- I am obsessed with watching baby name videos - here are 12 girl and 12 boy names that I love but probably won't use, and why. Let me know your thoughts in a comment! What are your favorite names?

I worked in the neonatal ICU for years and saw some CRAZY names for babies. I came up with a rule that before you name your baby, you should picture them as a baby, a middle schooler, and a powerful CEO with that name. If it doesn’t fit all three scenarios, please don’t pick that name. 😂
Justine Brice this is great advice! That’s what I kept telling myself when thinking of names for my son - can I picture a CEO with this name?
MelsMakeup88 Exactly! A lot of good names sound good for a baby. But not so much for a middle schooler or CEO. 😆
Firstly, thank you for your work. My son spent 106 days in 2 different NICUs and NICU nurses have a special place in my family's heart ❤. But, back to your comment...as soon as someone hears my son's name they always say it sounds very presidential; Aedric James Theodore. And Aedric seems to be working really well as an infant and toddler 🙂
My middle name is "Snow" and I just love it as a middle name. The reason why it's my middle name is because when my parents came over to Canada from Vietnam and were pregnant with me, it was the first time they saw snow!

I always loved the name Tristan, but I would rather name my daughter that name. Because I think it’s more girly, but I love the name Phoenix
James Goot sounds awesome but Snow Goot sounds too much like Snow Boot. Good call on letting that one go. Maybe for a pet?
My cat's name is Adelaide! We call her Addie, or Badelaide, or Fatelaide, or Catelaide, or just Fatty.

Our little boys name is Henry ❣️ we don’t hear it very often! He is such a Henry, too! Strong, handsome and a complete sweetheart!

You did a really good job of giving real and interesting reasons why you love these names and why you might not use them. These videos are usually boring because all they ever say is "It's such a cute name, I don't know I just love it!".
Henry Goot (in my opinion) sounds good together and is a good solid traditional, royalty related name; especially with the middle name Scott I think it sounds quite excellent together. *Henry Scott Goot* or even *Scott Henry Goot* flows really beautifully.
If they’re going with a royal theme than Louis could be good too! My cousin is Henry and that’s a good one for sur e

Wait I hate that everyone else didn't like Elliot because I could totally see you with a little boy named Elliot... honestly some of these names shocked me that you liked them (I guess because James is such a traditional name I assumed you like more traditional names) but Elliot was one that I was like YES that just fits your child!!

Henry would be cute with your last name
Have you considered Silas for a boy? It gives me the same feel as your list. It's an older name, slightly southern, two syllable, goes well with Goot - Silas Goot. James and Silas. It's my top name but my husband doesn't love it and our last name starts with S anyway so I probably wouldn't use this.
Caroline P how do you pronounce that? is it exactly how its spelt? if not can u spell it phonetically im very curious!
Emily C I'd say it's pronounced how it's spelled. Sigh-lass. The older son on Weeds was named Silas if that helps
Fowler would be great boy name
Sebastian Scott Goot sounds sooo good. Love that combo. And I've always been a huge fan of the name Tristan as well but would probably never use it either.

Valentina and Sofia are super common names in Chile and Argentina and I think I have some 6 cousins with those names there. I had a co-worker last named White and he named his daughter Snow. Most people at work thought it was a bad idea but would not tell him. You really should have taken into account how many times she will have to deal with this name throughout her life.
Snow Goot would be teased at school and called Snow Boot or Ugg or something!

