  • 2 years daily driving my Pro-Tuned 2016 Subaru WRX!
In this video, I talk about all the issues and problems I have faced with my Subaru WRX. I got the Pro-Tune through Bren Tuning, and with some help from Matt Miner was able to dial everything into where we are today. Prior to the custom dyno tune, I was using a Cobb Stage 2 OTS tune, and prior to that the Cobb Stage 1 + OTS tune. MAt this point and time, I am considering the next ride for me and the channel, and it looks like it will either be a 2021 WRX STI or a 2022 WRX. We will see which comes first!

Same as mine.I will drive this car for the rest of my life.I’ve been to many cars but this is the most enjoyable to drive.

Thanks for your feedback on the time you’ve owned the car. I am keeping my 2020 WRX in complete stock trim because it’s practically a rolling savings account. After owning tuned, daily-driven cars, I won’t touch this one. Instead, I plan to eventually get a second car that will be the car I tune and tinker with. For my daily though, I love the WRX. Cost of ownership is cheaper and less wasteful than an STI for me, and I still have more than enough fun.

Great video. I'm finally Protuning my Stage 2+ 2007 WRX next week and I couldn't be more excited. I've been on Cobb OTS maps for over 5 years.

Happy to have stumbled across your channel. You seem to have a really good head on your shoulders and I appreciate your input on the WRX. I had not considered the trouble one might have with passing inspection, so that's definitely given me some things to think about.
My silver 2020 WRX Base arrives next Saturday and I am so excited--been wanting one for well over a decade. I don't have any big power goals, just want a reliable and fun daily driver so I'll be keeping my mods conservative. My Invidia q300 catback, Cobb pitch stop mount, and Cobb knob will all be arriving before the car even gets here lol. Later this month my bronze Drag DR31 rims 17x8 with some Yokohama 225/50's will arrive to give me some more protection from these abusive NYC streets. Honestly, not sure what other mods I should do since I'm just trying to keep things simple and reliable...
I am eternally stoked about all of this lol.

Consider AOS either IAG or CRAWFORD. That will help in the reliability of the car.
Mine is protuned by Matt M. and have Jpipe, TMIC, charge pipe, R400, ebcs, intake, aos as mods and don’t have the not ready issue. So most probably it is just the tune that is causing him the problem.

Also have an annoyance with stop and go traffic. My STI is very jerky when coasting in first and second gear. And the clutch is quite heavy so it tires out my leg. I recently drove a manual fiat station wagon in Spain as a rental on a trip. It was so smooth compared to my STI lol. Never jerked.

Can you explain more about how drive cycles and inspection works? I’m planning to get a Cobb catted jpipe and am wondering if I’ll have the same issues as you up here in Mass.

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  2 года назад +1

My bet is the tune itself will reset some of your sensors. You will need to work on completing drive cycles and/or resetting the ECU when they don't work, until they work. Are you from Mass?

    • @Gambit1227

I have a catted Cobb Jpipe with my 2020 wrx and just passed my inspection last week. Protuned by Matt M.

So my cars completely stock I have a 2017 wrx, I haven’t installed it yet but I have the AP and cold air intake and axel back. What other mods should I add before pro tuning for reliability so I don’t break things every week. I don’t rip on it a lot either so

Hey bud, I've been keeping up with your uploads this year and this one caught my eye. Is this recent? I just noticed the car doesn't have the wrapped mirrors, the vent overlays, and I think the spoiler is different or it's missing some overlays on the rear. The beauty shots were not what I'm used to seeing. Am I wrong?
Edit: beauty shots are the same. It's the intro portion the car is way different

    • @AutoEnthusiast

Yeah the intro is the without some of the wrap and same with the thumbnail. Weather has been awful here so I am waiting for a chance to get out and shoot some B roll lol

Got a tuned Wrx and wouldn’t say realllly fast lol 😆 we know they’re slow, it’s okay.
Owned all the Zs for 300zx up, they felt “fast” tuned. Wrx is just a lot of fun on back road corners…gravel.. snow… dirt..
