How are you feeling about this deal getting done?
Great! Next up, Malik.
So stoked about Brown's extension and relieved. 😅
I'm glad we can move on from thus story😂
SAME. I was over it haha
Maybe I should even be more excited…. There’s no way changing coaches right now would somehow help and improve right now.
Mo, I love, love, love your Tower Records style Deuce and Mo shirt!❤😁
One of my favorite designs!!
“What’s going on with Mike Brown’s contract extension? Is it happening or is it smoke?” segments were a nice distraction for this month. Back to the regularly scheduled “What can we get for HB + Huerter + first round pick?”
L m a o yeah
Hahha its definitely on to "whats next?!"
Mike earned that, culture changer.
I think I'm more relieved than overjoyed about this because felt like this was such an obvious thing that it shouldn't be an issue. Although I do understand the ownership side of being annoyed with someone asking for a raise after a "failure" of a season. Kings have a lot of big moves that need to be made and extending MB wasn't one that I came into the offseason thinking would be at all dramatic. Now lets resign Monk, trade for Kuzma, and find a good fit with the MLE
Yeah, glad its done. Excited to see whats next!
🤝
Karl Anthony Towns Domantas Sabonis Keegan Murray Jonathan Kuminga Mike Conley Trey Lyles Shasha Vezenkov Chris Duarte Malik Monk Davion Mitchell Alex Len and Kessler Edwards
I knew it. They finally got it done. Now....do everything to keep Malik Monk.
You think Monk stays?
@@DeuceandMoYES JUST YES
@@DeuceandMo I do. I'm putting my money on him staying.
What’s good with Mo.. she single? Asking for a friend
I feel good. As a sports fan born and raised in Sac, I admit I’m becoming increasingly annoyed with all pro sports and the big deals. But having seen Kings only previously great from late 90s through early 2000s, I am very appreciative of Brown, and finally getting back to the postseason. So definitely wanted to see him get at least another couple years.
How good?
I mean pretty good! I wasn’t happy when I saw that there was a struggle for a deal. But also would like to see some improvement. But again I’ve been through this since the beginning and comeon?!… Mike has done stuff, and Monte that hasn’t been done in what 16 years??? And after all the quick changes that happened before?
So yes I’m pretty happy about getting that deal done.
People struggle with having any patience these days. And championship teams in all sports never happen overnight. Got to have a little patience and insight.
mike brown is a very good regular season coach. ill stop right there.
Also a good postseason assistant coach. Championship level assistance
Why is Mo cussing
That's not a big raise.
I've been on both sides of the aisle and the truth is, whoever has the negotiating power will get/force the best deal. As somebody asking for crazy/impossible figures, I was surprised it was given after a day of thinking by the other side. As the other side, I had no choice but to cave in to the demands of one I really cannot afford to lose on my staff. For Mike Brown, he really did not have enough negotiating power because chances are the other side expected more in yr 2. If I were Mike Brown, I would rather ask for an extension at the midway point of next season when the Sacramento Kings are above .500. At that time, I would ask for $20M per year for 5 years guaranteed, no championship title attachment other than "I'm the best coach for the job."
he went from 4.5 to 8.5 with a chance at 10. thats pretty solid to me.
I'm glad that the Kings have extended Mike Brown at a VERY reasonable cost. This is a requisite first step for a (hopefully) successful off-season.
yeah, i think it was good for both sides.
You don't put pieces around Fox n Domas they are pieces around a better player
Sup DnM
I could care less, ain't my money. Personally I think DC would have been better
The biggest challenge for Brown is getting a true NUMBER ONE
Lol thats not his job and how do the Kings do that? You act like Fox and Sabonis arent good players
@@DeuceandMo you know I LOVE Domas. Neither player is a championship squad leader.
I don't care who gets one, it will always be a challenge for Brown until they do.
There's understandably a beggars can't be choosers mentality in Sac but I think the local media and fans have greatly exaggerated what Mike Brown is.
He was fired from Cleveland in his 6th year coaching the Cavs (2nd stint) for the same reasons he's criticized today - poor adjustments, getting outcoached, offense suffering too much, players not on same page - but he's supposed to be a good coach because a team with Fox, Sabonis and Monk all entering their prime made the playoffs' 1st rd? Monk himself said Brown did not elevate his game. The fact that Brown can miss the playoffs with basically the same roster says much more about him than the fact that this McNair-constructed team made it last year, imo.
Brown only won titles as an assistant coach - couldn't in 5 years coaching Lebron in Cleveland with one of the highest team salaries in the league.
Worst of all for this version of the Kings, I think Mike Brown asked Monte to preserve the starting lineup this season given he said he believed they can contend for the title this (lottery) year and how he played HB more minutes than Monk. If a coach talks about contending for the title in a season, I think it's fair to conclude he is/was at least content with the roster, if not happy with it. Running it back was very poor decision-making imo, and I don't think they can recover from it.
Think you're underselling what he's done with the Kings. You're doing a bit of cherry picking, too. Brown's second stint was hurt by many things including the fact that the GM who brought him back got canned in February and they elevated David Griffin.
Also, are we really pinning the LeBron-Cavs shortcoming all on him? Who was the best player he played with during that run? Mo Williams?
Monk said Brown didnt elevate his game but gave him a ton of credit for trusting him and allowing him to be him. That's not nothing.
He missed the playoffs in a tougher conference with significant injuries at the end. The reality is they need some changes with the roster to show some real progress. Blaming him for "running it back" seems misguided to me.
@@DeuceandMo Talks between Monte and HB went silent for a couple weeks last offseason so Monte was likely holding his nose when he eventually re-signed him
Then in October Mike Brown talked about possibly contending for the championship this year while Monte only said it's a "long process" to become contenders. Can't imagine a head coach suggesting something so silly if he doesn't like the roster
Monte was talking about needing to improve the offense at the trade deadline while Mike Brown was talking about needing to improve the defense
At the very least, they don't seem to be on the same page
