I just checked the line waits this Sunday at 1pm and Rise was 20 minutes. NEVER in my life have I witnessed that....I hear summer weekends overall are becoming that way. Is this the new norm? I'm glad I'm visiting on a weekend soon!
I think May 8th is sold out for the single day tickets bc I just bought my grandparents tickets & that Wednesday is the cheapest day the whole month for whatever reason. I'm glad to see weekends aren't super packed tho so my grandma won't have as much trouble navigating through the crowds w her ECV.
What if Disney after the last all night event and realized they could be sued for those who had tickets and could not go stop the event because that type of lawsuit would cost more than AP on the reservation lawsuit and did the math on cost of lawyers and lawsuit with it being low cost to have reservations at to have control of park capacity so yes CC land down lower reservations… Lowest cost of 2 lawsuits they knew they would have.
We were there Saturday. It's the opening weekend of Pixar Fest, and my theory on the crowd weirdness is that people made reservations for both parks in the morning, then many moved to DCA for the afternoon festivities and Pixar parade. That's what we did, and there seemed to be a LOT of folks doing the same thing, and DCA was packed. That would leave DL emptier in the afternoon than you would expect based on a full reservation system.
The reservation system has conditioned my family to come less. So much so, that we are not renewing our passes in August. Most of my friends are on the same boat. I’m thinking this is why the Magic Keys are still for sale.
Word of mouth getting out that there’s too many closures and construction 🚧 around the park, so people holding off a little bit until one of the rides or two reopens which second week of May will have all rides back up except HM & Tiana’s
Rides are closed, restaurants are closed (those food booths at DCA don't open until May 10th), stores are closed, those late night Star Wars and Grad NIght events kick people out of the parks early, and they are still charging the ridiculously high tier 5 prices on most days. Of course people aren't going to come.
Also, good luck explaining the complexities of capitalism to a five year old, when you have to drag them kicking and screaming out of the park before 8pm, while they see all of these other people not having to leave.
All because Disney wasn't happy with the almost $300 tickets they sold that day with Genie+ and Park Hopper added, so they decided to kick everybody out so they could charge brand new people almost $300 for only a few hours at the parks.
If you ever want to know how busy a park is try to book a genie plus and see if the return times are quick or 4 or more hours from now. If genie plus LL is booking up quick the park is busy.
DAVID I became a magic key holder this year and let me tell you I was there Sunday too, arrived at 1pm and unfortunately it was the worst experience ever😩the park was sooooo crowded, people were being RUDE!!! And it was very overwhelming. Even my kids said "let's not come on a Sunday again" I went multiple times in April and I will never ever go back in April again. Feels like it's holiday time, it's beyond full! And it ruins the moment with things rude people can do. I was very upset on Sunday
I went to the parks on Sunday and the crowds at DCA were insane. I think the majority were there chasing down those Pixar popcorn buckets that are now on eBay for $80 each.
I do hope they are limitied access so that with the high ticket prices, you can go to Disneyland and ride every ride. Fewer crowds are my kind of visit.
David I totally agree with your statement about how the land is the attraction. I totally agree with that what, and I love that they put an animatronic inside a gift shop. That is awesome. But that doesn't change the fact that there is just simply not enough to do in Galaxy's Edge. Galaxy's Edge needs at least two more rides and a sit-down restaurant
When we were there a couple weeks ago we noticed that it got a lot more busy in the evening. Maybe a large amount of locals don’t show up until 5pm or later.
I think it's because like people said everything is under construction. The people with passes are probably not going as much until fantasmic. Even then how bad would congestion be during fantasmic with criter county down and the line for pirates
It wasn't sold out for regular ticket holders. Twice on a Friday I was able to get a reservation for the next day with a regular ticket. I think they figured they already have your AP money no need to let you in the park on days thought to be high demand. To me I can visit now on the weekend with low crowds just have to pay a bit more. Locals are being crowd controlled via the AP program. I drop in from Northern California. So an AP I probably won't get max use from it. Especially when the days I am there are weekends.
I'm not a church goer and I'm not in CA. Sunday morning is light traffic where I live since many are in church here while others are sleeping in. This is when I get my groceries and errands done. Anaheim had some Megachurches so maybe locals are there or sleeping in. Travelers will be back when kids' sumner vacations start.
Dave, getting on rides is a great idea! You should've gone on Peter Pan. Well, what about Pirates? at 46:00, you hadn't gotten to Pirates. That means you're having fun, that's what you're doing!
I will be going during ride closures and that bums me out. However comma I will take this as an opportunity to really take in the ambiance, taste new food, and finally enjoy the Tikki Room!
