Gotta love Rabs Warren going nuts in the commentary box. Absolute legendary commentator commentating on a legendary race from Madame Butterfly
How good is he was just talking about this the other day then typed it in so good
@@leighbrannigan319same haha legend
Rabs just turns this up a notch to get me cheering 22 years later
So proud of her. So brilliant, but humble. A beautiful person, and great role model.
Legendary commentating!!
I remember, aged 11 or 12, watching this LIVE AT THE TIME! At school the next day I even asked one of my teachers "Did you see that magic moment at the swimming last night?" (She said yes.) Long live Madame Butterfly!
Ray Warren going hell for leather. Goose-bumps stuff!
This is unforgettable just for Nicole and Ray going bonkers when she touches... and I'd say they would've given each other an EPIC high-five when that happened!
Amazing swim by Petrie too. Smashed her PB by 2 seconds. She was a beast of a swimmer. She and susie pushed each other into the stratosphere. Both were mental giants.
the aussie swimming announcers are crazy:P pure fans :D
And they use first names.
Ray Warren!
Ray Warren normally commentates Rugby League and is equally as entertaining doing it.
This gets me to this day. I was a young swimmer and seeing her quest to get this record, coming up short so many times and finally doing it was such an inspiration.
I remember watching this. What a total bitch of an event the 200 fly is. And to be chasing a world record that is nearly 20 years old. That last 15 metres is more pain than you can imagine. Susie - don't ever forget Australia loves you.
What a brutal event. This and the 400 medley. Nuthin' but pain!
A yr after this happened my swimming coach wrote down the "warmup" at training. 2000m I.M. everyone there said you've gotta be kidding
Fantastic swim Susie! She is my idol in butterfly now. I am a swimmer myself! 💜💜💜💜🏊🏆
The good old days of swimming on ch9
First time watching this record literally got chills
Still a damn fast time today. She won 200 free at the games and was 2nd in 200 Fly to Misty Hyman. Swam at a ton of the same meets as Misty. Susie was the giant killer showing Mary T's time was beatable
RayWarren the best swimming commentator
He is AWFUL. He knows nothing about swimming it’s all just yelling and empty hot air. Bruce Mceveny and Dennis Committee are light years ahead.
Love how her only opponent in the final leg is „the line“ trying to catch up.
Will miss RayWarren commentating the swimming at the Olympics
She is amazing
And now she’s one of the most well known people in all of Queensland
She’s madam butterfly but she got the gold medal in Sydney2000 in freestyle
Is this Ray Warren the nrl guy commentating?
Yes.
At the end she’s pretty much racing the line.
Suzie Rock's
mary t will always be m. butterfly. y´all now realize how effin good she was?!!
rab's
Madame Butterfly of course, who else could have done it?No one but her!
One wonders if she hadn't won the 200m freestyle what the result would have been
Took only 19 years to beat the most impressive record in swimming history.
Lockyear charge down no knock on fittlers gonna score how good is rabs we deserve origin 100
Yee
Scott Volkers ... hmmmmmmmm.
Queen of 200m
And then she lost the Olympics...
And what have you achieved, dickhead?
Was that a good moment?
@@F50Aircraft Well it wasn't for her nor for Australia, which thought that was in the bag... But Misty Hyman came out of (almost) nowhere to snatch gold and that was well deserved because she was on fire that night !
@@ifalloveragain great moment
Australian swim commentators are obsessed with Australian swimmers getting world records. I don't care about records: I simply want them to win.
This was a legendary world record - arguably the greatest ever - and Susie had been chasing it and closing in on it for year. It was the story of this particular swim.
RAy Warren is insufferable
He over-calls everything.
Moron.
