I was fronting a band that was a back up act to Tall Stories. It was quite a thrill to see Steve in the audience checking out our band; giving me a thumbs up as I sang. I love Steve's voice - one of the finest!!
When I went to see my first Journey concert, I was so very disappointed that Steve Perry wasn't performing(didn't know until I got there, saw a sign posted stating that he wouldn't be appearing that evening..) SO, saw the concert with Steve Augeri appearing with the band for the first time, as we all know, Steve Perry is irreplacacble and he is THE VOICE, no doubt, but I enjoyed Steve's voice for who he is and I think he is a very talented musician and a class act. I have become a fan of his!!
I had the pleasure to watch Journey and Steve Augeri when they performed with Foreinger at Blockbuster Pavillion in Glen Helen, Ca. near San Bernadino, Ca. don't remember the year, but I'm going to say in the early 2000's. More then 50,000 were on hand and Journey kicked some major -ss! Steve Augeri, you were incredible! I was very immpressed! Best of luck!
Really really really what a sad loss!!! Im sure Augeri and Neal had some fall outs for whatever reasons. The rumor is was that he couldnt continue on with the tour...i can imagine being up on stage every other night on tour and sing those high notes ..your vocal chord shots up..maybe so...but i love this guys voice..ARRIVAL IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Only one time album with Augeri thats why it's an Underrated album!!!! God Bless you Steve!!!! Keep rockin brother!!!!🎶🎤 ..

I agree with the comments about what Neal and Co. did to Steve A., The great Steve Perry himself could not go out and sing his classic stuff every other night... sorry, but age does catch up to us all... so for any singer to do this night after night it will take it's toll. Steve Augeri is a fantastic frontman! When I first saw him perform with Journey, I said "wait that's not Steve Perry......who is this guy?!.......he's better than Steve Perry!" I was immediately taken by his smooth and professionally elite singing/ performing style! I look at Journey now with Arnel, and he just seems like a stand/ fill in to me, where as Steve Augeri seemed to take the band to a "Higher Place!"

It always kills me watching these groupies do interviews. They have no business doing stuff like this but they want access to musicians so they set up a channel and do interviews with every band that comes to town that is desperate for some type of exposure (sorry Steve) and the whole thing just comes off fake and stupid.
No, he isn't. He's had no music training and he only got some vocal training after he joined Journey and they told him to get a vocal coach because he's never had any training and he needs it. He still does as he's gotten worse. He probably doesn't get anymore coaching since he doesn't have much more time with Journey. I think his contract ends at the end of 2017. No, Arnel didn't replace Steve Perry, he replaced Jeff Soto, whom replaced Steve Augeri, whom replaced Steve Perry when Steve Perry couldn't tour because of his hip problem. Steve Perry just never wanted to return for a variety of reasons. Plus, he had already created all of the major hits at the time and he had nothing more to write about and he was burned out. And all of their hits Perry helped create is what current Journey is relying on at concerts. So, Journey now is more of a Tribute band with a cover band singer.

@@TheMichaelirizarry He wasn't booted out. Augeri was horribly overworked by the band and wasn't given enough time to rest in between shows, and it caught up with him and damaged his voice. He's not the same singer he once was because of relentless touring with Journey. Unfortunately the vocal problems that Augeri suffered from due to being so overworked caused him to be unable to continue performing with the band.