I was in Disneyland with my niece on Sunday and while it was beautifully calm and lowkey all morning and into the early part of the afternoon, it was VERY crowded by early evening. Part of that was the thousands of kids from the DECA weekend and the Girl Scout event, but there were also loads of families and small groups. You could barely move around amidst the swarms of people and it didn't really start to slow down until just after 11pm. Indy also went down a little after 4, right as we were about to board, and stayed down until 9pm. That being said, we walked over to Indy when we saw it come back up and walked off the ride just as the fireworks started. We headed to Galaxy's Edge in time for the fireworks finale and went to Rise right after and waited only 15 mins. Anyway, I think a lot of the times when the park seems weirdly empty but is sold out, it's because so many people have reservations but don't come until the evening.
You hath discovered the the cause of the dilemma! I remember hearing someone warning about those two groups pummeling the park in the evening hours as they were in meetings and productions all day! That is exactly why it was sold out!
I think the reason no reservations being open was because there was a student convention happening. We were at Disneyland that day and it’s was a very light crowd in the morning till early afternoon, however later on the day notice it became more crowded and the majority were students. I guess they weren’t able to go to the parks until later that day.
Huge Disney parks fan and huge Star Wars fan here. I was completely underwhelmed when I visited second week of April. I couldn't see anything to make me think it was season of the force. And there were no nighttime events the week I was there either
The Park hopper option ties up slots in both parks, one guest is counted as two, so those with keys count as two. Disney is not leaving open spots as much as they know rides are down and going down all day, and they need to increase capacity...a third gate, more rides and event options that move the crowds. Over crowding causes bad media and press. A happy spot means less of a stifling mass of guests. They increased the prices, they can afford smaller crowds, but not bad press and media.
I went on April 30. The morning was light, but then it beefed up after 12. Rise of the Resistance and Hyperspace Mountain had big wait times as always, but I got on a LOT of rides that day, including Mickey's Train, which usually has a long wait. I dunno. Overall the day was "hot and cold" as far as some rides being long as always, and others being Run On, like the Falcon Run.
David, I think it is slow for a few reasons. People are waiting for Fantasmic! reopening, finals and end of school testing, waiting for major ride openings and reopenings, and the prices. Thanks for your updates.
We will be at the Disneyland resort this weekend.. celebrating “Season of the Force” on Saturday May the 4th ☺️ and going to celebrate Pixar Fest as well on Sunday. The good thing is the celebrations for both are going on for a long time so gives people a chance to go when they can. I’m hoping our weekend will be this light lol. Thanks for sharing fresh baked!
When In went to Disneyland in 1980 you had to pay per ride, and it was getting too expensive. Then, they went to pay once at the gate, and more people went to Disney. Now they went back to pay to play for “popular rides”, with ability of passing the line rides with their pass, on top of inflation, no one has money or time for that. I have thought of going to Disney in this year. With the reservation analysis, they are going to a scarcity model.
This shows their reservation system is utterly broken. I tried to go this last Sunday but there were no same day reservations available for any magic key holder. 😐 I figured it would be busy for Pixarfest but I guess not. The reservation system is the worst thing to happen to Disneyland in a long time
it's broken because the park is not even close to full yet you can't go in. be that as a magic key holder or with a single day ticket. If the park is not full, you should be able to get a reservation, no?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to cap a daily operations budget by putting a limit on attendance. They probably don’t even see a drop in revenue that day due to less waits and people doing more shopping rather than waiting in line. I’d be interested in the frequency in which something like this happens. It could be definitely attributed to a messed up system… but as a dude who works in data, there’s always a story behind weird moves like this corporately.
I went to Disneyland last Thursday for my Senior trip. It was busy. I wish we went to DL this week instead of last week. We barely went on any extreme rides due to huge lines.
I came to Disneyland in February and being that I’m not local it’s a lot more expensive for me to visit . I was really bummed at how insanely busy it was. Very disappointing when you save your vacation days and pay to travel there and hotel and the crowds are that bad. Not to say the locals don’t deserve to be there just as much as anyone else but when you are coming from out of state it is appreciated when they can limit the crowds a little bit. 😊
Me too! I don't know what I was thinking, but I booked Memorial Day weekend. The last three times we've gone we've coincidentally booked during major events in the park. I've never seen it not standing room only.
Too expensive. The last trip I took cost so much more than it ever has in the past, and was way less magical. Spent lots of time on my phone, and felt like a constant customer. I have always understood that the park costs money, but pre-pandemic I usually felt like a guest in the park, not just a customer getting squeezed for money every moment.
I’m waiting to go until splash and haunted mansion open and I would never pay $194 per ticket as a family of 5 to go on the weekend. I travel from out of state once or twice a year so I have to be pretty selective.
