargers ? My jbl charge 5 Has a faulty battery level sensor it charges to what it thinks is 100% and then dies is about two mins once i plug it in it immediately returns to 100% and repeat would a battery replacement fix this problem

If not gonna use it for long periods of time (2+ months) try to keep it at like 60-80%. Otherwise it's totally fine to leave it charged for a while or dead.

Wouldn't make sense as the amplifier would still output the same volume. And you won't find speakers that will fit in the case, and probably wont sound as good as the speakers are specifically designed for this speaker and amplifier. It's essentially like expecting to go faster in a car by making the tires wider
I bought a brand new JBL charge 5 2 weeks ago. The battery only seems to last 5-6 hours for me on high volume. I use it while at work and leave it on top the dash of my truck. Is this normal battery performance? I thought it was advertised for 15-20 hours
The box says 20h, but the manual I found on the site has a detail: It depends on the volume used and the music. A joke. You should make your own battery pack with Panasonic NCR18650GA 3450mAh 10A Batteries, it would add another like 8ish hours of playtime to your speaker.

Just got a slightly used JBL Charge 5 for $80 and wanted to keep it as long as possible.

la batería debería durar mucho tiempo, si no la vida útil del altavoz. Nunca he recibido ninguna batería 18650 que me haya salido mal.
