As a player with some serious physical limitations due to spinal injury plus sciatic nerve damage this is so true you often think you aren't seeing results from a drill that your body cannot accomplish and the body being scared of reinjury is so relatable at times it literally just says NO.....you aren't doing that. Fantastic video really hit home

Wow. That is the most in-depth physical analysis I have seen. As someone who is getting older and transitioning my gym work into something longevity based and golf based so I can keep playing for a long time this is exactly what I'm interested in. Awesome stuff.

One of the most insightful videos for golf that I have seen in a long time. It is a shame I have no idea whether there is a similar facility in the UK. As an overweight, mid 50s (but reasonably fit) man with a history of knee injuries (school rugby is brutal) and wrist injuries I would love to get this sort of assessment

  • @johncreet1254

Great idea for a video. Most of us probably have injuries (sometimes long term) that affect our golf swings even if we've never previously thought about it. Can't wait to see follow-ups.

Great insight. I'm recoving from a knee op and my physio is spending a lot of time focusing of my foot position. Apparently my knee injury has been causing my foot to be twisted similar to yours. She reckons this has been massively impacting my swing.

Thanks for taking us behind the curtain again. Let's be honest, almost all of us have had breaks, stresses, injuries that we have no idea how well our body has bounced back from. As you mentioned, we may not be capable of certain movements. It would be beyond great to know how to improve, compensate, or realize not to try to force something. Thank you Matt.

I have regular therapy and exercise, 1/2 hour with the club pro and a new set up I have been able to finish 18 and am striking the ball better. Wow, golf is fun again!

Super interesting content that every golfer, athlete, etc. should consider! More importantly, this should even shape the way on how golf instructors teach. It no longer is "you should swing this way" - there's so much more to it and what our body can/cannot do to accomplish the golf swing, as you clearly showed in this awesome video, Matt !

Really interesting to look at the body first, but it makes total sense in retrospect. Seeing some of that in my non-scientific but targeted efforts to try to regain flexibility through a stronger core and protecting my shoulders by strengthening the different shoulder muscle groups. Could see the lower body stability area really needing work too for me personally (broken leg as well so made me pay attention). A place like that could really benefit someone who takes golf seriously. Could maybe explain the why’s for swing issues and maybe give some carrots for doing specific exercises in the expected outcome description. Very cool collective of resources there.

Seems to make my left leg straighten and cause low toe hits. Hope you can get yours sorted man

I put a circular saw 3/4 way through my right arm,and now can only play one handed. But last years British disabled open,i played with a lad who lost both his legs in Afghan, walked round and carried for all 18 holes. I left thinking i was a fraud for only playing one handed against him. If you think you,ve got an injury, just go watch some disabled sports sometime, you,ll soon discover your being a wuss, and theres actually very little wrong with you in reality.
