Thank you for sharing your trip and this lovely scenery. I’m curious to know whether you were in a 4x4 or a Bakkie. I know you mentioned at one point that a 4x4 was not necessary but would one be OK in, say, a VW Polo?
Hi Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I do have a 4x4, but you could for sure go all the way to Hole in The Wall in a sedan car like a Polo. The road between the N2 and Coffee Bay is quite potholed, so it would be necessary to take it slow and steady, but you need to do that in a 4x4 anyway. There are some other places that would be out of reach in the surrounding area without a high ground clearance vehicle though. For example Mdumbi River, which is very beautiful and quite remote, would probably not be accessible without a high ground clearance vehicle.
It's really a shame that people make such a beautiful corner so dirty. After seeing the film "Gat in die Muur" here in Germany, I really wanted to go there. Now,I don't know
It is a shame, but the Hole in The Wall isn’t the area that is dirty, that’s fine. It’s Coffee Bay itself that has a lot of rubbish around. You should go if you can, it’s very beautiful and so worth it.
Africa continuously begs for more tourist money. Then they make it impossible to travel, impossible to cross a border, illegal to take a photo of a post office, litters like there is no tomorrow, and destroys infrastructure like the once beautiful Fish River Sun. After visiting northern Natal, I will stay in the Western Cape.
We visited most of these places about 30 years ago..am glad we could see it then.

If I was a billionaire developer, I'd challenge cape Town as a beautiful coastal city
I hear you, who knows, it might happen one day 👍
