Wow. I was listening the original on repeat, 'cause I was in the mood, so my brain got curious about different styles... so naturally I went looking for covers. This is insane. Forgive me for the technical terminology from here on out, I'm not an expert or anything... I just sing under the shower or to let out emotions lol
At first I thought it was just "fine", but then you went a bit falsetto on the "escalate" from the chorus and I just got a chill running down my spine and was hooked. Then you harmonized subtly with yourself ("same vision repeats itself" is where it's most noticeable to me, but of course it's not just there), and then in the final chorus you stopped the falsetto and the "escalate" felt more painful and frustrated instead of poetic, which is perfect for the theme of this song. All these seemingly tiny details are what, to me, give something more to a song. As I said, I'm not an expert, I can only "feel" music. And I could definitely feel this.
Also, I think the piano is played by you as well and that's great too.
I don't think I've ever been this impressed by a cover ever. You somehow put your spin on it, while keeping its original soul intact. Which is literally the definition of a good cover, in my opinion. I'm speechless!
