This definitely deserves its own little documentary of 40-50 minutes
it does, this is just a clip of the full documentary that they uploaded on RUclips
the full thing was on Viceland in 2015-2016ish
I tried looking for the whole thing for years now but i can't find it
Yeah this is an old show they clipped up, the full show is out there. They did a couple episodes, the main host is a famous former Japanese mma fighter from early ufc days
These guys are not serious, Vice is just sensationalising them to make them look like criminal gangs but it's made up of majority citizens.
It is. You have to pay for it to watch it on demand.
It takes millions to film; they're not posting it for free.
It’s the same with the short video of the UK council estate red diesel. Why can’t we watch the full documentaries. Are Vice and Vineland different?
Bro, I just realized that’s Enson Inoue, not the gang leader but the reporter 😂 legend in mma!
it seems that only few people remember PRIDE days
Yes. Me too. I remember they lived down the street in Manoa. Good to see him rocking it.
TIMESTAMP
Do you perhaps know whether is he related to the of the best pound for pound boxers, Naoya Inoue or not
Had me fooled for half the video. The person I thought was the boss/leader turned out to be the reporter.
Edit: Thanks for the likes!
Enson Inoue is a boss, that's why.
i thought the same until I saw him asking questions. he's massive
Enson Inoue, google him and you know he is a real BOSS.
LOL same here
I was really confused thinking Enson was a gang boss
….this short video is alright but let me fill you guys in on something as a Japanese and inform on why this is happening. One of the reasoning behind “gangs” rising up is because yakuza for quite a while now have been what Japanese say “tainted”. Meaning, that the reason there has been a decline in the Yakuza is not just because of the police but members decided to move on because a lot of the ideology has been “tainted” by the influence of Korean-Japanese members. So because of that members left and moved on in life and many have decided to start their own factions “gangs”. Yakuza doesn’t hold its value or name anymore as it once did. With police or with society. Before there was a level of respect but now they’re just disregarded by the public…….lot more to it but that’s the word in the street :)
So it's basically a beef on ethnicity? What a shame.
@@C.Bastard pretty much….but it’s deeper than that. Historically, Koreans, mainly the old heads, (and rightfully so) have a hatred for Japanese because of colonial times and some f’d up stuff the Japanese did to Koreans during that time. So even until now, they pass that hatred on to new gen and continuing the cycle….but it’s not necessarily because they’re Korean it’s because yakuza has always been a culture heavy based organization, and since Koreans started coming in the culture and structure was not there as much. So you started to hear about them fighting internally
@@hiroomimi9629 That is surprising to hear because Koreans are kind of outcasts in the Japanese society back in the days...just like the Yakuza..so I thought they would get along for the most part...
@@js83 oh yea…for sure. I mean this wasn’t over night. This over a long time period. But it happens. And again this only one of other reasons but it’s one of the main reasons that we as the public know of.
@@hiroomimi9629 Koreans hate Japanese because of the colonial past. It's not like Japanese people consider Korean people inferior, right?! You guys...
didn't even know Enson Inoue was the host when I clicked. give this man his own show; he's an mma legend, and those guys don't have pensions
Totally agree with you. He has a great narrative voice too
I’ve seen other stuff of his if u look around by vice
He's the conduit for us to see the REAL underworld of Japan
Is he a relative of Naoya Inoue the Boxing star?
Ok jake paul
The principal of my Junior Highschool was Enson Inoue’s mother. Still remember when his brother Egan Inoue was offering jiu jitsu classes at school. Wish I would’ve took it then but at the time nobody really knew about jiu jitsu so I jus passed on it. If I’m not mistaken I believe it was free also. Time flies tho this was back in 1998
Yakuza was interesting because of their extreme dedication, loyalty, and professionalism. Similar to a Japanese version of the Italian mafia decades ago. Anyone on the outside was intriguee by the close familial ties, rules, and organization. New modern gangs are nothing special, everyone is out for themselves.
yeh thats what makes them interesting and cool. the mafia and yakuza and such, they have their own world and culture, really intriguing how they organise their stuff
Core truth
Gangs are for the weak who can't hack it on their own. There is no honor in that.
