sounds great... i *think* i got a couple down so far loll... gotta come back to work on it. thanks for clear video/audio! bomba got me playing and learning music again. im thankful.
Thanks for watching! There are many other rhythms and variations besides these 5 but these are a solid start for sure. Bomba has become a new found love of mine over the last several years.
@@RomanPercussioncame back to work on it again today!!! I think I'm getting sicá and cuembé and switching between them. started messing with the rest but am not there yet. and yubá sounds magical
im a beginner and wish these were broken down a bit more. also, i hear clave and rattle going on, are you playing those with your feet or what is going on?
This video is just to show some of the core rhythms that are played in Bomba, there are many others including variations. But these are the most commonly played, so just a quick demonstration. The other patterns you’re hearing are representing the maraca pattern and cua patterns for each of those rhythms.
Just got back from San Juan, unfortunately, I didn't find any drumming or affairs for such was rather disheartening. I know it's there, but seemed as if it's a fading tradition. As a conguero, next to vacation business, that's prima what I went for. Is there a particular neighborhood or area I can go to in order to find, learn, and participate in Bomba?
Lots of Bomba in San Juan, Santurce, Loiza, Guayama, Mayaguez, etc. Most of the events I’ve seen have been promoted on Facebook and Instagram in different group pages. But there is plenty of Bomba on the island for sure.
Another good vid mate!! Nice one!! 👍 😁 Mark 🏴
