- Maybe it's more of a guy thing, but for many kids, young and old, cars and car culture hold a special fascination. Tthat often includes the hot rod shops and old service stations associated with cars. Tennessee Crossroads met a craftsman in Portland, TN who never got over his obsession with recreating that car world in miniature proportions. Join us Nashville Public Television to find out more about Andy's Dioramas.
The salvage yard might be the coolest diorama I've ever seen
wow he is a true artist!!
Thank you for bringing this art into the public awareness. Well done!
Art. That's the correct word. Well said
Michele, Thank you for taking the time to view my work, I have several diorama's under Andrew Roderick on You Tube if you would like to see more.
Wow great details thumbs up
Doug, Thanks and thumbs up to you also.
Cool love it
I love to see these live! Like a little kid in a candy shop!!!
Coach, You can, there are about 19 of my diorama's in a museum called Days Gone By in Portland, TN which is also my home town.
@@andrewroderick1244 1st like on your reaction is 1 year after you posted it. Andrew didn't seem even to have read your reaction. ;) Great work, I was thinking the same, make a museum out of it. And collect the money to found the start of an evening art-school for young - and older guys to make diorama's - maquets and you as a half time teacher to help them how to make rust real and such, would be great. Always would be exciting to ask to make a End-Year project - Like : make a 60's diorama
Love it
Mate, I got a diorama, but this is next level
Westley, I get that same feeling when I see some of the masters that build diorama's. Their work blows me away.
Your work is so amazing, Mr. Andy! I'm a Tennessee girl myself, born and raised, living in New England now. This video makes me a little homesick, really. I admire all the time, detail and creativity you put into each one of your dioramas. Thank you so much for sharing your passion w/us. God bless you & family!😇
P.S. You have a new subscriber now and I look forward to seeing your other stuff.

Hi, Andy! I wonder if you will remember me. This is Evelyn Phillips, your "little sister" from West Virginia. We had a class together at Marshall U. back in the '80s and we became good friends. I have wondered over the years sometimes how you've been doing. Today I had a "wild hair" and did a little online search to see if anything would come up. I am amazed at the fascinating, unique career you have had and the creative niche you have carved out for yourself. You seem to be happy and thriving, and I'm glad about that. It would be nice to communicate with you again, even if only briefly. I don't know if you check the comments on this site/video page, but I hope you do. I'd like to know how best to communicate with you, if you are open to that. Regardless, I wish you (and your family) all the best, and I wish you continued joy in your endeavors. 😊
Love the work...and even more so, the space he has to display everything....
Grizwold, Thanks for your comment.

@@andrewroderick1244 when they said Portland I thought Oregon! Nice that is so much closer for me!!! Awesome!
O.K. perhaps some people wouldn't be that into it, but I would pay an admission fee to have a chance to look at all those a bit more closely and leisurely. How cool! Nice work. How much fun he must be having.
Nicolas, Come to Portland, TN, and go to Days Gone By and they will let you pay an admission fee to come in and see more of my work.
Amazing the first time I seen dioramas was at Magic Mountain there was a building full of them I was 8 years old I was amazed of what I saw.
Snoop, I did the same thing in Chicago at the school of art.

HOLEECOWTHATSAMAZING !!!!!
Very hard to pick a favorite, but I’d LOVE to have a copy of the abandoned service station. And the drag strip....oh my !!!
🏆🏆🏆 🤜🤛 🏆🏆🏆
Mak, I sold both of those, and I could re-create them, but space and money are the issues at hand. You would need lots of both and time also.

Alfred, I am very glad you like the details.
Model make is fun . I built a variety of military up to 1995 ,1/48,and 1/32-1/35, and 1/24-1/25 scale kits
Paul, I built cars when I was a kid, I guess this is a carry over from that.
Really cool. I do the same thing in 1/25 scale,,,there’s something about scratchbuilding that’s really rewarding.
Nice!!
Elias, Thanks
Man pretty cool as I build in 1/25 and 1 /24 scale
Jay, There are a lot more cars available in your scale than mine. Many I wish they would make in 1/18. Oh well.
