Thank you so much for this ever-so-helpful tutorial. I am a hobby cake decorator searching for ideas for a Victorian terrace dummy cake that my sister-in-law has requested. 💕

Great video! I've viewed it twice, because I wanted to come back and review one of the techniques. Thank you so much!

For the bricks another option is to have a screwdriver at the width of the brick height and press it into the pencil mark it should have the same effect as using the blade and bamboo stick(sorry can not spell the name for it)
For the egg carton stones I actually use a nail file to ruff up the cut edges to give them a natural look.
For the one with the sand, I would add PVA glue to the mix, this will extent the base white so your not wasting as much paint and it will give a better stronger hold on the sand to the wall. Rather than using a brush to,put it onto the surface try using a pallet knife it’s easier to clean with baby wipes.
Great idea building a cube with all the wall or floor surfaces as a reference key for any future build/model making.

I am building a Harrison because I loved the picture video of yours. This helped me so much when doing the outside finish. I did the tissue technique and it came out beautifully! I will also be using some of the other techniques in the near future! Thanks so much. Your videos have helped more than you can imagine!!!!

Looks like it might be clapboard, shiplap or board & batten pattern. I have used the tack strip many times and love it. One tip is to spray glued pieces with clear matte before painting (priming). That will keep it from rippling a little. I did one once without and when painted looked liked it was very old and weathered. Very cool.

I think that is called clap board. As to "correct scale" comment. I think one has some leeway in sizing things because bricks come in different sizes in life, as does clap board, or floor boards or what have you. For instance, I just heard pop sickle sticks are "not to scale." Well that would depend on what size the floor boards one is trying to reproduce. There are floor boards that are as much as 8 inches wide, for which one could use something as wide as the "tongue depressor" type sticks.

I wonder can I leave part of the paper on to have it look like the brick had plaster over it?

Loved the video, the model is a great idea it’s always there for future reference.
I realise scale is important to miniatures, as this was a demonstration of types of sidings to use being a bit of wont matter.

Very good video. Thanks for sharing. By the way strips method is called shiplap siding.

Okay here comes the noob! I finally got a doll house and I'm not sure if I'm unhappy with it because I can't find anybody who has it but I want to put brick on it so I would do little sections of Styrofoam and put them on there or do I pattern it out and then proceed? And would that be very thick looking? I guess I should have went back and listened to see what size thickness you used for the brick to me this is very confusing stuff probably because I'm new never done the dollhouse I acquired is called a little Molly and I don't think it's a true 1-in scale. All my furniture seems to be so big in it!

Okay, good questions. I actually went back and watched the brick portion of the video since I recorded this so long ago. The material I used for the panel was foamcore, or foamboard, same product the name varies depending on brand and area you are from. Specifically, in this project the stuff from Dollar Tree works and I don't know if the name brand stuff from the craft store or office store would work or not. This product is a layer of foam that is sandwiched between 2 layers of paper. The thickness is right around 1/4". If I was doing the walls of a dollhouse I would cut the panels to fit the walls then do the brick texture and at least paint the grout color before putting it in place on the dollhouse. Be sure you cut all the windows and any other openings out before you do the brick layout. Since you might need to do some adjusting to make everything fit correctly on the walls. it would be easiest to paint the brick color off the house also I think then do any touch ups after the panels are glued on. Be sure to fit everything and dry fit the panels as you go to make sure all the lines are lining up correctly.
I am not familiar with the dollhouse you mention. Have you watched my videos on scale? That might help you to determine better the scale. Also if you are on Facebook come on over and join my group over there. Then you can ask questions and it is easier for me to help you out. Feel free to private message me on the page over there or ask in public comments, Everyone is friendly and helpful.

That is not the right scale for standard bricks.

real bricks are slightly larger (8" x 3 5/8") but when used on an entire wall can look too big . I always go a bit smaller because I like the look better. It is also a lot easier to measure out this size so less mistakes. The size I used translates to 6" by 3" just a hair more petite.
