My belief is if “The Spot” had gone different we would have reached 2023’s peak about 5 years earlier. That impacted recruiting and caused a shaking of confidence in Jim’s philosophy (moved to gimmick O and D). Jim ultimately returned back to the style that had worked for him at all his previous stops. Power football with a team first mentality.
This man took over a historically great football program that had fallen on hard times. As the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day" and in the last two years he's brought the team back to being a championship contender when in the few years prior people were calling for him to be fired. Harbaugh was a great player at Michigan playing under arguably the greatest coach in program history in Bo Schembechler, had some success in the NFL as a player and has had success everywhere he's coached. Us as Michigan fans couldn't ask for a better candidate to be leading our team and hopefully we can pull off a national championship so he can cement his spot as one of the greatest coaches in program history. He's a Michigan man through and through and exactly what we needed to bring the program back
I still remember where I was when this press conference was going on. I had just smashed my finger in a car door and despite my best efforts, i needed to go to urgent care to drain the blood out and let the nail fall out lol
I was waiting for the 45-min to 1 hr bus back to my apartment when the press conference was going on. Hard to believe that was nine years ago.
It took a long ass time for Harbaugh to finally find success. Hell, he almost got fired in 2020...but it was all worth it
I remember that like yesterday,he tripped and said a lesser athlete would have fell. I think that he was dog tired coming across the country with probably not much sleep. Job well done coach.
