One of the better done parts of the game, both the helmet scene and the actual escape sequence. Bonus points for being able to play as Zero Suit Samus again for the first time since Zero Mission and the reuse of this game's amazing version of the Ridley theme
I love how abrupt and sudden the alarm is. Every time I get to the escape, i lose my sh¡t when suddenly this tender moment is interrupted by "self destruction sequence activated"
For the people mentioning the flames/explosions during the sequence, it actually makes some degree of sense. A) The station was already HEAVILY damaged by that point. It's possible what we're seeing aren't intentional explosions, but rather gas leaks or other mechanisms going off. This is supported by the fact one of the first explosions shatters the windows - no one would intentionally design an explosion to shatter a window. B) Self destruction on most sci fi vessels usually involves ramping up the power core/reactor to the point of explosion, so it's likely not exactly a clean process C) Following the logic of 'it's not a clean process', it's probably not intended to be 'You must be out in exactly five minutes', but rather 'you have at most five minutes to get clear'. Think about a reactor meltdown - if someone told you you had five minutes to get out before a meltdown, chances are things are already in bad shape and it isn't exactly news that you have to leave. The aforementioned warning would be less 'In exactly five minutes, there is going to be a meltdown' and more 'At some point in the next five minutes, this place will be a smoldering crater, but you should have around five minutes to get to a safe distance'
Tbf they had abandoned the station and locked everything down Samus had to use power Bombs to access areas the Federation didn't know about (This station was primarily funded by the corrupt faction. The ones trying to breed Metroids and then wanting to capture SA-X in fusion)
It probably cost Samus so much energy that she can no longer use this power suit for a while (in zero missions she had to go to a Chozo temple to get it back, as a reminder).
Gotta agree. The alarm for the self-destruct going off just as Samus was trying to have a moment of emotional reflection when it did was a little insensitive.
Spectrum Shaytokun The story was an incoherent mess with bad writing and lots of plotholes concerning earlier games in the series. Lunacy well I did analyze everything. The possibility is that Samus saying it was her first joint mission with Adam since becoming a freelance. And also, Part of Prime 3s story shows that the Galactic Federation was using Phazon for its own purposes. It's theorized thanks to 3 and Federation Force plus the rumors that another Prime Game will be coming out on the NX that The Galactic Federation has possibly made a synthetic Phazon. It wouldn't be surprising if they did. Just because a government is portrayed 1 way, doesn't mean there won't be any corruption. Our honestly like what Other M has done. Another thing is that Samus may have not said anything at all about the events of prime because she wanted to forget that she had to kill her friends. I honestly wouldn't blame her. I have to be honest about something..I could bitch all day about everything right or wrong with Other M. But instead I feel that They could Remake the Game For NX in HD with better mechanics, a fixed script, and upgraded item locations of where Adam approves of her equipment or that her Varia suit is activated as soon as she hits the Firey areas. The game isn't bad. But it is still better than what they could have given us.
I apologize for sounding like an asshole, but the fact is, there's disliking, and then there's immature bashing because it doesn't meet someone expectations.
Spectrum Shaytokun I agree, a lot of the hate on this game is immature, but I find some of it valid. I remember watching a video about the 3D Metroid Analysis, where it doesn't hate on Other M per se, but shows what it did incorrectly in comparison to the Prime games. Search up 3D Metroid Dissection by TheGamingBrit.
A lot of people say this game is bad, but I kind of disagree. But then again I didn't play and complete all the Metroid games besides Other M, Fusion, and Zero Mission.
Gameplay-wise, this game isn't terrible, excluding the ninja-moves required to go first-person. Storywise? Please kill it with fire then nuke it from orbit. It's awful.
I honestly didn't find it to be terrible, either. I actually liked the way it showed Samus' human side by giving her a PTSD moment when she encounters Ridley and remembers how he killed her family as a kid and also by showing how she reacts when she sees how a man she loved like a father died to protect her. If there's anything for me to complain about with the gameplay, it's the parts where you have to point the Wii Remote at the TV and look around. I hated those scenes. Otherwise, I enjoyed how they adapted the traditional 2D Metroid gameplay to a 3D environment.
Wow, I have to say out of all the games on Metroid this had the best escape sequence (until Metroid Dread), definetly one of the redeeming qualities of this game.
I love this one I only have got to play this one which I got the true ending with credits in 2021 december I think and metroid dread Im completing rn at the moment.
Samus was the only person in the facility. The ship found that out once someone escapes through that door it gets sealed. That way people won't get lost and will be able to escape in the correct route.
the only part of other m that's well written not talking about samus going back for adam's helmet, im talking about the emotional moment of her hugging his helmet and then the game cuts to "station will blow up" its so good that i dont think sakamoto came up with it on his own lmao.
