  • Wonderful 21" Zildjian Avedis Transition Stamp Ride at a weight of 2440 grams. It is the type III stamp and has a curved edge, which gives it a slightly more complex tone, shorter decay and nice low pitched sustain and crash. Feels and plays lighter than the weight would suggest.

I love this sound! The vintage Avedis (Pre-A Series) actually sound better than most of the modern Zildjian K's. I two vintage 14" Avedis hi hat cymbals from the same era but they are not mates. I matched them according to their sound which is soft and dark, and they sound like they were made for each other.
For more volume and a stronger "chick", I also have a vintage 14" K Light top that I use with the same Avedis bottom. Another match made in heaven.
Both tops are slightly heavier than the bottom which has a shallow bell and wide lathing. The 3 hi hat cymbals make 2 wonderful sounding pairs which could be called siblings instead of twins. They will never be for sale.
I'm 75 years old and I've been playing for over 60 years, still learning about the wonders of the history and sounds of the vintage cymbals of all brands. Keep these videos coming!