@@onionheadoverseer5151 depends on the gang dude.
@@Sonnyyyy no it does not.
Man as a salvadorian im baffled at how different this gangs are. I grew up in El Salvador when gangs where at their peak in over there your own men would kill you over nothing and in the most brutal of way. Here you can see real trust in each other over there you cant trust no one because the same people you eat and do works with will be the same people who visit you with a chainsaw.
That's the reality of it everywhere I wouldn't say everyone thinks like them in japan
Almost defeats the purpose of a gang
thats every street gang/mafia you just described they all have rats and snakes that stab their own members in the back
Japanese culture has strong roots in honor and respect, and it caries over into the gangs...for the most part.
Japan is still a relative safe country compared to what El savador used to be. Before your president cleaned up the country. Your nation was considered more dangerous than Iraq and Afghanistan during their wars with the US.
People are just looking to be accepted in this world that people feel is less and less caring of them. And some people will find this comfort in a gang. Simple as that
Plus, when you’re poor and without any opportunities, you’re left with nothing but resorting too crime.
You guys are right.
It’s a family.
😎🙏
The governments of the world are the criminals and the 1% are the top dogs.
Davos and WEF are some of there little clubs
If these guys say there is no strict hierarchy in their organization and they are all "equal"....then this is the Japanese version of the Italian 'Ndrangheta. Japanese authorities should really pay attention to it since this type of mafia is way more dangerous and reckless than the usual Yakuza or Sicilian mafia.
there is no strict hierarchy because thats all the gangs with rigid hierarchy in their organizations have been completely infiltrated by the police. The new loose knit gang structure is the modern answer to an overbearing modern police force + harsh anti-gang laws
More like Camorra bro.
@@alexenache6942 Yeah kind of...I mentioned the Ndrageta a relatively new entity like the one talked about in this piece. The Camorra is an older organization as nasty as it can be, it already has it's long history in Italy's crime world. Have you seen the movie "Gamorrah"? It's really disturbing 🤯.
@@EyFmS Have you seen the series, it's even more disturbing!
Or they could ignore it crime movies getting lame nowadays
Need a continuation of this video! Excellent coverage by Vice
Would pay good money to watch some of these underground fights. Probably more exciting than the Pride days.
Hey! Hey dude! Dude!!! You won a prize! Say something to that *person* so you can get your prize come on
@@fleivor5359 yeah man go get your winnings!
soccer kicks galore
Nah nothing touches the Pride days. Maybe One Championship
K.O.T.S. is the place to be.
The fact these fellas do not get a full length documentary is the real crime here.
Definitely going to need more of this
The Yakuzas have been around way longer, are much more experienced, well structured, and are probably much higher in numbers. They would wipe out this so-called nonhierarchical gang.
Oh shut up and go watch some more ncis. The average American citizen could wipe out half the Yakuza alone
I dont know. There arent that many yakuzas anymore compared to the 70s, 80s. And most yakuzas do "outsource" a lot of things to small gangs like these.
@@naj4261 I am saying if these gangs went up against the Yakuzas they wouldn't have a chance. The Yakuzas have diminished in numbers after the police cracked them down, but they're still more powerful than any small gangs.
@@extremelucky1 I really think you're underthinking this. These small crews can probably outnumber the yakuzas after a awhile.
and these gangs may call each other equal but they're a lot less organized than the Yak
Wait wait, this video is not even 5 mins long? I think this is a very interesting topic that should have at least an 1hour for these people to tell their stories!
Maybe the longer feature is coming soon.
It is. This was a clip to a tv show called Black Market: Dispatches
I'm gonna miss Vice so much..... people don't know good content when they see it. Hoping you'll come back, with great content like this!
Where are they going? France?
@@oni-one574 if they have a bankruptcy court there, maybe? Read the news.
If only vice wasn't a liberal mentrual rag
It’s nice to also get an insight into how the cops work. “No filming when the lights are on” imagine if it was that way in America oh boy… cops would start turning on their lights just so they could arrest people filming them 😂
Full length documentary would've been awesome here
I respect how everyone in the family is a certified fighter
Too short, man! I need a 2 hour jawn!
