DRIFT DRUMS - 20" Paiste 2002 Black Label (1976) Ride 2190gr
Really nice 20" Paiste 2002 Black Label Ride from 1976. It comes in at a weight of 2190 grams, which makes it great ride with a low pitch, but nice bright (typical 2002) bright stick definition. But it also allows you to crash it without becoming explode.

DRIFT DRUMS - 18" Zildjian EAK Crash Ride 1485gr
Просмотров 200День назад
Great 18" Zildjian "EAK" (Early American K) from the mid 1980s in excellent condition! It's one of those cymbals that's ACTUALLY a roper crash ride. Clear stick definition and bell sound when played as a ride, but also a dynamic and full body crash. For the recording I used regular Vic Firth 5A sticks. - SOLD - www.driftdrums.com info@driftdrums.com

20" Paiste Sound Creation Dark Ride from 1979 in excellent condition. These Dark Rides are really something special and, like the old K. Zildjians, they all sound slightly different. Some are a bit harsh or gongy, but this one is actually pretty versatile in use, without loosing its typical dark ride character! - Available - www.driftdrums.com info@driftdrums.com
DRIFT DRUMS - 14" Zildjian Avedis Trans Stamp Paper Thin Hihat 690/835gr

Very light weight 14" Zildjian Avedis Transition Stamp hihat from the 1940s. The top has a weight of 690 grams and the bottom is 835 grams. The pair is as buttery and vanilla as they can get. Very responsive and warm sound with a nice balance of dark tones and bright Avedis Trans stamp characteristics. Definitely one of my personal favorite Zildjian hihats at the moment!

21" Zildjian Avedis Heavy Sizzle Ride. It has a weight of 2675 grams and is drilled for 8 rivets, of which 2 are installed for this demo. Due to it's heavier weight, it has a very bright stick definition and a long sustain, which gives the cymbal (with the rivets installed) and endless amount of rainforest sizzling. What can't be seen in the video, it that there's made some cluster hammering ma...

Paiste launched the Stambul 65 line in 1965 and run this line until approximately 1974. The cymbal has the same bronze alloy as they used for the 2002 series (CuSn8), so basically they stopped with this series by the time they started selling the famous 2002 series. These cymbals were never sold in the U.S. and still are really under valued cymbals, as they are overshadowed by their successors,...

Very good condition 20" Paiste 2002 Black Label Ride from 1978 a a weight of 2160 grams. It has build up a nice amount of patina over the past 47 years giving the cymbal a nice low pitch, good bright crash and that typical 2002 stick definition. This particular cymbal has a slightly smaller bell than the models from previous years. This makes the cymbal a little less loud than the ones with big...

This 22" Zildjian Avedis from the 1950s took quite some alterations (crack fixes), turning it into this "Frankenstein" of a cymbal. Doesn't look like much, but I really dig the sound. It's quite trashy and has a very low pitch for an Avedis. Due to the alterations, the rebound of the cymbal is a little less than you'd expect from a 50s Ride, so not an easy cymbal for up tempo swing stuff, but a...

I have a matched pair of 14" Avedis paper thin hi hats from the 60's that I bought new in the same weight range. The top one has a tall bell and fine lathing which makes it very bright, but soft. The bottom one weighs just a few grams LESS than the top one, has a shallow bell and wider lathing which makes it very dark and soft. This pair sounds bright but still has a very nice "chick". I also have a slightly newer Avedis top from the 70's with wide lathing and tall bell and weighs just a few grams more than the other top and sounds much darker, almost like an old Kerope from Istanbul. I use this dark top with the dark bottom to get a perfect pairing of dark, soft and buttery sounding cymbals. This pair sounds dark with a very nice "chick". I bought all 3 cymbals new and I have the sound of 2 different pairs of hi hats. There is something very magical about the sound of the OLD Avedis Zildjian's. The newer the Zildjian's, both A's and K's, the less I like them. I'm a jazz drummer who plays small to medium venues and I love to hear the definition of my sticks and brushes on all my cymbals.

I've only owned one set of Paiste cymbals and I hated them. They came with the Sonor drum set I purchased and sold them immediately, replacing them with my vintage "K" Zildjians. I've been trying to like Paiste cymbals over the last few decades and I've come to believe that Paiste is like Zildjian in that, the more vintage the cymbal is, the better it sounds. This ride sounds like an old "A" Zildjian which is not bad, just a tad too bright for my style of jazz. Still, I am still looking for a Paiste which "scratches my itch".

The matched pair has a slightly lighter weight bottom with wide lathing and a shallower bell than the top which has fine lathing and a taller bell.. This was before the American Zildjian's started declining in sound quality for jazz, just to make the rock players happy.

I love this sound! The vintage Avedis (Pre-A Series) actually sound better than most of the modern Zildjian K's. I two vintage 14" Avedis hi hat cymbals from the same era but they are not mates. I matched them according to their sound which is soft and dark, and they sound like they were made for each other. For more volume and a stronger "chick", I also have a vintage 14" K Light top that I use with the same Avedis bottom. Another match made in heaven. Both tops are slightly heavier than the bottom which has a shallow bell and wide lathing. The 3 hi hat cymbals make 2 wonderful sounding pairs which could be called siblings instead of twins. They will never be for sale. I'm 75 years old and I've been playing for over 60 years, still learning about the wonders of the history and sounds of the vintage cymbals of all brands.
