    Urgent question.
    I’m going to buy the sound bar but I need your suggestion.
    Can I use this/any other Dolby Atmos sound bar in a non-Dolby Atmos Tv?
    I mean when I play a Dolby Atmos content on Netflix from a non dolby atmos tv do you think I will experience Dolby Atmos effect?
    Or do I need to have Dolby Atmos enabled TV?

    • @Reviewedcom
      @Reviewedcom  Год назад +7

      The TV itself won't play the Dolby Atmos signal, it's passing it to the soundbar via HDMI. A TV that is Dolby Atmos enabled means it has upfiring speakers within the TV chassis to deliver height channels when playing audio from the TV alone, but if you're attaching a Dolby Atmos soundbar, the TV just needs to pass that information through the HDMI connection. What the TV needs at the very least is an HDMI ARC port that connects to the soundbar. This will pass a lossy version of Dolby Atmos using the Dolby Digital Plus codec. If the TV has eARC, all the better, as that will pass a lossless Dolby Atmos signal using the Dolby TrueHD codec. (Lossless is a higher quality signal, while lossy has information from the signal removed to make the data file sizes smaller.) - John Higgins, Managing Editor of Tech.

    All these soundbars miss the PC/Console market completely by not having full HDMI 2.1 passthrough (by full hdmi 2.1 i mean that both the input EARC hdmi port and the monitor/tc passthrough/output hdmi port are hdmi 2.1 and pass through EVERYTHING including VRR and HDR)

    • @Reviewedcom
      @Reviewedcom  Год назад

      I believe the 550 is the warehouse club store model name. Same bar, different retailer. If it's on sale for less than the 600, go for it. I am not aware of any difference between the two. Companies will do this a lot, where the products sold at Costco or Sam's are identical to products sold at Amazon or Best Buy, just have a different model number for inventory purposes. - John Higgins, Managing Editor of Tech

    Great review. I recently bought this and not impressed with the output. My much older Yamaha YAS 103 sounds fuller and louder. Am using a Sony Bravia TV bought about 9 years ago which has an ARC port. Does the newer model of TVs with eARC give a better output with Bose 600?

    • @Reviewedcom
      @Reviewedcom  Год назад +1

      ARC has a more limited bandwidth than eARC, which means the audio signals from it are compressed (leading to lesser overall quality compared to eARC) and Dolby Atmos signals through ARC are transmitted through the Dolby Digital Plus format, which is lossy (meaning you're losing parts of the audio signal, part of the aforementioned lesser overall audio quality). eARC is capable of uncompressed multi-channel audio and high bitrate audio up to 24bit/192kHz.
      More info about them: reviewed.usatoday.com/home-theater/features/what-is-hdmi-arc-and-earc

    • @Victoria-bl4tw
      @Victoria-bl4tw Год назад

      Good to know. I also have an older Sony Bravia and have just purchased a Sony Soundbar. All Ads mentioned that this soundbar was compatible with eArc. However, a couple of Sony representatives assured me it would also be compatible with Arc. Well……not so. I received it today and yes, it works with Arc but not as efficiently as it should and with some annoying glitches. I am returning it tomorrow. I was considering replacing it with this Sony but seems I may be running into the same problem.

    • @Gaurav18nov
      @Gaurav18nov Год назад

      I faced similiar issue with my 7-8 years old Bravia (bought for 1000 USD at that time). With my Samsung Q700B (Atmos enabled) soundbar it sounded low and sooooo bad (on RUclips and with Dolby content).
      Then I hooked it up to my 4 years old LG 4K Nanocel TV and it sounded 4-5X louder, fuller and better (even without Atmos content).
      REASON: My Bravia has HDMI 1.4 with lower bandwidth, lesser power supply whereas my LG 4K has HDMI 2.0 with 18 Gbps bandwidth (1 Mbps for audio thats good for DDP Atmos on Netflix,Apple TV+). With 4K passthrough on soundbar I get Atmos (via Dolby Digital Plus) through Apple TV 4K (1st gen) but not if Apple TV is directly connected to TV's HDMI port. Not sure why, even though soundbar can play Atmos if content on LG TV is played through external Hard disk or SSD.
      So I am quite sure the problem is with the TV, not Bose 600.

    Another one that you need an 'app' to set-up; even though it's got a remote that 'should' enable all that, but doesn't; so it's another one that's an absolute NO for me, and many others, by default. No time for 'apps' or any of that, planned or otherwise inevitable, obsolescence (and don't want a smart phone near me when chilling watching films et-al anyway); and many who need the best 'dialogue' don't have or do 'smart phones', believe it or not.

    The subwoofer (wired) worked fine for a while. Then the tab on the app for controlling the sub volume just DISAPPEARED! And there is NOBODY to ask about what must be a simple adjustment to the app. I returned the soundbar and the new one worked with my wired sub. For a while. And then quit once again. I'm going to keep returning the unit until the warranty runs out. Bose SUCKS!