Snow Goot all I hear is Snow Boot, but I do love the name Snow.
I’ve had Sebastian on my list forever and love Bash for short, but I NEVER hear people suggesting it!! It’s always Seb, Sebs, Sebbie 🤢 hate all 3 but Bash is so handsome 🥰

I love your idea of uploading lots of videos whilst we are all in isolation. So thoughtful and smart! I’ve been wondering why people weren’t putting out more videos because nows the time we are all watching more content!
When I was in high school I decided that I would have 5 sons. Because, you know, you have a choice in this matter. My sons would be named Michael, Gabriel, Liam, Aiden and Caleb. Fast forward to my early 20s when I met my would-be husband and he said that HIS sons would have African names because we're (South) African. 5 or so years later we welcomed 2 boys into the world and named them Amri (Swahili : Power) and Kudjo (Swahili : Monday's Child). Amri was born at 28 weeks (3 months prem) and he certainly powered through his first 7 weeks of life in incubation. And Kudjo, low and behold, was born on a Monday.

My oldest daughter's name is Liliana and a lot of people call her Lily. I call her Lana.

I’m 24 weeks pregnant and we have decided on the name Clementine June if it’s a girl! My husband doesn’t really like Minnie for a nickname so we are using Cici. If this baby is a boy we like Atticus!! We already have a little boy named Phoenix. You have great taste!!
You have beautiful taste in names! I loved every name on your list...we have very similar naming styles, it seems. But I feel you on the one syllable last name thing. When I was a teenager I only wanted to go by "Jenn" because I thought it sounded more "grown-up" than Jenny and now I regret it because everyone STILL knows me as Jenn almost 15 years later and I hate the way it sounds with my last name lol. I think Snow is a gorgeous name but I did kind of chuckle when you said "Snow Goot" lol. Maybe if you paired it with a longer middle name, though it could work!!

Sebastian was my favorite for my second son, but husband was not on board with that. Like you, I love the nick name 'Bash'. I have a Balian (boy 4 yr), Liam (boy 2 year), and my daughter Esme Celes (5 months). Balian, Liam, Esme. In my head I always still think what it would have been like if it were Balian, Sebastian, and Esme. But let me tell you, my Liam is a fireball. He would have fit Sebastian well haha
Hey Elle, been watching since 8th grade and now I’ve been married for a year- I’ve literally grown with you lol. While watching this video something interesting I thought of is when considering baby names my husband and I have to think about nicknames but also how it sounds in Spanish. Sebastián sounds dignified and intelligent in Spanish. I also like that name.

I am pregnant and I am choosing names for my list with meanings that I love. Our top boy name currently is Matthew Saul which means "prayed for gift," (we tried for 8 years for this pregnancy), but some of the more classic names that you might be able to talk your husband into could be Asher or Theodore. Asher sounds very modern and cool, but is an old Biblical name that means happiness. Theodore means "devine gift" and lends itself well to a variety of nicknames that could grow with the child. Also, both would sound cute with your accent.

Some of these names I really love but since we live in Germany I'm always looking at how names will be pronounced in German and the most beautiful English name might sound terrible 😅
We're currently selecting names for our second baby which is due in october but we don't know for sure if it's a boy or girl (OB said 80% girl but I've had so many friends who were also told the same but got a boy in the end).
We have a little girl called Melinda Josephine. For a girl we currently love Cassandra, Olivia, Mathilda and Felicia and for boys Theodor, Corvin, Oscar and Tristan are top of the list ❤
Our baby boy is due in August and we are naming him Sullivan and calling him “Sully” I’m in love with his name💙

Our toddler's name is Dante Gael, I love Luna too and Cove but being Mexican I always try for all names to sound well in Spanish and English. Also, something that goes well with our last name (Marquez) Lucca and Bruno are my top two for another boy. Not sure yet for a girl but we like Ellie and Lumiere ( maybe even as first and middle name).

Both of my top baby names have always been in honor of my Grandpa. Leo if I have a boy (cause he went by his middle name and we always called him Grandpa Leo), and Charlotte for a girl with the nickname Charlie (because his first name was Charles).
Like your husband I prefer more traditional baby names. I also have a granddaughter called Clementine which I love. For a boy have you considered Edmund? Not as common as Edward and I started typing this comment just before you mentioned Caspian and I was going to mention Narnia. I have a friend with a three year old Caspian. It’s a great name.