We need more on this topic!
I need longer of this
I have been told crime is minimal in Japan because of the intolerance of it by society. Aside from Yakuza there are no rivals.
Basically true. That seems to be changing though. And will get 10x worse once unchecked immigration starts.
In Japan, heart surgeon.
Number one. Steady hand. One day, yakuza boss need new heart. I do operation. But mistake! Yakuza boss die! Yakuza very mad! I hide fishing boat, come to America. No English, no food, no money. Darryl give me job. Now I have house, American car and new woman. Darryl save life.
My big secret. I kill yakuza boss on purpose. I good surgeon. The best!
Daryru san...

Lol
Good one😂
Preem reference, choomba 👌🏻
This the docs you need to be doing 👊🏽💯
I love this interviewer so much, they all respect him so much everyone answers so honestly.
Sounds good that "we are all equal" but in reality every gang all over the world always have leadership (some share equally others mostly take a much bigger share). I can't believe that is so hard to get or use firearms in Japan. Being an arms dealer must be a very good business......
right with China right there and indochina how hard could it actually be to bring in guns.
Its an island soo..yes , like uk ..its easier to control guns entry
Even the hardened gangsters have a real Japanese humility to them. Very interesting. You don't see much smiling in western gangster pieces, if they do it's to show their iced out grills.
it's possible they didn't form to do crime but to protect each other
@@badfoodythat’s how most gangs start bruh
It took me a second to realize this was Enson inoue. I'm not surprised seeing him narrating/doing this video. Enson is a real warrior. He should of told the story of when he saved Nobuhiko Takdada from getting beat down by the yakuza in that club back in the 90s.
That is true but all that aside Enson is a great guy I had a chance to speak with him years ago looks like he's still doing big things!! @@letsplayminecraft5424
This is what I want to see from Vice! Back to their roots
I grew up around the Yakuza based out of New Jersey and it was NEXT LEVEL
there are no yakuza outside out japan only middle men and contacts..
I have heard that with less yakuza in Japan crime from street gangs has risen because the yakuza are no longer there to keep them in check
damn got me wanting to see more!
They just don't want to cut their own fingers off when they make a mistake lol
Would have watched a feature length documentary of this.
Even the reporter himself seems like an OG.
Thats Enson Inoue... Google him... MMA Legend...
there is a reason why they are just a street gang and the Yakuza is the yakuza. This street gang would do well to avoid the yakuza
Yakuza is dying because of restrictions against them and ii believe from a vice report one of the them said " Once they get rid of us only worse people will replace us" The yakuza started out almost like a charitable community association helping out the poor but now that they are almost extinct japan will have much worse criminals taking over the underground like the Triads .
The Yakuza are old news and old men. There's are reason why these Hangure street gangs are becoming more popular, there is a power shift happening.
@@jjdd4307 old news and old men, naaah, they are the group who earns billion of dollars yearly, who knows this little street gang also comes under them to hide and clean their identity and pays vice some amount of money to flim it otherwise who will dare to say bad to yakuza openly in Japan. At last they sre showing swords or knife you think yakuza depends upon such weapons.
Yakuza are losing power in many directions in Japan. Society doesn't even consider them anymore.
The gangs will find a gap in that vacuum and I'm not convinced the Japanese police will have a method of countering it.
A gang with high potential for violence in a polite society where the police negotiate with a calm organised crime is a recipe for disaster once that gang understands the power it holds. Hopefully they keep innocents out of it.
Do not discount the elderly Asian man with a gun.
What show is this under I can't find it on vicetv
Government basically helping disorganized gangs against organized mafia / Yakuza. Causing potential higher random crimes to occur, Yakuza at least kept things calm and not so obvious.
After the Yakuza seen this, rip all of them lol
nah bro Yakuza have been declining hard. Theres a massive power vacuum atm because of restrictions against yakuza, The crime will get more violent because these new gangs dont have the same original values of the Yakuza.