Literally one part of the park is under construction and town hall is under scrim for updates. You'd all be whining if they didn't do this stuff but when they do it's "wahhh wahhh wahhh everything's closed"
@@slowazzd2165Classic response by disney fans to when people state a reasonable opinion being critical of the company. The only whining I’m seeing is coming from you pal
I'm the visitor that lives close enough to go two or 3 time a year but not close enough to make a magic key work and I just can't justify going this year. Last time I went was on September 2023 and I feel so sad to see the park with such a huge area behind walls. Five months in the year and I miss igoing so bad but I will not pay to see construction walls. I think Disney made a mistake to take on the Haunted Mansion project when they had another giant projection already underway. Tianas and Haunted Mansion are too close to each other to have them both out.
I think it makes sense to prioritize those who will go maybe once in a lifetime over those who live nearby and can rearrange their schedules to go at other times.
With the $50 child tickets and similar-to Socal-resident offer prices for the adults, this is such a clear sign that Disney recognizes and foresees drops in crowds this summer. The tickets are for weekdays starting june 10, but I imagine this may increase crowd levels in certain days to severe levels. Hopefully not. We are traveling overseas just to get my daughter to see Mickey. She is autistic and is obsessed with him. I saw these videos to carefully choose our dates, so just hoping and praying now
I feel the same way. We’ve dropped thousands ($10k plus) for our first visit in 7 years (kids first time) and now our week is the final week in Sept of the deal so it’s going to be insane like it was the last time they had $50 kids tickets
I recently got my very first Disney key back in March and had to go with enchant. Since the CA resident one was sold out at the time I purchased. And I noticed for enchant June is entirely blocked out. 😢 So, I’m going 4 times in May. Since I guess I will be chilling at the beach next month instead😅
I saw you at Disney today . You were in toontown I was in toontown . I hope to see you again sometime. I’m going to California adventure tomorrow with a friend of mine . I’m posting my video of the Pixar fest fireworks.
Great video! Sometimes I wonder if we've gotten so use to the post Covid crazy crowds that it feels weird to just have a normal pre shut down crowd at the park. Also, price changes didn't help the situation. Just an opinion. LOL
No need to be befuddled about Season of the Force. Disney has dropped the ball since acquiring the Star Wars license. And let's just be honest ... Very few folks want to plunk down $159 for a four-hour Star Wars Nite that offers very little in the way of exclusive or worthwhile content.
The upcharges are riduculous. I loved Disney because I could budget a trip there. Now I have to pay to enter the park, THEN PAY AGAIN for a service to help me que for a ride, THEN PAY AGAIN to have a CHANCE to get on a ride. That's insane. Addtionally, the dining plan used to be a real money and stress saver. You buy it - then book your reservations for fine dining - and the dining was EPIC. Now the good resturants take 2 reservations. So I end up paying more for crappier food. The transportation to and from the airport - gone. The free drinks on the park with the dining plan - GONE. If Disney wants their customers back they need to listen to Disney - "Always give them more than what they expect - never less".
No one wants to go with all that construction and ride closures. That's why they're offering discounted tickets in the summer; which is unheard of, but they're getting desperate to get people in the park. Locals will go but tourists won't and they're the more favorable guests. So they're making up the number of guests by offering discounted tickets to locals.
Disneyland and it's sister parks have priced themselves out of the market. Disneyland also stopped doing a lot of the things they used to do - deep cleaning at night being one of them. Rides were rarely down because they got repaired at night as well. There were no 'seasonal themes' (like the Haunted Mansion becoming Nightmare Before Christmas - seriously WHY?). Those of us who knew Disneyland way back in 60's and 70's knew a better, cleaner, far more fun park than those only know it today.
Last I counted about 20% of the rides are down, but park prices have increased. Consumers doing what consumers do best, voting with their money.
According to Wikipedia, Disneyland has 49 rides. What are the 10 rides that you say are down, based on your last count?

I remember the same exact thing last year. We were there this week last year and Sunday, Mother's Day, was EMPTY. I rode everything all day and night with no waits. It was amazing. I seem to recall this was the tone in your videos last year as well!
11:25 Adventure LAND!! Great scenic vibes!
Proud to have been one of the dozen or more “FreshBAKED” shout out to you this beautiful day! Thank you for bringing the park to us and us to the park! Until next time, freshbaked & stuff!!!
Hear here! Well spoken, er, typed!
awww your conversations with Steven, the cast member driving the little fire engine, were so interesting and he seemed so sweet!
I see the load station for the Bantha Ride. That they never built. 😊 34:34
You know what i miss..i miss the casual disney wind videos. I love the vlogs but they just all seem to be concentrated on crowd levels and construction updates, which are cool dont get me wrong but i miss the old style videos..and it would be awesome to bring back the birthday shoutouts! Lol anyways awesome job fresh baked! Hope to run into you in the parks someday!
