  • In daylight our big blue marble is all land, oceans and clouds. But the night - is electric.
    This view of Earth at night is a cloud-free view from space as acquired by the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership Satellite (Suomi NPP). A joint program by NASA and NOAA, Suomi NPP captured this nighttime image by the satellite's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). The day-night band on VIIRS detects light in a range of wavelengths from green to near infrared and uses filtering techniques to observe signals such as city lights, gas flares, and wildfires. This new image is a composite of data acquired over nine days in April and thirteen days in October 2012. It took 312 satellite orbits and 2.5 terabytes of data to get a clear shot of every parcel of land surface.
    This video uses the Earth at night view created by NASA's Earth Observatory with data processed by NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center and combined with a version of the Earth Observatory's Blue Marble: Next Generation.

    I appreciate when NASA narrates the films and offers context. I was especially amazed at the brightness of the boat lights on the Nile and the relatively unlit vast American west.

Its time people start letting them know we aint buying that crap, and we are smarter than the average sheep they count us as. Its crazy, all the lies this ties into, gps, the internet, NASA, trillion dollar budgets for replica space crafts, its a huge web of deceit. Its hard to believe that a government would do such a thing, but the proof is in the pudding baby. Cant deny facts when your using common sense

    Live feed during night can reveal very confidential info. This is why its very rare to see real non touched image/videos of earth during night.
    During the day, sunlight cancels most of light sources , but during the night and aside from seeing lightnings, wildfires, volcanos ,etc... you can see occasionally :
    -Government/military (facilities, vehicles, aircrafts) emmiting light thus revealing their position and status.
    -Explosions, (Artillery/Missile/Bomb) impacts, artillery firing, etc...
    -Missiles/rockets emit bright visible light do to fuel combustion thus revealing launching location and even flight path.
    ==========================================================================
    In this case any gathered visual data must be revised and treated before getting released to public.
    The average people can't pickup anything useful from such visual data because they are not trained nor have the right equipement to do so; compared to experts who can pickup the finest details thus collecting priceless intel.

    The space shuttle used to leave their shuttle bay cameras on while the crew slept, so if you were watching NASA TV you could watch both a sunrises and a sunset every 90 minutes. In the dark you could see city lights as well as lightning storms that spread for hundreds of miles. Check out the still photos they took at night. You'll probably recognize the streets in your neighborhood, especially if you live in a mid-size to large town,

    2012년 되니까 별 차이가 없네ㄷㄷ 오히려 한국이 더 밝은듯.
    그리고 한국 보면 옛날엔 서울 주변 몇몇,부산 이렇게만 밝았었던거 같은데 10년사이에 경기도 남부,충청도,전라도 엄청 발전했네ㄷㄷ 한국이랑 중국 상하이 쪽이 아시아 전체에서 야간 밝기 1,2등 다투는듯

      Trolls or liars? u have to decide... there are also people who are not either of those but have an honest opinion about a subject at hand... with anonymity is easier to express yourself without fear of judgement from society... both sides are so busy to disprove each other that is seems like a competition of brains and egos resulting in both sides in conflicting subject gets more convinced of their own standing and probably neither side is totally right.