@@lachlan398 Imagine if they had guns and numerous enemies like in the states, they would be turnt up
Gang life isn't a joke, there's no going back, you'll become a target.

We need more episodes from the great Enson Inoue! He knows the right guys 👊
Even the street gangsters are polite in Japan
Because they ain't like US or Mexico that hides in heavy fire arms 😂
Where I can get a hoodie that Enson Inoue is wearing?
Wheres the rest of the episode ?
0:10 wait what? tons of shabu shabu in hawaii. i think vice mistranslated.
The machete from America is from Harbor Freight. Got 2 for 15 dollars a few years ago. One for home, one for the car. I'd recognize that blade anywhere.
Sensei Enson good to see you're doing well!
Where can I buy that hoodie he's wearing at the start of the vid?
What is he holding in the thumbnail omg😆 looks like he’s gonna beat you with massage parlor tools.
I’m from Japan and I know these guys have no money , no power , nothing lmao so embarrassing
It gives them purpose tho since they probably don’t want to do much of anything else besides thuggin, and I guess boxing 🤔

This is a very very concerning trend, as young men become alienated and isolated in modern society across the west and east they start getting into crime, organizing political movements or gathering around certain figures. We live in very interesting times.
you are so right...one of the most dangerous things is groups of disenfranchised young men..mark my words!!!
Does anyone know the make and model of the tazer he is using?
is there a vull video of this?
Japan is going to have more problems since these gang clusters are not organized and their crimes are more sporadic. In the Yakuza at least they had a strict structure keeping the underlings in check.
teh reporter looks more like a gangster than any of the people in the video :D
Is there a full documentary, besides this clip.
can we watch the fight!?
These guys have no idea what a street gang is.
Smart to get Enson to do this. Rare for anyone else to get in to do this.
I thought it was a newer episode of the same topic but its just a replay of the very old episode
0:03 that hoodie is dope as hell. Where can i get one
Inuoe looks way scarier than any of the gangsters 😂
Enson inoue what a bad ass fighter he was an may as well be a Japanese gangster
Was about to ask if it was Enson!!!
Imagine just chillin in your car, and homie pulls up on you with a f-cking crossbow.
Like what do you even do at that point, pull out a 18th century shield??

Why am I absolutely not surprised that Enson gained some ties to the Japanese underworld from his career in MMA…
Also: respect to one of the true original legends of the sport…. Both the Inoue brother will always be legends to me and my people

California was crawling with Yakuza and Triads in the 90s and 2000s. I don’t know how strong the Yakuza is now but if they are even half the strength still, they can take out this gang since it’s small.
Do 90s Yakuza in California use guns like other gangs? And how powerful are they back then?
I have lived in Sur California practically my whole life, and I have never visually seen a Triad or Yakuza dude
IMO from my memory, the Asians that made the most noise in Califas during the later 80s, esp the 90s and early 2000s were probably the Cambos and Viets, maybe some of the Chinese, not exactly sure which ethnicities, but I know wayyy back then, they tend to have an extremely short temper and would like blast their enemies with automatic weapons or whatever they had, and in terms of gang bangin, they really banged. Now some of those foos were straight killers, straight Gs. Pretty sure a lot of them got life sentences, got sent back to their country, got killed or changed their lives 🤔
dunno bout them Triads unless those red WC dudes would be considered Triads, or their foot soldiers to do the dirty work 🤔
@@inthendwealldie They are mostly in the big cities and they are pretty hush hush about their activities.

This ist from a documentaty series called Black Market: Dispaches by Michae k.Williams but sadly i cant seem to find it anywhere
This needs its own dedicated channel. Good stuff.
I don't find them comparable with Yakuza and Yet to believe that there has been any confrontation between them. I'm honestly scared for these guys because the Yakuza has a very violent history and as organized mafia with ranks, disciplin and rituals they would definetely mess these wannabe gangsters up
the yakuza hasnt been relevant for a while now theyre going out of style like the bosozoku
I don’t know honestly but I have a feeling the Yakuza also have weapons far better then these ones like an actual blicky or something