(haircilp girl) "awww how sweet, now I am bored self disturct" (samus) "oh shit I may want to get out of here now" (when she is at her ship) "oh goddammit I forgot the helmet, bloody self distructs"
Why would the galactic federation build a ship that starts exploding before everyone escapes **I edit this years later with actual demolition experience and it actually makes sense. Considering the bottle ship is still in the general area of society, the smaller explosions help weaken a structure to ensure the main detonation will vaporize all the smaller debris instead of all in one go. If it sends shit flying out into space it's likely going to rain down on somebody. Much like how a skyscraper needs to be weakened by breaking the central supports so the building falls in on itself after the explosion instead of falling sideways and killing a lot of people. I know I over thought this and it's just a game but I find it cool they added something not meaning to and it actually makes sense from a demolition perspective. Avoiding collateral damage. Plus I actually like this game despite it's faults **
They permitted her so she can go get what she was getting and that was Adam's Helmet but she took too long before the self destruct protocol began so blame Phantoom for interfering. haha!
Well, you activate a self destruct sequence only if really really needed. And if such a circumstance is there you want that shit to be blown to bits quite fast. That its actually 5minutes surprises me. I would rather have considered 1min or less. Yes i am aware your comment is 1year old.
Harley Quinn You can clearly see no one else is on the ship. Everyone is ordered off of it before the sequence is initiated. The warning is only there in case someone is still inside.
Because refresh pipelines of the reactor and other electric stuff are overloading for some obstruction or malfunction, the system is down and no one can't stability it except for the IA who determines nothing can fix it at this point so alert protocol is engage.
When I first played through this section, my Wii shut down from overheating (the Wii had a faulty fan) in the second to last room of the escape. I was not happy.

I heard about the stupid story of this game ... and here she was... Samus taking of her suit for NO REASON WHATSOEVER ... from one cutscene to another ... and then not putting it back on on her retreat ... ... wow, just wow...
Ultimate X I see the point, but if you look up a video of someone using the bomb arrows or bombs in Twilight Princess, plus, Link doesn't scream constantly. He also grunts and stuff. But the fact is, you usually barely hear it during battle (Don't want an argument started but just pointing it out as a long time zelda player)
There's actually a reason why Samus didn't re-equip her suit. She wouldn't have been able to carry Adam's helmet. Also this is the second best escape in Metroid. The Best one is Super Metroid's Zebes escape. If this escape is done perfectly, you can make it out in less than half the given time.
I red the wiki page of the space Pirates. It is mentioned at some point that the Pirates are following a strong leader with no obejections. They are absolutly loyal. Funny thing is. In the Metroid Manga I believe, it is mentioned that even Samus was considered a possible candidate as a Pirate leader. But I like the Prime Pirates far more. There they have the High command and in Prime 3 they didn't followed Dark samus from the beginning. It practicly ripped the Pirates a new hole nd then picked up what was left of them :D In Prime 1 and 2 where Mother Brain was dead the so called High command were the had led the Pirates and Meta Ridley in the Manga displayed as the first real leader of the Pirates was nothing more then another general or something like that. It's complicated cause there are no real official statements about the matter. But I stick with the Prime Pirates. They sound much more organised and intelligent than in the Game Boy and NES games.
I nver understand why everything explodes before the counter get's to zero. I mean...how are you as a normal dude able to evacuate when everything is blowing up from the very beginning XD
It's already preparing to explode and collapse. I wouldn't able to evacuate in self-destruct sequence even in 5 minutes, sunshine. I wonder when you just go to some random ass planet and the moment you are about to leave. Self-destruct and your like " oh shit. The fuck did I park my ship". Then you realise someone took it. Your like very scared that your physically and mentally unstable. You took the alternative path and chose suicide.
@24HallOfFame90 at least a "Damn!" like admiral dane said in metroid prime 3 (btw they took that line out of the trilogy version lol he says "No!" instead)
Awesome. This was a GREAT game. They really went all out, both gameplay and story-wise. Plus I like how this return mission explains why communication with Adam ceased and why he confronted you about the Metroids. Awesome, AWESOME game!
No. The Galactic Federation planned to destroy it since the facility was heavily damaged, but they gave Samus permission to return to the Bottle Ship before it detonates
This happens when you want an emotional moment with someone you lost, but then u gotta RUN to ur ship and shit, get out. Samus: *de-activates suit and hugs helmet* *sad music is on* Alarm: *BLARES* Samus: SHIT. NOT THIS AGAIN!
I'd go as far as to say this, the nightmare battle, blowing up the queen metroid from the inside, and "any ovjections, Adam?" were the bets parts of the game.
It's sad the two of the best parts of the game were plucked from an older game and shoehorned in there for no reason at all. (Metroid queen and Nightmare)
+Lunacy you could say the same for prime with Ridley. We never faced a 3D nightmare or Queen Metroid before and I was fucking terrified that the queen was there. Didn't expect It at all
Strongest Link It was cool that they brought them back, but that was just lazy on the developers' parts. You can't say the same for Prime. Sure, the Ridley fight was awesome, but there were also some more memorable moments throughout the series, like the battle against Metroid Prime, the fight against Rundas, and the GFS Valhalla among others. Prime didn't pluck anything out of older titles except Ridley, who is as much of a staple in the series as Samus is. However, most of the best moments in Other M come from them just taking an old boss and putting in in the game.