Those are mostly on the second Channel. He's made lots of them recently and they are very nice! "Fresh Baked - Tours Departing Daily!"
@@michaelsullivan3581 that channel from what i can see are mainly walkthroughs and POV type videos..i was referring to the older style or original style videos fresh baked used to film. When he would say he didnt have any plans for todays video he was just going to let the disney winds guide him
I feel that it’s slower just because most schools have finals during this time 😂 I imagine it will be super busy mid May
I completely agree there will be people there in a minute. That’s why you’re confused lol
Of course… it happens every single year. But it makes for consistent fodder for a RUclips channel.
Were coming on the 15th😂 hoping crowds are still lower!!!
I’ll be there in four days I think we’re hitting Venice Beach the next day or so I can’t wait
Heading to the parks on the 21st! Hoping for low crowds that day 🤞🏻
David - I rope-dropped DL the same day you recorded this and the morning was very light though I had jumped over to DCA by the time you were recording. The crowds must have come with me over to DCA because it was quite busy. I had assumed Pixar-Fest was pulling the crowds. I agree that having HM, Splash and now CC closed it is limiting day guests. It would prevent me from coming currently if I wasn’t a local pass holder. Thanks for your reports!
There were a lot of key holders who said they would not renew. Maybe Disney sold those renewals as newly available keys?
The ticket prices range from $119.00 to 194.00 on some weekends. Not many will want to pay that much when you can go in the autumn months for $104.00
I just checked the line waits this Sunday at 1pm and Rise was 20 minutes.
Do you think May 8th will be packed because it’s the cheapest day the whole month???? That’s the day I’m going 😂
I'm going May 8 to avoid the early Star Wars close on the 7th
They put a bunch of Idle transports Online from Maintenance and cycled the line through quickly? Ask A Cm when it happens. 17:37
"Do you hear the buzz" "FRESH BAKED!" Lol. The timing on that.
Sounds like you have a handle on this situation. You only visit on days when there are small polite crowds in the parks. Easy peasy. Enjoy!!
I went on Saturday and it was so crowded as well! I hope to catch a slow time like he does!
Appreciate your transparency. Toad is perfect.
Hi from Oregon but originally San Diego. Our younger days went there a lot. Can no longer go😢
When we were there a couple weeks ago we noticed that it got a lot more busy in the evening. Maybe a large amount of locals don’t show up until 5pm or later.
They did that with Tiki Room but they never went to the Restaurant plans next step. 32:32
Post spring break - pre summer
Glad to see this is happening again this year.
I think it's because like people said everything is under construction. The people with passes are probably not going as much until fantasmic. Even then how bad would congestion be during fantasmic with criter county down and the line for pirates
Edging ever closer... Yes, I admit I am paying attention. Always here... have been. Fresh Baked!
I miss the Capt EO theater.
I growup with disney but i have no desire to go anymore at all.
Steven driving the fire engine is awesome. A dream job I would love to have when I retire.
I was there Sunday and it was really slow. Loved seeing David in the park ( I was the one in the duck shirt 🐤 1:05:15
Looks like a great day. Seemed lively enough without being too chaotic. A nice balance, if you will.
Too much construction going on and it’s too darn expensive!
I loved your ride in the firetruck with Steven❤ You guys seemed to have so much fun. I hope to one day ride with Steven ❤
The reservation system is the worst thing to happen to Disneyland in a long time
So, the reservation system is broken because there were no reservations available when you checked same day? Am I following you correctly?
it's broken because the park is not even close to full yet you can't go in. be that as a magic key holder or with a single day ticket.
It could be definitely attributed to a messed up system… but as a dude who works in data, there’s always a story behind weird moves like this corporately.
that man is so sweet driving the car what a gem
I was there Friday and it looked about the same. I had a morning reservation at Oga’s and it felt like I was the only one walking around GE
I havent been able to come down from alaska for a couple years but that is the lowest crowds iv ever seen ive been 4 times
I had an annual passport for many years, but am now priced out of Disney.
Sure hope the crowds stay light for the next couple of weeks 🤞
It lowk makes sense. Rn is a terrible time to go to the parks. Everything’s under construction
At the parks today as we speak it’s quiet, not like dead but it’s not insane for a Friday
💯
Was not New Orleans land (shopping/dinning/pathways) designed as "show" way back in the 60s? That concept in Galaxy Edge doesn't seem new.
What are we supposed to do with this information? How does past crowds information help us?
The stormtroopers constantly multiplying felt like the land glitching out in real life and I love it.
DCA was a ghost town on monday
I was at DCA Monday. Not busy in the morning but it started to pick up at lunch (crossover).
LOL
Do you think it will be crowded on Mothers Day?
