    Since publishing this video it has become apparent that when replacing the motor cover after fitting the module it is too tight to re-fit. I can confirm at this point the models affected are Cube. Cube have stated that they have produced a new cover for the affected models and they will be available shortly. The item number for the new engine cover is #3819. For the Stereo Hybrid 160 in size S, the article number is #3706. Please can you place comments on any other manufactures that are suffering the same issues. Thanks TYBM

    Great informative video!
    I'm having a similar issue with the motor cover on the Victoria Tresalo 17 bike.
    After reaching out to the manufacturer they said don't have a suitable cover available and referred me to an universal Bosch cover (EB1120000Y). However this Bosch cover isn't a solution as there is an issue with one of the mounting points (frame partially covers the screw hole) and the visual aspect as the Bosch cover doesn't connects to the front/underside of the bike frame. According to the manufacturer for now there is only the Bosch motor cover or the option of relocating the Connect Module to another place on the bike. It seems I'll have to go for the relocation option. Too bad that bike manufacturers aren't able to foresee or resolve this kind of issues.

    For all those who have the problem of the engine cover, I'm trying a bit expensive solution, that is the 3d printing of the modified hood. I turned to a shop that deals with 3d prints and it is not an impossible thing for them to do.

    • @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
      @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic  2 года назад +1

      Hi William thanks for watching and your comments. Ive spent a lot of time on this issue and its complicated because, Bosch have done a great job of producing a unit that meets the demands of the market but bike manufactures have been busy designing bikes and motor covers based on motors with no connect module attached. this could be that the motor covers we designed/built well before the module or that there is old stock of bikes and newly manufactured bikes have new designed motor covers, if all that makes sense. All this is just my guesswork at the moment but it would appear that there could be a few new bikes! out there with smart motors but no mover cover space for them. maybe 3d printing is an option but It depends on the cost?

    There is not much information about the Bosch Connect Module, and I would like to figure it out. I would be grateful for your response. My question is:
    On the Bosch website, it was mentioned that the ConnectModule works with cellular communication. I didn't quite understand, if my bike is several kilometers away from me, will I not be able to see it on the map in my Flow app? Does this module require a SIM card?

    • @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
      @TheYorkshireBikeMechanic  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, thank you for watching and your question. the connect module has a sim card already integrated into the unit. under normal usage the unit will send its location/movement information via gps signals but as a backup it will also send gsm signals via the sim card to make sure that where ever your bike is it can always be triangulated into the flow app so you can see its location. there is no additional cost to you when it uses the gsm signals. but I believe that there may be a small subscription to pay after the first 12 months if you want to use it's full features.

    I wish I had this 4 days ago, my bike was just walked away with and after this I questioned why is there no GPS built right into these devices. If you don't build them in then they will just be removed like air tags or these other inside the bar ones. A $7000 bill just walked away. This is maybe a better solution as you don't have to pay for it unless you want it but its OEM and is hard to remove quickly. So if the bike is alarmed what does that mean? If someone touches it does an alarm go off. Is there some way to lock the motor so the peddles wont turn? Even a feature that would use the torque sensors to push the opposite way to stop them from peddling would be awesome!
    Some of these bikes stark at 10K so this is not an unrealistic solution and my insurance deductible is $1000 and I'm not guaranteed to get the full value for my bike back either! So well worth spending this money before hand

    • @baznant
      @baznant 2 года назад +1

      If someone touches the bike an alarm goes off and you receive an alert to your mobile phone. It doesn't lock the crank but it obviously won't power up so will be difficult to pedal. I purchased the Hiplok D1000 angle grinder proof lock so would have ample time to intervene with if the alarm was triggered. £250 isn't a cheap lock but you get complete peace of mind when combined with the connect module!

    the Bosch Connect module with a subscription of €40 per year should improve two important points:
    first of all a “theft insurance” subscription integrated into this subscription and on a technical level increasing the power of the alarm signal which is rather ridiculous

      It’s very affordable though tbf. First 12 months free and then £40 for the year (£20 per year for 2 years) is pretty reasonable for a great bit of kit that keeps you notified and tracks your bike. A lot cheaper than insurance for the year and you’ve got a higher chance of getting your bike back
