As stupid as people think Jon is, he adapts to his body changes and fights his age, Izzy and I seen it with Tony as well, camps out in the pocket just a split second too long, Roy Jones syndrome. can’t rely on your reflexes after 30 let alone 35. Jons chin is there when he needs it but he maintains distance and then some and takes no chances. I think Strickland got in his head with the twinkle toes thing, but these fickle fans really only remember if you win or lose. The people who clowned because he was winning in a safe way are now clowning cause he’s getting finished even if he’s fighting like a “man”😂 just win man! don’t be a fan pleaser. Gsp taught us that. Btw a lot of it was Imavov too. He’s good. I think the old guard is just on its way out.

Graceful retirement sounds nice, but the natural progression of the division relies on the better guys falling off to build up the next generation. It proves the quality of the new guys and confirms the end for the old guys. It is like the circle of life - just with punches…. Even the old guys know that they have to become the food as part of the process.

This might be off, but I feel like his ego is not letting him train as open minded as he should for the opponents he is facing. 1st round shows he still has what it takes, but it's almost like something inside him makes him throw out caution when he shouldn't. Or maybe he's always been like that and now these new opponents can see and capitalize on that.

Early stoppage. He was definitely caught and it was definitely possible it would still have been stopped, but Izzy was covering and starting to backup to buildup. Same as when a wrestler bellies down and then shuffles back to start working on standing. Finally someone saying it. It was absolutely way too early of a stoppage. Got rocked, fell against the cage, recovered on his knees and elbows, maybe 3 punches thrown after and MAYBE just one of those landed, which didn't even rock him again, and then the ref stopped it. Not just early, but a flat out horrible stoppage. They don't even give fighters time to recover anymore. But more than likely it's bigger than just a bad stoppage. Or a ref not doing a good job. UFC politics more than likely. Time to replace people, kind of thing.

Went from being one of the most dominant champ we have seen in a while to a shadow of himself. That being said ,they should give him a few easy fights before he retire cause he still looked great tonight.

Mad respect for Israel to do a post fight interview. It always feels bad to see all time greats get hurt consistently towards their end.

He cleaned out the old guard. And was in every middleweight title fight from beating kelvin gastellum to losing to sean Strickland with a 205 fight for good measure. His legacy is cemented.
