So since they’re in Sydney (New south wales) footy or football would usually refer to rugby league, if it were based in Melbourne (Victoria) football or footy would refer to AFL (Aussie rules football) we *obviously* don’t follow American football here, but we do call the other football “soccer”.
So in Australia 🇦🇺, there is a population of Australians who are part of the eshay youth as we know Cash and Chook being part of that population. Almost like the “bad boys” of Australia but also a youth identifying subculture. The same terminology applies to NZ youth as well who partake in “eshay” activities. In the UK they say Chavs. These terms refer to a delinquent teen or someone usually engaged in criminal or suspicious behavior. Eshays also dress a certain way (Cash is spot on). They wear a lot of polo shirts, track suits, nautica, tommy hfg, nike, etc. For source quotation “An 'Eshay' is another term for an Australian lad, the equivalent of a British chav. 'Eshays' are almost always from a poor background, have little or no secondary education and rely on centrelink payments or theft to support their habits of illicit drug use, graffiti and purchasing "fresh gear.” Eshays are generally feared by the public and are notorious for bashing innocent people for their valuables, staring people down and hanging in packs. “Eshay” evolved from the pig Latin term for sesh when they were notable for a smoke seshes with each other as eshay adlays (sesh lads) “as form of greeting and respect. “Adlay is the noun. Eshay is the interjection.” Because Eshays are part of an Australian sub-culture that also comes with language slang as they frequently use Pig Latin phrases. I heard even other younger ppl in Australia as well use PL too. But in the show we hear them say common Pig Latin terms used by modern day eshays. Some of these terms are noted as “adlay (lad), "illchay" (chill), "eetswa" (sweet), eetswa bra (sweet brother) etc. Pig Latin is an English slang in Australia but changed up from time to time using unofficial pig Latin rules. I also learned that the word "eshay" derives from the Pig Latin word for “yes” and or "sesh", and sesh meaning some type of smoke session.
The Gym teacher Tim Voss, is played by actor Angus Sampson. He's been in the Insidious movies, The Lincoln Lawyer tv show & a couple episodes of TWD season 9 & Our Flag means Death as King George. But I mainly know him as Oly's dad, Dom Chalmers in Bump. ❤
I don't think Cash wanted to participate either. But I have to point out, SA isn't really about sex. Yes that's part of it obviously, but it's really about asserting dominance and control. 3:06
idk if anyone said it yet but the language the guys were speaking in the prison is most likely pig latin, it’s what eshays sometimes speak in australia as a kind of code. correct me if i’m wrong
Hii, loved your reaction as always. You should check out "my lady jane". It's a great series and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one.
You may have seen Mr Voss in the latest mad max movie..it has lots of Australians in it.. as I think it was made in Australia 🇦🇺 Also they are playing the best game on earth Australian football league (AFL)
