Well, the very first time I watched this video, I definitely understood what Geoff was singing about, because I was very familiar with this song. That said, I saw it as an early access video as a patron of Geoff's and we had no idea what the song was going to be until about 15 seconds before he hit the play button for the video. And as much as I loved the arrangement and video from the first time I saw it, I think the more I watch it, the more I love it.
If you don't think you heard this particular song, but it seems weirdly familiar, it may be possible that you've heard "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown", Jim Croce's follow up to this hit. It has a similar story (famous bad guy ends up meeting his match), complete with another insanely catchy chorus filled with some distinctive verbal descriptions with some pop culture references thrown in and leads up to a fight where the original baddie ends up with a number of injuries (after the fight, Leroy is described looking 'like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone'.) Geoff has said that as of right now, he has no intention of doing that song, but who knows? He has been known to change his mind, LOL.

I swear, Geoff just did this video so that all of the reactors who've never heard the song before can make me feel really old!
Geoff's storytelling is on full display in this video, as many/most of Jim Croce's songs were really stories set to music. I'm almost a little surprised that Geoff hasn't done one of Jim's song earlier in his solo career.

This is such a bop. Funky moves. Love it. The song was originally done by Jim Croce who also did Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, which is perhaps more well known.

It is not surprising you may not know this Jim Croce passed away in 1973 and unless you are a older music nerd you probably won't know him but may know some of his songs like "Bad Leroy Brown" "Operator" " Time in a Bottle" and as a Jim Croce fan I approve this version.

This song was originally written and sung by Jim Croce (crow chee) in 1972 along with many other great hits. Including Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Time In A Bottle and I've Got A Name.

This was released in 1972, Croce died in 73. The original was boppy as well, Geoff actually made it a little more sombre.
    Great reaction, as always!

Such a nice appreciation for the work and effort that must have been necessary behind the scenes. Few people mention that part and it's part of the enjoyment.
I agree about the arrangement being spot on and nothing is out of place.

This one is as if the guys from “16 Tons” went to the Dark Side. Jim Croce’s original was actually a bit boppier and bouncy with the acoustic guitar more forward. By making the Stomps and Claps so much more predominant this changed to more of a ‘groove’ which feels more like the Snaps in ‘16 Tons’

Jim Croce is from my high school days and was a great folksinger. In 1973 he died in a plane crash when the pilot suffered a heart attack. Geoff did a bang-up job on this one. Love to hear Geoff do Croce's Time in a Bottle or Operator. Other fun ones are Big Bad Leroy Brown, Working in the Car Wash.

his plane went down less than an hour away from where I live. Needless to say, we were shocked, It was a really sad day. He was headed to perform at the college in Natchitoches, LA.

I love Jim Croce's songs, but Geoff did this one Justice!! I think he needs to do Bad Bad Leroy Brow next. Great reaction! And yes, I watched the video about 4 times before I actually heard the music. I got distracted by a well-muscled Geoff and his clones...lmao

I actually found it easier to listen to that song than to many other where he is wearing different outfits. For especially when the costumes are very alaborate, I am distracted from the music by the details. Here, 5 time the same (albeit amazingly becoming) outfit - no problem. 😂
I didn't know the song, either, despite my age. I actually don't know a lot of those songs that were or are predominantly popular in the US. Found it very funny and also loved Geoff's take on the matter and his arrangement. I think it suits Geoof's voice perfectly.

This, of course, is a Jim Croce song. Was it about himself? Maybe. I think that POSSIBLY the song that you were getting reminded of might be Jimmy Dean's "Big John," which Geoff has also sung.
I noticed that I didn't have CC turned on, but that the words to the song were being flashed up, which is nice, BUT...there's a wrong word in right near the end. If you supplied the lyrics, you need to change the last line of the song the last two times it comes up, because it SHOULD be, "...and you don't mess around with Jim..." just like all of the other times. Instead, it says, "...and you don't mess around with Slim..." What happens, is that one of the background rhythm sounds Geoff makes right at that point, is a "ssssssshhh" sound, and it makes it sound like "Jim" has turned to "Slim," but it really hasn't. 😀
Loved your reaction, and always love Geoff's voice. Thank you very much!
