Hello, the best method I have seen so far.
congratulations.
Thank you very much!👍
I use the same method and it’s really easy and effective. Thank you!
It does work great, I learned from a guy from Florida. He does this every year but he waits until he has bred all his YB team before he starts
Super nice! I have to make me a tunnel ✋️ fast! 😅
Your start of this year with YB was like my start in 2011 😬
Man those 6 just recently sent are doing great!!!!
With great weather I have been able to push them a little. You sent good birds 👍
Best training for sure. Thanks 4 sharing! Cheers !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the tips I will try this training method 👍
Let me know if I can help or if you have any questions!
A follow up. I've been using this system since my comment on the video a month ago. I've since trained two kits of squeakers using this method. Not only did they take to it fast, but the most important thing of all: no settling losses! By stark contrast, I lost HALF of my 2022 racers as squeakers due to BOPs scattering them before they knew where the trap was.
Thanks for sharing! Glad it is working out for you!
@@littleloftonthehillIt's been a life saver. I also duplicated your landing board, even though I had to guess the dimensions.
Nice work. You definitely have a nice method of training the birds
Thanks Angel! Your birds are doing great 👍
Genius....this method has so many advantages even if u do not have a hawk problem....Great job buddy and thanks for sharing....👍👍
Thanks 👍 Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh, I see now that the tunnel is not a full cylindrical; the side edges of it attach to the plank, so almost a semicircle.
nice method of training birds I just wait till the birds have babies then I let them out of the loft an hour before sun set for about two weeks
Thanks for sharing
Great training ❤❤❤
Thanks
Love it. Can’t wait to see how you do when the races start. I know you’re in a tough combine but expect you will do very well. Great job Thomas
Thanks Lee! All the best!
Awesome method. My experiences have been similar to yours with a resident Cooper causing high losses during settling. I lost HALF of my 2022 birds in exactly the same scenario you describe.
They can be brutal
@Little loft on the hill They definitely can. I started racing after 45 years with Rollers. I always intended to race as my grandfather raced, but I always put it off "for later". In addition to finally biting the bullet before I became too old, my roller losses to BOPs were a big part of the decision. I figured Racers would stand a better chance of out running them. I still have Rollers of course, but as an example of my losses, I have only five 2022 rollers left as of this writing. And I bred 135+ last year and stocked or gave away less than 20. Over 90% were lost to BOPs.
@@kerbyjackson88 that is rough
Nice video Tom. Creeping up on 1000 subs. 👏👏

Very nice video. Great information and great job. Keep up the great work
Thanks Jack!
Awesome! A great settling method. Birds seems to learn very fast as we have seen.
Yes they do 👍 They are smart birds. Thanks for your support!
Awesome. Great training tips.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Very good I used a step lader and it works too
Thanks.
Great idea
Awesome method. But wait, who’s the young guy in the thumbnail? A nephew?😉
🤣😂
Totally awesome, step by step and logical.
Thanks! It works!
Where did you get your basket. The one in the beginning of the video. Thank you for the great information.
The two wooden baskets are home made by a friend years ago. I am just borrowing them. I like the end slide pull out release door better than my aluminum baskets
That was smart I'll be sure to apply that method in my loft
Thanks, it is a little slow but for what the birds gain I think worth a little extra time.
Nice!
Thanks! ❤️
Patience is the key, good job 🎉
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your mathod. Willike to try it next yb season.
Good luck! Thanks for watching
meanwhile, there's a raptor circling far away on the upper left, at 4:04. Isn't it?
Funny! Most likely a turkey vulture, west of me is flat I am right at the base of the foothills they like the wind current as hot air leaves the valley. Tons of retails and turkey vultures but they have never really been an issue. The problem bird for me is the Coopers hawk.
Thank you for this! What is the net/wire part of the tunnel made of? Where did you acquire it? Wanted to build a similar structure.
It is actually old fencing, I think 2”x4” openings. Anything will work, good luck!
Great way to train very good.
Thanks!
Genius
Thanks for watching!
Great idea
Glad you think so!
Ok Awesome 👏
Thanks!
Hi Tom! What do you recommend the length and width of the ramp to be? Thanks!
Hi Jon, The tunnel is 13” wide the ramp is 16”, length of both 7’6”. All made from scrap. The dimensions are not that important. My table is 3x8. I think it is helpful to be able to set the table in one spot and not have to move it between steps one and two. So the same length ramp and tunnel. Let me know if I can help!
The longer the better I would think
I am struggling to build the tunnel. How did you get the wire tunnel straight enough to keep the plank at its base?
See the video tomorrow
I’ve never baby my youngsters like that. Pushing through the trap twice let them be make sure they’re hungry.
Awesome! you do what works, this works for me 👍
It sucks that in Germany you can't set traps for eagles and hawks and such. You can get a fuckin gianormous fine and can be also sent to jail🤦 in Romania we used to trap them little fuckers and drive them some hundred kilometres away from the capture place. That usually in like 80-90% of the time solved our issue. Of course,we would being in contact with the other flyers so that we didn't just set them free in their area. But here in Germany it's really a pain in the ass😒 I've had pigeons here for like 4 years now but I'm really starting to think about quitting, ain't no fun to be had with dozens of these fuckers circling my loft every day and week..
They are brutal
Definitely gonna build a tunnel tomorrow appreciate the information videos like this really make a difference for newbie like me 🤞🏼🙏🏼🏆🧬🪽🪽
Good luck!👍