Lunacy from that perfected, I do see your point. Because when you think about it the bottle ship is a full 3D version of Metroid fusion's BSL Station. I enjoyed Other M, even for its faults, but I don't think it was lazy development, I'm thinking it was Team Ninja's way of showing fan service. When I mentioned prime I meant using Ridley in Prime and then twice Corruption. Reusing bosses, but they've been doing that since Super Metroid anyway
Strongest Link Yeah, Other M was enjoyable to play, but the story and lack of exploration/clunky controls made me dislike the game. It could be fan service, but if people really wanted to fight the bosses, they could do it in the games the bosses are from. I still disagree about Prime reusing things, seeing as Ridley is a staple in the series, and they barely took anything else. Really, name one reused boss/important character in Prime other than Samus or Ridley.
"Five minutes until detonation. Please evacuate the facility immediately". It's five minutes before detonation and the whole station started to explode like hell.... :l
I understand the need for this game to not have strong language, but since they had Samus talking so much this time when the alarm went off that would have been the perfect timing for a small curse lol
At this point,
a self destruction sequence might as well be part of her resume.
Skills: Killing space pirates and escaping places that are about to explode.
So like they should make another of her in other M with this exact alarm time and sound, and when you make it back in... YOU PLAY! I agree gameman5804
And thus the self destruct escape saga continued
So what do you know?
So I have been killing space pirates and escaping a self destructive facility
Space Pirate Mothership

Honestly, this is hilarious. Samus is over here cradling her fallen comrade's helmet, then out of nowhere, the self destruct sequence starts.
+101supertails Thats Metroid
Well it was scheduled to be blown up by the federation. Says so just before you return to the bottle ship
that is NOT her father.
101supertails it was said that it will be destroyed with a few hours so she had the permission to access the Bottle ship for personal reasons.
Samus expression with the music cut screams: "fucking really?"
The warning makes me laugh every time
I love how abrupt and sudden the alarm is.

Funny thing is. In the Metroid Manga I believe, it is mentioned that even Samus was considered a possible candidate as a Pirate leader.
But I like the Prime Pirates far more. There they have the High command and in Prime 3 they didn't followed Dark samus from the beginning. It practicly ripped the Pirates a new hole nd then picked up what was left of them :D
In Prime 1 and 2 where Mother Brain was dead the so called High command were the had led the Pirates and Meta Ridley in the Manga displayed as the first real leader of the Pirates was nothing more then another general or something like that.
So, it takes 30 seconds from Samus to get clear of the Bottle Ship's explosion range
What's the track name for the piano?
Alarm Blazing - Check
Metroid's Kick Ass Escape Music - Check
Time to run away!
0:05.00
samus: the exit!!!
game:*now loading*
*BOOM*
Wait a second....THAT'S RIDLEY'S THEME! Is he attack the facility?
No. The Galactic Federation planned to destroy it since the facility was heavily damaged, but they gave Samus permission to return to the Bottle Ship before it detonates
tenno when space mom leave us
Self destruct please escape
Adam: No, No I don’t think I will
EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE
Torgue makes things explode!!!
Epic Scout what from borderlands
Torgue would be very happy!
I miss this “You better run” moments.
We need s sequel, Nintendo!
Metroid Fusion is the sequel
@@VJ87G i mean, not story wise, but in terms of gameplay
Remember, it isnt a metroid game if there was a self destruct happening after fighting hard near the ending, with the exception being samus returns
Lol samus is like ...FFS! I can't have a moment here??!!
Samus : Really AT THIS MOMENT CAN'T YOU WAIT LIKE 5 SECONDS
The self destruct sequence was so abrupt. Couldn't they have worked that in a little more smoothly?
Wait. That s for real? Why she s like adult samus and not at all the same than previously?
This happens when you want an emotional moment with someone you lost, but then u gotta RUN to ur ship and shit, get out.
Samus: *de-activates suit and hugs helmet*
*sad music is on*
Alarm: *BLARES*
Samus: SHIT. NOT THIS AGAIN!
you can't hate it for at least trying
adam malkovich.
no prob dude. ur videos rock.
Am I the only one here who actually enjoyed this game?
Best alarm sound of all times
adam.
It was, but I also think that made the escape so much more exciting
"Five minutes until detonation. Please evacuate the facility immediately".
It's five minutes before detonation and the whole station started to explode like hell.... :l
Someone needs to do a mashup of John Madden and Jim Ross doing commentary on her escape run
hey, it's not the only one. there's also Metroid Zero Mission after u kill Mother Brain
1:20 OHHH SHIT, SELF DESTRUCT!!!
Why did the station set to explode?
@24HallOfFame90 Exactly. When the alarm went off, even just her saying, "Damn.", would've worked.
I understand the need for this game to not have strong language, but since they had Samus talking so much this time when the alarm went off that would have been the perfect timing for a small curse lol
@Anontalkwarrior
Ohh, its a DLC. Sorry.
