its a good car if you want performance and not terrible MPG i have an M550i 2018… that 4.4 V8 is amazing but 12L per 100 km is too much, might get one of these
I own one. In comfort mode it drives smoothly and is incredibly refined. Only issue in that regard are the large tires that create some road noise. In sports Plus mode it comes to life and is exciting.

Hi Thomas...I placed my order in September 2016 and I took delivery of my E43 yesterday! I appreciate the in depth reviews of the E Class which truly helped me with which options to choose. Premium 3, Premium sound, Pano roof, Insulation package, 20" wheels with Pirelli rubber just to name a few. You were right about the options adding up fast! The MSRP was 89k USD but I don't mind as it's the best E Class I have ever owned (2007, 2009, 2012, 2014). Thank you and keep up the awesome work!!!
I just picked up my E43 last week. I got the wood trim (great decision). The car is AMAZING. I just have the regular Burmester and it sounds fantastic. Is it an E63? No. Does it sound like an E63? No. To get that sound you just have to pay 30k more (which I'll probably do in 3 years). I'm gonna pick up an AMG GT next year, so that'll be my full AMG. I really just wanted an E class with a proper engine, which this is. The interior is gorgeous, and the massage seats actually work really well. Everyone I know is jealous and people stare and stare often. I couldn't be happier with this car.
little confusing with the suspension: So the information on location was Dynamic Ride Control, but price lists suggests that you have the AMG suspension which is based on the Air Body Control (air susp.). Not sure if the cars on location were equipped differently or if the info was wrong. One thing is for sure though, that no matter which suspension you pick with the e-class, they are all extremely good.
Just picked up a 2018 E43 AMG sedan. I have to say Thomas, you played a huge part in me choosing this car. Your review is as always: professional, deep, fun, and objective. Like you mentioned, at first glance, the rear lights give the impression of being a turnoff, especially compared to the rest of the exterior... However I have come to love them, especially at night when that stardust effect makes the car look super kick-ass.
This E43 not only beats (fr)Audi and BMW. It beats Jaguars all the way! The interior materials and total quality are so much better and classier! Better than an XJ, faster than an XF and even the F-type 400. Smoother driving with lesser rattles and with a 10 times higher reliability than a Jag. After 10 years of "trying" to believe in a Jaguar Leaper, I must admit: "The Best or Nothing" is not only commercial statement...Love this car and very proud to have one! Wow! Thomas you have the best job in the world. :D I like the balance between extra comfort on the standard car, and full sporty witch E63 will probably be. Also the discrete details, like stitching, spoilers. Very, very nice upgrade. Sound is very good but i would like more of that AMG tone. To search faults would be just nitpicking. This car is simply in one word perfect.
@@videoMYcar Quite bad except for when I cruise in the freeway. I get around 13 to 13 mpg on side roads and 27 mpg on freeway cruises. To be fair part of that is because I drive in sport mode with manual paddle shifting. I definitely get a lot less mpg than my previous car, a BMW 430i.
@@JonnyBeoulvei drive an ML63 right now and really need to downsize… the 63 engines are no joke, but i also get 13-14, and i always use the paddles… and i have a 5.5 L v8, you have a V6 yet same fuel economy?

At least in my region the E43 will be the same price as the S6, think I'd rather have the S6. Although that interior and tech is very nice on the E-Class.

Great review. Always enjoy your videos. Have you had a chance to review the new 5 series? The lease on my 2015 c class is nearing the end and this e43 along with the new 5 series are at the top of my list. Specifically the 540i and the m550i. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on that comparison. Also which you think would make a better vehicle to own for the long run as an everyday car. Excellent. Thank you very much. Just watched it in it's entirety. It's going to be a tough choice but i think it's going to come down to the e43, 540i or M550. We don't have the diesel here in the US yet. And of course have to see what the new a6 will have to offer. They're all good cars. One question. I hear a lot of comments about the exhausts being fake on the e for example. In your opinion does that really matter? Again, great work Thomas. Keep it up.

