- On Wednesday, an inquiry into abuse in state care and faith-based organisations was released publicly and tabled at Parliament.
Luxon said its tabling marked a dark and sorrowful day in New Zealand's history.
"I cannot take away your pain, but I can tell you this: today you are heard and you are believed," Luxon said.

Mean while, the funding allocated to health is grossly inadequate, apparently the health sector has been instructed by the Government to make $110ml cuts. Surgeons and back office staff have been shared for years. New Plymouth has surgeons from Hamilton doing lists for years.

Thanks for sharing this. Good questions asked of both our Prime Minister and Dr Shane Reti. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to improve our healthcare system. I appreciate the efforts from the current government. Dr Reti in particular is the perfect person for the job. A GP who knows about the grass roots of our healthcare system. Luxon is doing his job by being the face everyone wants to sling mud at - but he keeps turning the other cheek, and supporting his cabinet ministers to get on with their jobs, ka pai.
I have first hand experience of Dr Shane's professionalism, whereby he wants to learn and know as much as he can about all facets of our healthcare - from the hospitals to the businesses that provide specialist services and equipment. The man is determined to improve our systems. Lets give them the time and support they need to do this.
