I was a FORD Master Mechanic and that brass fitting that was in the fuel outlet may be needed as the hole in the tank probably doesn't have a SEAT for the end of the line to hit. it may suck air a little and drive you nuts!! JUST UNDO THE FUEL LINE AND LOOK INTO THE WELDED ON FITTING TO SEE IF IT HAS A SEAT!

Throw some wheel bearing grease on your drill bits, this will keep alot of shavings out of your project and stuck in grease.

The original radiator would have had a transmission cooler. That old one was a replacement from a truck that had a manual transmission which is why they added the external cooler. If my memory serves me well fan shrouds in '65 were only used on trucks that had air conditioning. My 1964 doesn't even have holes for a fan shroud. That old shroud looked like it was from a late 1970's model.
Love seeing what you're doing to that old girl. They are great trucks as you already know and that one is a beauty.

Great job. You may want to invest in a new transmission cooler. The ones in the radiator do not keep a transmission cool enough in severely hot weather. My 88 Crown Victoria and 89 Grand Marquis both had auxillary coolers from the factory as part of the towing package. Both of my 79 Thunderbirds did too, as both were 302 cars with the C-4 auto. We added one to my 1990 Volvo on day 2. 30 years and 400,000 miles later, the Aisan overdrive automatic still works like new.

This is going nice. This has been my favorite project so far.
    A few questions:
Since you've made some upgrades to the engine, do you plan to eventually refresh the engine, if building it is not the final goal?
You replaced the shocks, but what about the rest of the suspension and the steering?
Last, but not least, what about the transmission? Isn't it leaking and not working properly? Or are you leaving that with the taller final drive to do that?

The new radiator is a good look, but as I understand it, they painted the OE's black for a reason. Black radiates heat better than a polished finish. With the new HD radiator you've got that covered. Not sure of the efficiency of the the integral transmission cooler vs. the external, but I used to sell trans-coolers and we always were told for every 10 degrees you reduced the trans fluid temp you doubled the life of the fluid. Auxillary trans cooler were inexpensive and easy to install.

The aluminum rad is a nice upgrade but I still would have a seperate trans cooler in front of the rad to make sure the trans is getting proper cooling, again said below in the comments, electric fans are a great upgrade to free up power and increase cooling however the electrical system has to be up to it, did so in my truck and ive gained fuel economy.

My dad had a 1960's pick up truck. I had forgotten they mounted the gas tank inside the truck. I remember the tank had rot issues and would stink up the truck. The cab mounts rotted off so my dad used wooden blocks behind the cab and the bed to support the cab. You could feel the cab shift when turning a corner. It was our trash hauler and recycled, that was all it was used for. It had a 3 speed transmission, an AM radio only and no trim. It was as basic as a truck as you could buy. Eventually the thing got so rusty it had to be scrapped.

I had never seen that color scheme on a truck until I saw yours. Made me wonder for a second if it was you! Then I saw the other side where there was paint fading and what might have been body damage or a poor repair. So, apparently there are at least 2 F100s left with that color scheme.