Hey Thomas, thanks for your great reviews. Please continue to also stress the difficult topics (protect the environment, protect animals). I especially like your reviews about small or mini cars. I am driving a Peugeot 208 92 ehdi. My average fuel consumption is about 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers. About 20 % above the figure from Peugeot. I drive 20000 kilometers a year. 30 % in the city, 80 % motor way, 10 % German Autobahn. There I go not more than 130 kilometers per hour. I am 1.86 meters tall like you. What car would you recommend me? The VW up! tsi, the Peugeot 208 110 hp or the Citroen C3 with the same engine? Could you maybe do some tests, in which you compare cars like the above mentioned? Awesome review Thomas, as usual! Quick question, are the seats much less comfortable than the standard E class? I mean if you were to drive on a long journey, say 800km, would you be comfortable on the E43 seats or much less than the standard e class. Assuming both have the same suspension modes and driving type set to comfort of course. Im after a sporty but comfortable care. I remember the E63 seats were not very comfortable at all for long journeys.
Tomas , is air suspention of e43 is good? is it comfortable enough? as i am driving c63S and my family complaining that it is too stiff. so thinking to change for e43... but the good thing is in th UK it comes with air suspension only.... so hope it will be more cofortable ... i guess u really liked this car, does it feel havy with that engine? thank you
Great review. You sometimes still have a few "Germanisms" in your English, but that makes it more likeable :-) As for the car, I think Mercedes is the brand to beat right now. A few years ago, I would not have considered a Mercedes, because they seemed very boring with bland design and quite overpriced. But they seem to have turned that around and now all their cars look very attractive (exterior and interior design), sadly they are still a bit too expensive for me if you go for all the interesting options (was looking at an A class, went for a fully loaded Golf GTI instead). But then, it's a premium brand.
Very nice review, and yes i agree that the taillights are a bit underdimensioned for this fantastic car. I have another question for you: What happens with the automatic drive functions for cars configured for Central Europe when their owners take these cars for a spin to the UK? Is it possible for the driver to make adjustments in the configuration setup?
Autonamous driving assist like keeping the lane (in the UK left side), keeping the speed limit (miles rather than Km), lane changing when overtaking etc. There might be other functions which i have not thought off.

VW up is mini car segment, 208 is small car segment, that would rather be vs VW Polo. Still I have the better seating the position in the VW up than in the Polo surprisingly
I just got my E43 and in sport+ I do not hear any crackles or pops from my exhaust. I had a GLE450 and that seems to be a ton louder with a lot more crackles and pops. It only has 40 miles on do you think that it just needs to be broken in a little bit?
Glad to hear as I was thinking the same thing. I only have 50 miles on mine and taking it easy on the E43 for the first 1K...after that it's Sport+ and Snap Crackle Pop!!!
I feel like they tried to muffle the sound compared to like the C43 (Much higher pitch exhaust note, more crackles and pops, and much louder) so that it sounds more like a rumble. I think like they tried to make it sound like a V8 but muffled the sound way to much. My car now has 2,000 miles and it still is not loud in sport plus.
Thomas, Could you help me decide. Should I get the E43 now or wait for the M550i xdrive. They will be priced similarly but the BMW has a v8 with 60hp more and half a sec quicker. How do they compare with available technology. Is the merc worth it in comparison. What would you do?

This seems like the perfect all-around car. Plenty of room, power, 4-matic, sporty styling, a bit of a sleeper, and tons of tech. Bravo Mercedes

Nice review and car, but I prefer the exterior of the older E class, at least the rear.

At least in my region the E43 will be the same price as the S6, think I'd rather have the S6. Although that interior and tech is very nice on the E-Class.

1. There are productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable part of the body.
2. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals
3. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed?
4. To the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/

Great review. Always enjoy your videos. Have you had a chance to review the new 5 series? The lease on my 2015 c class is nearing the end and this e43 along with the new 5 series are at the top of my list. Specifically the 540i and the m550i. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on that comparison. Also which you think would make a better vehicle to own for the long run as an everyday car. Excellent. Thank you very much. Just watched it in it's entirety. It's going to be a tough choice but i think it's going to come down to the e43, 540i or M550. We don't have the diesel here in the US yet. And of course have to see what the new a6 will have to offer. They're all good cars. One question. I hear a lot of comments about the exhausts being fake on the e for example. In your opinion does that really matter? Again, great work Thomas. Keep it up.

