Thanks for a fun video. I really appreciate hearing the sweet singing of the little nitro engine rather than some bad guitar riffs that are often used.
Awesome run and epic location. I love how you just ran it and without wasting time talking about the good or bad of the Revo. I can see just by watching it perform that it's a great truck. 🏁👍
I have a 3.3 and was thinking about swapping to this motor. After watching this definitely not going to swap. My 3.3 is totally faster than this lol. Idk if this isn't tuned right or what. But my 3.3 screams compared to this.
@@scottl5910 That is definitely better than trx 3.3 own one. I have two trx3.3 First one is impossible to tune. The midrange is very rich. Second engine is much better, but not ideal and as clean running as OS 11k.
I don't know actually. never tested the speed. I use 15t clutch bell so one tooth more than original. Maybe 16t would work also. I'm a bit afraid of that original clutch life. It does wear of quite fast. Maybe I set it "wrong way around" to get more grip and put 16t to get a bit more top speed -> bigger jumps. Also I do use taller tires, so they add more to the top speed.
It depends the car you are planning on putting it in. There are two versions of the 21tm. Tmaxx and revo has their own. If you have bought the "wrong" version, then you need the 5 ball link for the tmaxx or the "stick" for revo. Also you need the correct exhaust manifold. Traxxas alternative ones works ok, but those original screw installed ones are not going to fit properly.
Yeah, i know it’s a bit late. I usually like it to shift later than sooner. Too soon and it just slip from the clutch or the engine load increases too much so it stagnates. I use wide gear ratio, so it is more unforgiving for early shifts. And the engine loves it 😉
As overall. It's very good. The car is very nice in stock form except the throttle servo (too slow and weak) and the TRX3.3 carburetor. When you swap those out it will be the best nitro monster truck you can get currently. With the OS engine(or the carb only) it is just a pleasure to drive. One adjustment and all day driving. The TRX3.3 has a bad carburetor and I really miss the middle needle in it. It is way too rich in the middle and there is no way to adjust it. I'm running 25% Nitrolux and Sidewinder fuels. (with
@@TheGhostman132 Excellent! I have a Merv (E-Revo 1/16th VXL TSM) which I set up for high speed pavement action. Was looking for something making a bit more sound and with some better offroading potential! I am from Switzerland, I'm scared the sound of the nitro will attract unwanted attention, ever had any issues of the sort? I've only heard good things about the OS .21 TM, I also believe it's a lot better to simply swap the 3.3 engine out entirely for the OS, instead of just using an OS 11k carb on the 3.3. Where did you buy the fuel may I ask, since we are both in Europe?
@@nvl2691 The revo with the original dual chamber pipe is the quietest .21 car I have heard. Also I live in Finland so the least dense population of europe benifits this hobby ;) I have bought my fuel from finnish hobby shops(euroRC and Hobbyfactory). I believe none of the hobby shops don't ship their fuels and also this year you need to get the license to buy anything over 12% nitro. I got my license from police.

Nice bash, good tune, great spot !!!
I got a 15yr old revo 2.5 with the O.S. 18tm engine. What a beast! Puts any trx 3.3 to shame!

Awesome driving! That nitro sounds like it’s tuned perfect also
O.S engines are easy to tune 👍
@@TheGhostman132 I got the OS 11k carb for my TMaxx 3.3. I’m new to nitro and had some struggles with tuning. Hopefully the OS carb is easier!

Excellent bashing video!
You’re a good driver/nitro guy! Thanks
Proper bash sesh👌
what percent fuel/oil are you using???
Nitrolux 25%. I think it has 8% of oil in it.
Hell Yes!!!
Any top speed numbers with that beast?
Haven't check that. But I have one or two tooth bigger clutch than stock one.
Some great driving there buddy… what’s the top speed of the .21?

@@TheGhostman132 whatever speed it’s doin it looks like it zooming along nicely… mine is stock and it’s only hit 37mph with a fairly lean tune
Nice I gotta get me one
I just ordered the o.s. 21tm, can you tell me if it needs the no. 5 ball Link

It's going on a 3.3 revo and I bought it with the revo manifold
@@SLC_nitro then you are ready to go 👍
Thanks man 👍can't wait
Definitely correct didn't need the ball link they said. I'm over a qt into the break in. Did yours run hot? I'm running stupid rich...
nice truck i love mine... but you should fix that shift point... shifts WAAAaay to late.. hard on the motor

That’s badass
Is your engine broken now? But if it's still good, it means it's very durable.
Why would it be broken? It’s in good health. Only 4 gallons through.
@@TheGhostman132 I'm going to try to switch to os sometimes because the 3.3 engine never used more than 1 gallon.
Where did you get those paddles?
Robbis hobby shop. Those are genuine Traxxas paddles you can get everywhere.
I want to get one of these. How have they been treating you so far? Never had a nitro before.

Watch every SocalNitro video. That’s me. My son drove. I stuck my head at every jump and said aim for me. Shot on a Sony Cybershot camera.
What are your temps amigo?
No idea. I usually don't check temps except in break-in phase or in cold weather when using some kind of cooling head cover.
Do it burn a lot of fuel
About 1/2L / h on my driving.
This engine is not tuned right. No power.
Maybe. But close enough for me. I also use a bigger clutch for more speed.
Have the same truck and motor combo. That motor has about twice as much power. Either way great motor compared to what comes with the truck.