thanks for your great reviews. Please continue to also stress the difficult topics (protect the environment, protect animals). I especially like your reviews about small or mini cars. I am driving a Peugeot 208 92 ehdi. My average fuel consumption is about 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers. About 20 % above the figure from Peugeot.
I drive 20000 kilometers a year. 30 % in the city, 80 % motor way, 10 % German Autobahn. There I go not more than 130 kilometers per hour. I am 1.86 meters tall like you.
What car would you recommend me? The VW up! tsi, the Peugeot 208 110 hp or the Citroen C3 with the same engine?
Could you maybe do some tests, in which you compare cars like the above mentioned?

Awesome review Thomas, as usual! Quick question, are the seats much less comfortable than the standard E class? I mean if you were to drive on a long journey, say 800km, would you be comfortable on the E43 seats or much less than the standard e class. Assuming both have the same suspension modes and driving type set to comfort of course. Im after a sporty but comfortable care. I remember the E63 seats were not very comfortable at all for long journeys.

Tomas , is air suspention of e43 is good? is it comfortable enough? as i am driving c63S and my family complaining that it is too stiff. so thinking to change for e43... but the good thing is in th UK it comes with air suspension only.... so hope it will be more cofortable ... i guess u really liked this car, does it feel havy with that engine? thank you

Great review. You sometimes still have a few "Germanisms" in your English, but that makes it more likeable :-) As for the car, I think Mercedes is the brand to beat right now. A few years ago, I would not have considered a Mercedes, because they seemed very boring with bland design and quite overpriced. But they seem to have turned that around and now all their cars look very attractive (exterior and interior design), sadly they are still a bit too expensive for me if you go for all the interesting options (was looking at an A class, went for a fully loaded Golf GTI instead). But then, it's a premium brand.

Very nice review, and yes i agree that the taillights are a bit underdimensioned for this fantastic car. I have another question for you: What happens with the automatic drive functions for cars configured for Central Europe when their owners take these cars for a spin to the UK? Is it possible for the driver to make adjustments in the configuration setup?

Autonamous driving assist like keeping the lane (in the UK left side), keeping the speed limit (miles rather than Km), lane changing when overtaking etc. There might be other functions which i have not thought off.

Amazing review as always. I have a question about the suspension. Your review suggests that the E43 suspension is different to the standard E series Air Suspension. However, looking at the UK brochure, it implies that the same air suspension is used in for example the 350d and the E43. Is the UK market different? Also, are the E43 seats firmer than the other E series seats? Thanks.
Yes indeed, a little confusing with the suspension. So the information on location was Dynamic Ride Control, but price lists suggests that you have the AMG suspension which is based on the Air Body Control (air susp.). Not sure if the cars on location were equipped differently or if the info was wrong. One thing is for sure though, that no matter which suspension you pick with the e-class, they are all extremely good. The seats are sportier yes but still very comfortable, no comfort lost.

VW up is mini car segment, 208 is small car segment, that would rather be vs VW Polo. Still I have the better seating the position in the VW up than in the Polo surprisingly
I just got my E43 and in sport+ I do not hear any crackles or pops from my exhaust. I had a GLE450 and that seems to be a ton louder with a lot more crackles and pops. It only has 40 miles on do you think that it just needs to be broken in a little bit?
Hm as I said in the driving part, the sound is not THAT loud. Did you put in Sport Plus mode?

Glad to hear as I was thinking the same thing. I only have 50 miles on mine and taking it easy on the E43 for the first 1K...after that it's Sport+ and Snap Crackle Pop!!!
Eric Love but unfortunately it is way too quiet. Mercedes really messed it up amd im quite disappointed
I feel like they tried to muffle the sound compared to like the C43 (Much higher pitch exhaust note, more crackles and pops, and much louder) so that it sounds more like a rumble. I think like they tried to make it sound like a V8 but muffled the sound way to much. My car now has 2,000 miles and it still is not loud in sport plus.

Could you help me decide. Should I get the E43 now or wait for the M550i xdrive. They will be priced similarly but the BMW has a v8 with 60hp more and half a sec quicker. How do they compare with available technology. Is the merc worth it in comparison. What would you do?
